I have an 08 with the 4.7. I have done the timing belt a few times so I’m familiar with breaking it down. This time I’m working on a leaking oil pump which is a larger job than I thought but here we are. I have the oil pan off and everything loose but it seems to be bound up and won’t slide forward. Any thoughts?

Both pans must be removed on the 2UZ to remove the oil pickup tube which is attached to the back of the pump by two studs. Is your leak from the crank seal or possible from the tensioner pulley bolt which will leak if not properly sealed?

Ah, I remember this bit about some large washer there, that was missing for one user, because it ended up as a 'leftover' part or something. I want to say that was @Mr Badwrench.

I’ve gotten both pans off and removed the pick up tube. I removed the main seal around the crank but can’t get the pump to break free. Shouldn’t it slide forward after breaking the seal?
