I was looking at the 3M dicon carbon fiber, but am leaning towards the 3M 2080 brushed black wrap now.

Evan, I figured I'd show you exactly what to expect with real-world pics, so you would not have to rely on some anecdotal posts you may run across on the interweb by people that just want to be heard
First, you can use the Amazon overlay with the AJT 4x4 knob already in place...no need to remove it, slides right over. Not so with the AJT vent rings. I pulled the AJT vent rings off the factory chrome vent rings, trimmed the outer channel flat inside the AJT vent rings that slide over the OEM chrome, and used double-sided 3M tape to affix the AJT vent rings to the Amazon overlay. End result is the last pic.
Second, see pics below regarding which areas you can still see the silver OEM paint once the Amazon overlay goes on. Most exposure is when you open the glove box (first pic). If you have full-blown OCD, might not be your cup of tea, in which case, replacing the entire part with Toyota black like @reywcms did, or, painting the factory part with trim paint, is probably your best bet. I am too lazy to rip my dash apart and don't want any of the plastic clips or clip mounts to break, my OCD isn't too terrible, and I suck at painting:rofl:. The Amazon overlay therefore was right up my alley. No regrets on the purchase. I hope this helps.

Well hell! This puts it back on my radar then! No problem modifying the AJT vent rings...glad they slide over the other nobs...

I am with you on OCD...in the glove box and slightly on the underside...no problem!

I appreciate the feedback...this is exactly what I was looking for!...Only thing left after this will be the grey door trim!! Don't know if there is a solution for that...haven't bothered to look yet!

    Great feedback!

Check out my thread if you haven't seen it yet...includes my opinions on the door trim pieces. YMMV.

Reviving an old thread. But having some issues with removing the chrome around the shifter.

    Any tips on removing it?

Been awhile since I did mine, but if I remember right the shift gate is heat staked in a few spots to the other piece. I seem to remember having to grind the heat staking nubs a little and gently pry off the shift gate.

Thanks for the follow up. I came up with a way that did not require grinding and turned out looking nearly OEM again.

For those that go with Meso black out kit. This is what I did to remove and install the shift gate trim.

These pictures are all of the finished product. I forgot to snap pictures prior to removal of the chrome”.

    1. Use a small flat head screwdriver. And lightly pry up on the (6) heat staked tabs that hold the chrome trim on. It does not require a lot of force to do this.

    2. Once all the tabs are essentially “broke” off, mix up a small portion JB Weld and apply a light coat in the three general areas

    3. Using a soldering iron, plastic weld the little tabs that remain from step #1 down until they just touch the new black shift gate. Be careful not to apply too much heat all at once! Little taps until it just touches and you’re good to go!

My parts search fu must not be too good as I can't find that part for a 2021 TRD Pro and the fit calculator says that part is not a fit. Does anyone have the part number for the same for a 2021 TRD Pro? TIA.

55405 0c020c1 will fit up 21 4x4 ,parts catalog will say no since black trim was for SR models ,
Sparks Toyota has free ship ends today have to spend 300$ min (holidayspark) ship code ,
this part will probably increase Jan 1, Toyota has price increases 1/1 and 7/1 very rare that any parts decrease

Thanks, I just ordered. Intending to replace the JBL system with an Alpine; might as well tear the dash apart at the same time. :)

SEM Tr8m black coating is a hell of a lot cheaper than replacing that piece.
