I don't know the PID but I use an app called Car Scanner that supports showing gear status and torque converter status

What a truly great thread for this information!! So awesome!!!

My journey has begun after reading all 331 of the posts in here! I have also read other threads pertaining to this topic.

Here is my contributions if I may?
Scanner: Veepeak Bluetooth BLE, Am a zon, $26 bucks…
Monitor: IPad Mini, second gen, running iOS 15.7.9…
Software: OBD Fusion, I have not bought the extended PID package.

I was waiting for the scanner to arrive, before buying the extended package, just to make sure it all worked, lol!

Just for fun, I used Dropbox, (Which used to be free years ago, and now they want 12 bucks a month, Oh heck no!) to download a generous users configs…

BIG TIP: Make sure you ARE NOT using the “Advanced mode” setting in the prefs as it prevents proper import of files. If it is set to on, the import will fail….

Here are my results, don’t worry, I’m going to delete everything and start over to be sure… I just thought it was hilarious how these files looked after installing them.

NJOY! And really, Thx to everyone contributing so far! Such Fun!!!

    Next day UPDATE:
So, I’m getting some activity on the default gauges… so I know the kit kinda works. It just seems to be configuration related.

And I have successfully imported a few dashboards from others…
They have much newer trucks than mine.

so, most all of their transmission gauges show up as mpg or mph….
And, I can’t find a few of the pid’s that I’m mostly interested in such as

    tire pressure and transmission temps…

Are any of my fellow FGT’ers (2002) running this software combo?
Scanner: Veepeak Bluetooth BLE, Am a zon, $26 bucks…
Monitor: IPad Mini, second gen, running iOS 15.7.9…
Software: OBD Fusion, with the extended PID package for the 2002?

If this has been covered I am sorry but I've not found the answer yet. Looking for the ATF Pan PID for the 2021 OBD Fusion for Iphone if anyone knows it. The one I used doesn't work. Show's 2.8 at all times.

VEEPEAK BLE+ and OBD Fusion with the Tundra 2020 add on using y'alls notes. Thank you Tundra forum members. I wish I had this when I towed a 30' trailer across the planet. The number in white is elevation. The green ring is torque converter lockup, with the gear in the middle. The transmission temperatures got up to 180 last night running down the highway. It was 10 degrees outside and I was unloaded. Screenshot_20231203-174245.png

Slowly chipping away at this thing.
Still can’t get my TPMS to read properly. Always 14.7 psi high

    Can’t find the elevation PID

Can’t get the torque converter lock up to over lap the gear select like you all have

    Shift Status Settings

Display Configuration: Number of Decimals set at 0

Use Style settings to disappear everything but VALUE LABEL. My font scale is .336 and position is .369 and of course the color is green. Everything else (Background, Bevel, Title Label and Units Label is set to a color represented by the white and grey checkers. This is transparent, so the only thing that shows up is the gear. Then, you Drag and Move to slide this on tope of the torque converter display. Of course, you do not need to have the gear and lockup in one spot, but it saves space. I used these transparent "colors" to get rid of everything but the numbers for the elevation display as well.

    Lock Up Settings

Display Configuration: Item Status of Lock Up / OFF or ON, Min 0, Max 1 (number of decimals and multiplier both set at 1, but I don't think that matters). Just reporting on what my settings currently are because I didn't take notes while trying all kinds of options to make it work. (I initially didn't think the lock up worked while driving around on city streets because I did not realize that the TC does not lock until you are moving at a good steady speed and in 4th, 5th or 6th gear. I'm just reporting on when I saw the ring gauge go green all around; I don't know what the excellent mechanics on here know about how these transmissions are supposed to work.)

Style: Frame pulldown selected: Start Angle -180 End Angle 179. (This may not be THE way to do it, but it worked good enough for me.) Background inner and outer color shades of black. Bevel width .02 and flatness .22. Color whiteish and grayish. Title Label transparent (white and grey checkers). Value label (visible not checked).

