I'm looking to upgrade my headlight to some with the black housings; however, all that I see for sale are for the DC only. Does anyone know of a source for Access Cab lights (2006 SR5)?

    Rock auto doesn’t have any?

Be sure to get CAPA certified housings if you want them to last more than a couple years w/o hazing

Mine are about 8 years old. I recently reconditioned them.

I had already been to Amazon and everything that popped-up was for the DC. That's exactly the look I like. Are they bright enough? Will I need to upgrade bulbs? Are they plug-and-play, or do I have to try to make other mods to avoid electrical gremlins?

BTW, Scotty Kilmer (YouTube mechanic personality) claims that if you'll wipe them down with a product called Plexus a few times a year that they'll never fade. That only applies to new ones though. Once they have UV damage, you just have to keep polishing them.

They literally bolt right in to the OEM housing. I am using standard incandescent bulbs. The brightness will come from the bulbs that you are using. If you want to do something like LED, that’s possible. If you have fog lights, there’s something that you’ll need to purchase in order to use LED headlights with the fog lights.

In a moment of elation and bliss, I made a wedding vow to provide her with a comfortable future, where she will never have to work or worry about money. That damn thing is still number one on that honey-do-list

Scotty Kilmer can also be found giving Meguiar's spray-on headlight protectant a rimjob in other videos. The guy is a shill.

I'm sure Aerospace 303 probably does the same thing. (keeps them protected from UV, thus prevents oxidation)

Let them oxidize. Wet sand, and clearcoat.

Well, shit. Excellent source, but nobody appears to be making the black headlight assemblies for the 05-06 Access Cab. Plenty of standard assemblies to be had, but no black.

Yup, I'm coming up the same.

When I look up OEM headlights, there's a clear division in the system that says "late model access cab". When I look at Aakon's offerings, knowing they're the only one I'm aware of that take standard bulbs and don't require hacky custom wiring, they only show as 2000-2004 model access cab. Granted, a lot of the DC headlights show as 05-07 also, but there were definitely '04 DC made.

Some folks on here have modded their own headlights to black. I can't recall who it was offhand, but they just posted up pics within the last couple months. That's always an option. I personally don't like the look, unless it's on black trucks. I think it looks very I'm-a-suburban-highschool-kid otherwise... but everyone has their own taste.

I will say, I did see one maroon truck on here that had black headlights, and it looked alright, but they smoked/blacked out tastefully here or there kinda creating a more-mature look.

There's always room for exceptions to the rule.

My concern with the DIY black route would be damaging the seals and inviting moisture into the housings. Looks like I'll just have to try to restore my current ones.

The 3M kit at the local auto parts store, and is what I've used on cars for family members with good success. The wipe-on clear packs are super easy. You just need to make sure you don't need to drive the car for 24 hours so the clear has time to cure. But the results I've seen from other members on here with the Cerakote kits is damn impressive.

How good yours come out depends on two things:
    • How much time and effort you spend on properly sanding everything smooth
    • How patient and attentive you are with the clearcoat, especially on cure times

Just drill a small hole in the bottom of the assembly if you find moisture. Problem solved.

    It's good
For that price and Amazon, I would try them, you have 30 days to return them if you don’t like them. I just did some similar for an 05 DC. They aren’t CAPA and I expect hazing eventually, but the Amazon ceracote cleaner sander is cheap and works great. I replaced mine because the rubber on the back was shot and I was killing bulbs. Mine came with new rubber seals and fit was fair enough. I did have to adjust them down a bit. If you are in the $100 plus range seems like it’s worth a look. Won’t last for years necessarily, but…..

I think the biggest issue is, DC lights are a different shape, and the 2000-2004 AC lights don't have the 'teardrop' always-on light provision down in the corner. The latter would be an option, but OP wouldn't have a place to stick that bulb, so it'd just be on, dangling, and adding risk for electrical shorts.
