2023 Tundra with Retrax XR Pro

How was the experience buying from tonneaucovered? They are the least inexpensive for that model now. Quote from the RT forum vendor was higher and includes collecting state tax.

 

Would you mind sharing why you're getting rid of it?

 

I’ve always had soft tonneau covers, I guess that’s what I'm used too..Noting wrong with my Retrax, it’s less than a year old. I’m leaning towards going back to a soft cover.

 

I put the XR PRo on this past week. Took me less than 1 hour by myself. I also installed the same model on my 2020, so I was a little ahead of the curve. Great cover for me though.

I did the install on the XR Pro, bought it from tonneaucovered for $200 less than the least expensive I could find. Shipped from ND (I assume straight from the Retrax factory) to my door. I did have a little trouble with the screws on the sides of the canisters, didn't seem to want to get in all the way, and had a hell of a time adjusting using the allen key on the nylon adjusters in the rear...I'm off by maybe 1/4" so it's not super smooth in the rear. I also stripped them and will need to call up retrax.

 

Sorry to hear this. The Allen key in the Nylon is purely to hold in place while you clamp down with the metal fasteners in the rails. They are not to be torqued up. The measurements across the width are the most important when tightening up the rail clamps.

No worries, I still love the look and function of the cover and know I just need to adjust it further. I agree with your statement of them not to be torqued but that's not what I meant. The nylon pieces on both sides of the metal fasteners are to be used for widening/narrowing the rails. My nylon (adjustment) pieces were only half way through the rail (not touching the truck at all) and they were super hard to turn already; let alone getting to a point where they would push the rail to narrow it close to the 58 5/8" measurement of the front and second measuring spots. Just a heads-up for anyone having trouble like myself. I still saved $700 from having an authorized dealer install it (they couldn't budge on price due to the supplier...).

Do you have any pictures with the UpTop and its fit by the bed and RVM cameras? Do the rack interfere with the video RVM at all or is it tall enough to clear?

 

Sorry, I just saw this. I don't get on here as often as I should. Purchasing from them was a breeze and shipping was great. They were the least expensive I could find, when I bought. You'll probably have to do some shipping around to find the best deal.

 

Has anyone with the XR Pro been able to use the factory adjustable tie downs on the bedrail system or does the cover take up too much space?

 

Yes, I kept the tie downs. You do have to install them before the XR, so you are for sure limited in where they can be placed.

 

I was able to remove them and place them in a different spot after I installed my Retrax… just had to loosen the screw a bit more.