Axis pulldown: ticks all set to 0, labels not visible

Needle pulldown: set to not visible

Range pulldown: check enabled, inner position .725, outer position .981, color I selected is green. Border width 0. Range appearance, inner position .077, outer position .148, border width 0

I just fiddled with all of the available options and watched to see what effect that had in the image at the top left.

This thread is awesome, thanks for creating/contributing!

Happened upon Veepeak/ Fusion in a trans fluid drain/fill thread, then was pointed to this for setup/info. Had to read manual and experiment, but found/added what I wanted.

Dash is set up now, just need to see how added displays work for me!

Been a couple of weeks, only did it the once, so hopefully this'll get you close, I read through the threads, then a little tinkering. I bought the 2020 Tundra PID file. Then, took the default dashboard, manage dashboard, created a copy Then, clicked on one of the displays to edit it (configure display). Kept clicking on the areas until I found the transmission temps.
My main issue is dicey connectivity...it's BT, my phone says connected to Veepeak, but Fusion just keeps on spinning...

Mine is a 2021. Should I buy the 2021 or 2020? And how or where do I purchase the tundra pid file?

@ToyotaSan you'll want to purchase the 2021 Enhanced Diagnostics, you can find it by going into Settings > Purchase Extras > Toyota, Lexus, Scion > Toyota 2021 Enhanced Diagnostics.

After purchasing that you'll want to setup a gauge to read the transmission temp. You can either setup a new gauge or modify an existing gauge in the dashboard. The PID you'll want for the transmission temp is A/T Oil Temperature 1 °F and for the torque converter you'll want A/T Temperature 2 °F, I have a 2021 and these are the PID's I use so they should be the same for yours as well. If you need specific help on how to setup the gauges let me know.

Here is what my dashboard looks like.

There are other examples in that thread as well as links to download some of them including mine.

For the recent posts from folks building their screens for towing - strongly encourage you to monitor your engine coolant temps.on your main display. The app will show you pending issues well before your dash will. As in, >30* earlier.

Helpful for a separate display (so as to not clutter your primary viewing option) is the trans fluid degradation value so you can track the health of your trans fluid throughout the season. This was a recent find and can help you track how well the trans/fluid are holding up over time.

@tyr0981 go to Genuine Cooling Systems website and they post the PIDS to use for the tranny temps. Can't remember if they show you how to load them or not.

For those leaving your Veepeaks plugged in are you considering that it might be a security issue? Would there be any risks? Thinking outside the box.

I had not thought of that. I used to leave mine plugged in but I was more concerned with voltage draw draining my battery. I normally only drive mine on the weekends

I guess the question is, can the door lock be controlled with the right software to unlock or even start the truck through the dongle. I'm thinking so especially with push button start trucks.

Just looking at it. Go to setting and change the units to kph then it will show kph on the gauge.

This has not crossed my mind before, but without the ignition being "on" there isn't a ton of comms happening with the vehicle directly. That's not to say it can't be hacked, just that it's probably pretty low threat overall, especially how it is a more localized Bluetooth connection to the dongle itself.

I personally think the Fortin remote connectivity is a bigger risk overall if you're worried about having your vehicle hacked. To my knowledge, the majority of the breaches exploit those more persistent remote connections where the actors have time to learn the systems. Mind you, my recollections is based off a time that was pre-Tesla and was demonstrated at DefCon against a Jeep Cherokee via one of their connected services.

The biggest risk is probably the .000001% chance you are being targeted by a bad actor with the means and motivation to target someone, in close proximity, while mobile. You probably already know if you are at risk for this and trans fluid temps probably isn't a high priority if you are.

This all said, for how simple it is to unplug the dongle, I'll probably start doing it just as a best practice while parked/stored.

    Good post!

I'm not presently near my truck to find out on my own. I haven't spent much time at all using AA or driven the truck much, either.

I've never synced a phone to a vehicle. My '08 head unit does not have that feature.

Still drive my '08 everywhere presently.

I don't think OBD Fusion is a supported app on Android auto or Carplay.
