Incredibly common, but lazy of them to say there's nothing to be done about it. Buy some cheap nylon or rubber washers to stick between the cat shields, the skid plate and the crossmember, and you're going to get rid of it.

You may also need to install a thin separation between the cat plates and the trd skid plate and or where it contacts the frame. I added rubber between all contacts points and this fixed the noise issues.

You will use all 4 on the front. I had to read and re-read the install instructions, now gotta go out and correct mine.
    1. Install the front part of the engine skid plate first. The two threaded holes on the front will line up with two threaded holes on the radiator support. Two round aluminum spacers will go between the shield the radiator support on each hole.

The other BIG thing I have seen, is property tightening of the TRD pro plate.

Why didn’t they come with them as part of the install? This is so annoying to have it installed per instructions at dealer which results in tons of squeaking noises, and then go back and install proper parts they should’ve included in the first place. Great shield but no customer wants to have creaking noises all over his truck, this is common sense.

That was first thing i mentioned and they showed me exactly where noise is coming from by pressing at certain points on the shield.

Please include nylon washers for future customers so they dont have this issue, hopefully dealer doesn’t charge me to go back for third time and install those washers.

What size washers are needed ?

Toyota claims the use of material between the truck and the skidplate can cause failures of some kind, though it's hard to imagine what, so they wouldn't likely do it. But if they're willing to install aftermarket cat shields then they might be, it's worth asking. But it's worth doing yourself if you can, because it's truly just a few bolts in and out, one at a time, no lifting involved, and it's done.

Sizes I don't recall off the top of my head, probably... M8 internal diameter and 1.5" outer and at least a 1/8" thickness would do the trick, you'd need a minimum of 4 - two to go between the skidplate and cat shields, two between the shields and crossmember, and I think that's it. Washers are probably like $1 at a local hardware store, and I'd pick rubber over nylon if available for durability.

so I’m coming up on my first oil change. I’ve got the round hole in the skid plate to access the oil drain plug. Has anybody done an oil change with this skid plate yet? Is the oil actually going to shoot out that hole or am I going to end up with a mess everywhere?

Yes it’s going to go everywhere, took me longer to clean everything than to change the oil. I talked to them about it, they advised that I use fumoto valve, which is why I was waiting to put one on, should have taken it down.

Will the standard skid clear any 3" lift kit? Or do I need to select the trd 3" lift option?

It will not, we are having a few issues with the TRD Pro 3" lift front skid, and are working those out.

We are considering doing a change that will let the skid go above the sway bar.

What's involved in a scan? Do you need to be hands on? If not, I'll volunteer mine! :)

Show up, put the truck on the lift. Chat, and let me scan it.

Do you have the OEM TRD fuel tank skid?

Lots of Tundra plates going into powdercoat today.

How are we able to ship our parts so fast? By continuously investing back into ourselves, and keeping everything in house!
