    Pleased to report...

Test drove a new 2024 platinum with avs this week.

It is quuuuiiiieeettt! At 85mph, no noises at all, just slight quiet wind noise somewhere in the distance above or far away from the truck.

So so much quieter than my 2022 1794 which had the driver side runner changed twice and while whistling is 99% gone, overall it's just loud... And wind noise is much more pronounced.

Oh... And the avs suspension is so much better at making road bumps quietly disappear. Day and night comparing to my current regular non trd suspension shocks

Can anyone tell me what the expected wind noise is on a 23 Platinum? When I was on the freeway a couple of days ago and turned down the music, I got a slight hint of wind noise. I'd like to make that zero if I possibly can.

Well... It depends lol. I'm going to take a huge hit with the resale value and taxes here in CA. But I may splurge on it as my bday present to myself... Pending wife approval.

I'm going to ping you more about the avs suspension since you're the only one who I know has it. I'm debating between Trd suspension or AVS. I'm worried that avs may not be reliable in the long run, although I doubt I'll own this truck for more than 10 years, but who knows...

I just explained it couple posts above. Very little noise or wind noise... At 85mph wind noise sounded like a slight breeze somewhere in the distance outside of the truck (to be expected as truck has worse aerodynamics than a refrigerator).

You can't do anything to reduce the wind noise. I had dealer replace window runner twice to fix whistling issue while driving on highway, it's mostly fixed but issue still comes back 5% of the time when wind hits truck in the right angle

Thank god I don't have the whistling. The truck I'm coming from was extremely loud with the outside noise. Despite much sweat and money put into experimentation, I could never defeat it. Now, with my new truck, significantly quieter and I'm grateful. I guess in my mind I've paid my wind noise dues for my lifetime and I should never have to hear wind again in a truck. When I hear the wind in my truck, it's not high-pitched, but it is slightly noticeable...probably because of my PTSD from my last truck.

What do you guys think of this mod to defeat wind noise? I tried it on my last truck (F150) and it didn't do all that much, unfortunately. Could be because the wind was coming in from somewhere else. I thought I'd get your thoughts. Maybe one of you has tried this

I'll give this a shot, I have narrowed down my wind noise on both passenger and drivers side and I think this may help/reduce the noise on the passenger side at least. That said, I still think that it may be the door that needs tweeking to fit the frame better, and not just the seals.

I have SR5 and road noise is on par with the three other trucks I have owned. They were all mid high or loaded GMs or Rams.

I have a 2023 tundra limited. I had the dealer install the trd lift kit. My truck has had a high pitched annoying wind whistle since about 1500 miles. Dealer has replaced driver side door seal around the door and the door hinge seal, which did nothing. Last night with the help of a friend I found where the noise is coming from on my truck. Air entering through engine bay and fender area enters through a air pocket by hood hinges and air hits the windshield seals at the bottom and create an annoying wind whistle at anything over 27 mph. I was able to get this sound to go away by using a piece of foam on each side under the plastic trim at back of hood and bottom of windshield on each side. I plan on talking to my dealer about it. Maybe new windshield seals will solve the problem, but would still put foam or similar in the area described to slow the wind down. Ill get some pics soon to show the area. By the way, just realized last night as well, that when the dealer installed my trd lift, they removed my factory fig lights and put blanks in place! So now I have to deal with them on getting those back! My experience has been nothing but annoying with the toyota dealer. From them "throwing away all my factory suspension components" with 300 miles on them, to now this!

Yes, we were there the sane day they finished the lift. I was like there is no way they trashed that stuff. They ended up paying another customer having the lift installed to buy his factory stuff to give to me. Insane!

This is the trim piece that I put foam under. This is looking down on back of hood area, where windshield goes into cowl

Do you mean like wider shot from front of truck towards the hinge area?

Took a short 45 min trip to San Jose yesterday...

Wife's like... The whining sound of transmission when driving over 78mph isn't a problem really... truck is noisy anyway, and it's hard to hear music due to the wind noise.

Petty sad for a new $80k truck...

just trade it and move on, your clearly not happy with it , chalk it first year model purchase .

life’s too short to piss around with it .

like I said mines one of the quiet trucks I’ve ever been in but it was built way after yours

If I trade it in, who's going to be posting here and bitching about it daily.. Lol

I'm still debating on it. Such a colossal waste of money... Depreciation and taxes loss here in CA. I'll be $15-20k out. Waiting to close a big deal at work so I can treat myself.

Plus I just heard from someone who posted here couple days ago (Toyota dealer mechanic supposedly) that the engine bearing failures aren't resolved, and could happen on 2024 too.

Either way, I'm waiting for a 1794 silver, saddle tan with avs, which isn't any around here... Found one 10 hours away in Oregon but it got sold within a week

I had to trade mine in. The decision was made after a 10 mile road trip. The cabin was so noisy I could barely hear the music when almost all the way turned up. Just insane that Toyota overlooked this on a $70k truck. Anyway I went back to RAM and now I feel like I'm driving in a comfortable living room. I do miss the tundra and if they fix the noise issue I would be back in one in the future.

Ding Ding. Never had a noisy cabin in my RAM and GMC trucks. But, they all had acoustic glass like the capstone. I wonder if the capstone guys have this issue.

My June ‘23 build 1794 is as quiet as any vehicle I’ve owned, including a 2008 and 2015 Tundras. I feel lucky.

the platinum and 1794 have acoustic windshields , the capstone adds the side glass as well

but I don’t think that has much to do with it, my tundra is one of the quietest vehicles I’ve been in

Higheay speeds I was getting 59-60 dB holding it up by the window , it’s pretty damn quiet in there

Yep acoustic glass makes a huge difference on the doors. No way your truck is 60dba at 90 mph.

    90 mph?

who said anything about that lol.

the highways around are 55 mph. I haven’t taken a measurement on the interstate going faster, but even then I never drive that fast speed limit is 70 max west of here .

That's where it matters on long road trips driving 85 to 90 mph.

ok , I don’t drive like that so I don’t know what the dB would be in that situation , I’m sure higher than the 60 I got at normal county or state highway speeds

It’s really quiet for what I do so far , I do have very quiet p rated coopers that helps
