Added MTS/Crawl Control switch to Platinum CrewMax

I hear you. And will go this route if nothing else. Mostly just being stubborn and would like an oem option. Huge fan of not splicing or cutting as little as possible when building a vehicle. Especially with what the truck cost. And if we can get to that point, surely we can add a 4hi bypass to the circuit.

 

so i'm a little confused...is there any benefit to swapping out JUST the MTS/Crawl control switch on a NON-offroad model?
To clarify, the truck only has the drive mode and tow/haul selector.

 

New to forum, my 2023 Limited non Off Road package, installed MTS/Crawl switch and nothing happened. Might need the MTS module like my gx460 when adding this. From my research, the MTS switch will work on higher trim models with the hybrid motor to get MTS.

 

So I have a 23 Tundra Platinum and decided to try the switch out. Installed easy and everything lights up even shows the MTS modes on the Digital dash. I have not confirmed if it actually changes anything in the drivetrain though. It will definitely not have the crawl control since the platinum doesn't have the factory rear locker. Ill try to up date once I get out and try it in 4wd.

 

Did you have to take the center console apart to install the switch or just pry the switch out with the pry tool like some members had done?

 

It was super easy and you dont have to remove any of the center console. I just used a trim tool to pop the module out. The wires on mine were super short so it was a little tight to unplug it and plug the new one back in but overall maybe 5min job.

 

Sorry for the late reply. As I mentioned earlier, the multi terrain looks like is working but not the Crawl or DAC

 

On a standard sr5 sx does the addition of the MTS controller prompt a visual of the sand, snow, mud, modes on the dash?

84970-0C010. Put this in my 23 tundra sr. It lights up when the interior lights are on but doesn’t seem to do anything else. Just wondering if any of you have any advice on what to do next.

 

Will this mess with any of my factory options. I have avs, and want to make sure if I switch the switch, my comfort, sport+, etc will work fine

 

I have the platinum trim with the AVS and all the driving modes still work. Comfort, sport +, custom, eco etc.

For the question on the SR trim, I believe a prior post indicated that the switch did not activate the MTS. Make sure you try putting the truck into 4H or 4L first then try hitting the MTS button.

 

Yeah I’m not getting anything to come up whether in 4wh or L. It lights up with the rest of the ambient lighting but that is all. When I ordered the part it even said it was compatible with the SR trim. Not sure if I’m missing another component or it needs programmed.

 

After changing this out I got a cel any ideas why/how to clear it?

 

Would love to know how this turns out. Have an SR myself. Wonder if it’s software locked or there’s mechanical components that aren’t installed

 

I ordered the next control switch down trim wise. I believe it only has mode and tow/haul. The parts dept said I could hook it up in the parking lot and if it didn’t work I could box it up and return in. I’ll keep you posted!

 

what do you currently have in your truck?

 

Stock it comes with a change dish where the control switch is. But when you pull it out the wiring plug is attached to it.

I ordered the 84970-0C010 MTS /DAC Crawl switch last week. It arrived today and was a 5-minute install. Only the Drive Mode and Tow Haul light up. All switches illuminate when I turn the lights on. I have a 2022 SR5 4X4 non-TRD.

 

Put it in 4x4 then try mts.

I put it in 4h & 4l, nothing.

 

Just put one on Friday, MTS comes up with the options for mud, sand, etc, but like folks have said previously, Crawl Control nothing, as I don't have the locking diff.

 

Tried the lower model switch today with only the mode and tow/hall buttons. (23 SR). It didnt work either just like the switch with MTS etc. Lights up with ambient lighting but nothing else and does not work in 4WD. Hi or low.

 

Oh well… I guess manual S8 gear will do for now when towing. Probably does the same thing.

 

So, I hate to be redundant but several different models are in debate on this thread and I'd like to get clarification before I buy the MTS Switch.
I have a 2023 Platinum 4x4 non-hybrid, no AVS/TRD - just the standard suspension. If I get the MTS switch will I get the MTS options/visuals on my LCD gauge cluster? Since I have all the cameras, will the special off-road view modes work? Will the added MTS modes work on the drivetrain aside from DAC & crawl control?
