    A LOT... NEVER ENDS
So I bought a controller and panel from a fellow tundras member. Went to install, not see any connector that fits... I found a couple of connectors electrical taped up... Only one that will reach it doesnt work, Do I have to buy a harness? Worse case I'll sell the package deal

    2014 tundra sr5 4x4 5.7

Hopefully I can get it to work

I believe the '14's harness is on the left side. The '15's and newer are on the right side.

The plug should be up by the foot brake. You may need to buy a pigtail, they are cheap.

Ted, You need to purchase the pigtail as described above. Once purchased it takes about 15 seconds to hook up and 5 minutes to locate and attach brake controller and it's bracket. Don't give up yet

Is it an OEM Toyota brake controller or an after market (Tekonsha or Draw Tight)?

If you really want to keep it OEM you'll probably have to go to a junk yard and see if you can yank a part or wait to see if someone on the forum can scrounge one up for you. Your question's only been up for a day and not everyone here visits daily. I know several Toyota parts guys and service guys frequent the forum and are loaded with info and can get you nearly anything you need. If you don't mind after market, go to Etrailer.com and they'll hook you up with anything you want. I personally picked up a mid range Tekonsha controller for my 26ft trailer. It set me back $200 for everything, harness included. The thing works like a champ!

Time will tell.... Either gonna find a harness or sell the kit (one stop shop for 2015+ TUNDO's who need the controller)

The factory controller will not work on a 2014 no matter what you do. If you want to install a brake controller and make it look factory, buy the Tekonsha P3, the wire harness and our P3 brake controller mounting kit. You can find the mounting kit on our website at www.esptruck.com.

Update. I got the brake controller software fix and am just back from towing a 25' Airstream 300 miles. Brakes are good. Our tech. at the trailer dealership said that manual gain was the way to go and started me at 5.5 setting. At 5.5 the brakes stopped and felt good, no pushing. I progressively dialed it up to 9.5 and honestly felt zero difference on highway or city. Good news is that the brake controller is good. If I reach down and clamp the ears together I definately get alot of brake from the trailer....not enough to skid the tires but alot more. I'm happy. This is good enough

I have a P3 with the right connector and ESP controller mount kit that I’m not going to use, since I upgraded to a 17’ CM. Let me know if you’re interested in it.

2016 with factory brake controller <<
*The etrailer link below is what you need + the Tekonsha.

Well...update. The software flash really is just ok. I have a Tekonsha P3 1/2 way installed and for life of me can not find the alternate plug?

FWIIW I *believe* that the incorrect harness adapter is being referenced.

This is the adapter that looks like it is a direct adapter for the plug you unhook from the factory brake controller eg you simply plug into the factory harness that you JUST unplugged from the factory brake controller and done. Am I correct?

Just installed the CORRECT wiring harness for 2016 Tundra (with factory brake controller) and it was a 2 min. job.
Headed out tomorrow for a test and tune, I'm expecting good things.
Any tips for tuning the P3?

    Last and final update ;)
The Tekonsha P3 is alot better, for my situation, than the 2016 factory brake controller even with the factory software upgrade.
The P3 brakes stronger when it needs to and modulates as in the factory brake controller barely modulates if at all. Mind you I love the Japanese and everything they do seems to be done better than it needs to be done so hey the Tekonsha is icing on a cake the way I see it.
Easy install...once you get the right parts...my bad.
FWIIW Setting up the Tekonsha for my elect. brake 25' travel trailer ~ 5500 lbs was a matter of choosing factory recommended default settings and blue or pink screen.
