FWIW, BB site says there is an open box unit available at their Pineville Outlet location. Not sure if that's anywhere near you, but maybe they'll sell it at the sale price?

Thanks for sharing this! Walked into BB on Sunday, asked the guy about Alpine, no chance as it’s completely out of stock. (The guy couldn’t believe the price). So I told him, could you try another SKU and bam, the Kenwood will be delivered to my house tomorrow. Super excited.

Any recommendations on the install? I guess I should just get the Crutchfield kit and follow the instructions? LOL

Is there anyway to bypass having to use the emergency brake to access the audio settings? I installed the 509 in the wife's 4runner and that is the one feature I do not like.

How did the install go? How’s it look covering all the AC controls?

 

I cannot really see how a 9" would cover the AC controls. My wife has no problem with hers and she has an 11"

 

I finally got my wife's installed today. Covers a little bit of the bottom of the vents but not enough to cause any airflow issues. Would have been done about 4 hours earlier but I didn't do the whole "dig into the settings and turn on the backup camera" even though the fucker said on another screen there were no cameras connected.

I put it on the very bottom of the Alpine bracket and put the radio at the top of the trim with the pocket underneath. I also ended up cutting the backend off of the pocket and then cut a couple of inches off, then pushing the backend in and gluing it. I taped the parking brake bypass to it along with the Maestro. I may open it back up and make one of the holes big enough on the pocket to push the USB C dongle that came with the RR2 through it so if I have an issue with bluetooth flashing, I can just plug in through the pocket.

I was also able to stick the Sirius XM behind the trim and above the hazard switch. Not a whole lot of room to work with.

Thanks. The install wasn't so bad - it was mostly wrapping my head around the wiring and I was making it a lot more complicated than it was. You've got a hell of a crew up there to help you out.

Is there a 9in version of the kenwood on clearance?

 

I think the floating screen Kenwood only comes in a 10.1"

I got that. Seems silly you cannot adjust audio settings while it’s moving. Don’t really want to pull it back out it for the bypass.
