Just do what I did and torque everything to spec after forgetting the Loctite.

I would almost guarantee that the average tech at the dealership is reusing old bolts and not using any Loctite.

Spacers? I'm about to put 275/70s on some 17x8.5s with -6mm offset. Debating on Spidertrax spacers, but not sure if I need them or not.

What's your price? MSRP is $19.50/each. Of course I'd be willing to go over that due to rarity, but nothing stupid.

You bought wheels without calculating backspace? Ballsy!

That setup will give you 4.51” backspace which will put the edge of your tire basically flush with the fender flare, or give about an inch of poke if you don’t have fender flares and you’ll be slinging shit all over your truck. If you have flares, spacers would have to poking however much the spacer is thick, and you’ll be slinging shit all over your truck.

You may rub flaps or pinch weld depending on tire choice and lift/alignment. Saying that as someone who is lifted and is currently selling a brand new wheel setup (at a hefty loss) that netted me 4.5” backspace over in the wheels & tires sales section of the forum. I was running 275/70r17 on mine. Rub, rub, rub!

Ideal backspace on these trucks seems to be around 4.7-4.8”. OEM is basically 5”. Shocking 1/4” and one moderate tire size hop can make that big of a difference but … it is what it is. I spent the money to FAFO the hard way. Tire size selection, lift, and alignment will all be factors to consider.

I wish you better luck than I had with 4.5” backspace. I think the shop could’ve aligned me out and I could’ve pulled my front mudflaps but I opted to just give in and aim for 4.75 backspace on 275/70r17. Problem basically solved.

Lots of people go red. I went blue, torqued to bolt spec, I’m running OEM/factory bolts. Knew I’d be replacing within the next couple years anyway. There were signs threadlock was used during the previous bolt install (i.e. LBJ recall service).

    Dark blue line = banned.
Light blue line = confirmed LEO, I think?
Bright red line = confirmed FD, I think?

I just talked to the guy (Dustin, maybe?) at FN Wheels who said that he was running the exact same wheels on the exact same truck, so I just assumed that they'd fit. Mine's leveled, at a minimum, and I have a LOT of wheel well space running my current OEM 10-spokes with 265/70/R17s. There's a thread here on max tire sizes that says 275/70/17s will fit with a leveling kit. I'm less worried about rubbing than I am poke. I have flares and want them to come out as close to the edge of the flare as possible. My current setup seems like my 265/70/17s are tiny and are tucked way up under the truck.

Blue for banned is dumb. Should be black. So unnecessarily confusing. Also, should go with another way to support public servants than strikethrough. But cat is out of the bag now and we all are perpetually confused.

I should check my backspacing. Don’t think I have any rub but I don’t get out and play so I dunno.

I’m supposedly on 4.5” backspacing on my 16x8 wheels. I added 1.25” spacers due to them being tucked under the flares too much.

    What tire diameter?

Potentially a difference from earlier models to later models? Wasn’t there a difference with knuckles and LBJs that pushed things in/out more? Maybe I’m remembering wrong.

I also have a really f’n aggressive AT tire on my truck compared to others, maybe?

Yes, members with a DC like @abcinv are running KO2 @ 275/70r17 leveled with strut spacers and no rub, I think with mudflaps intact (on OEM 5 spoke splits, so 5.0” bs). YMMV. I’ll be interested to see where you land, honestly. Data/input variety is a good thing. When you get things on, hit a parking lot go full-lock while stopped, then creep forward left, stop, full lock again to creep forward right. Repeat in reverse and let us know if you rub in any case. I rubbed moderately forward and reverse at 3/4* lock, and at partial lock at bumps.

Oh and there is a thread on here with poke images. I think I updated both of my recent wheel sets with reference pics of tuck/poke.

Yeah, I don’t think I’d be rubbing if my tread profile was that tame. I’d probably have a good inch or so of clearance. The Mickeys I went with are pretty chonk.

Next set of tires will be 285/75/16 and more aggressive. I don’t daily this thing anymore so it can go beast mode now.

Best mode would be 35's. :benchpress:

But 33's look really good on our trucks with minimal effort needed to fit.

Me either. Not anytime soon at least. I'm not interested in cutting my truck up.

I may try pizza cutters next.
