    Crayon explanation

don’t get crazy setting levels. Make small changes. +3db is perceived as twice as loud.

If you screw ur shit up it’s not the forums fault. People do this professionally if you need help.

This is also the reason I like subtractive eq. If ur highs are two loud don’t boost mids and lows to make it right just bring down the highs. If it sounds flat take some mid out of it and see if that helps.

No, the old HU was the only thing that was stock until now. It's a 5-channel Alpine, 10" Alpine sub, JBL 6x9 front, Infinity 6.5 rear. All that was running through speaker level, but I ran RCAs for this HU. I even kept my old boxes all these years.

Ok so I now know this system should rock. Did you change the settings on the amps to high level input instead of low (speaker)
Can you send me pics of the amp settings?

Anyone else having an issue with the clock not reflecting the time? I've completed the clock settings, but still nothing but blank lines for the time. I read to ensure the gps antenna is connected which it is (i get the audible confirmation at start up). I'm using the custom adapter to retain the facory gps antenna if that has anything to do with it.

I had incorrect time before I set the time zone from UTC. Have you set your 12/24 hour format yet? Maybe that will trigger it?

Are you using the gps adapter to OEM antenna? Or the Alpine gps antenna? I’m pretty sure time gets pulled from GPS

I'm using the gps adapter to OEM antenna. The one that @RainMan_PNW found. Do you think that is the issue? Must I run the Alpine antenna for the time to show?

Swap the lead you used to the adapter. You have two stock gps antennas - one for nav and one for XM. Only one worked for aftermarket HU iirc.

I'm also running the Sirius XM SXV300 tuner with an adapter. I haven't yet called to swap the subscription over so cannot comment if that is currently working or not.

So you're saying I can only use ONE of the stock antennas? Right now the Sirius Tuner is connected to the OEM antenna (white connector) and then I have the other Antenna lead (black connector) connected to the Alpine via the above adapter.

I never ran XM on my aftermarket HU, I just recall have to swap the connectors I had used to get everything working properly when I installed the Kenwood a few years ago. I’m currently just running the GPS antenna that came in the box.

Ok, maybe another day I'll pull the head unit and try swapping to the Alpine antenna and see if that makes a difference.

Thanks, I'll try swapping to the Alpine antenna and see if that resolves the clock issue. I'll be sure to post what the fix is once I figure it out as I know others here are using that adapter as well.

Yeah, I was one of those professionals for many years and I’ve seen far too many people wreck their gear from blindly taking advice from others without evaluating what it is they listen to, overall goals for the system and how loud they really do play their stereo.

That might be my problem then. I wrote down from an earlier post that white was XM and black was GPS and that is how I connected them during the install. Guess I might need to flip them. I just trying to swap my Sirius subscription over right now, so I'll see if that even works with how it's connected currently.

The two adapters I bought have different colored connectors on them that I’m pretty sure correspond to the factory antennas. The GPS harness has a white connector and the XM one is black. I feel like they did that on purpose.

Ok, so switching the connectors fixed the issue. The head unit now displays the time and sirius xm is working as well, both from the OEM antennas.

Thanks for everyone's help in troubleshooting.

    The Dirty T ( ^_^)_且
So after a bunch of great advice from @ToyoMafia I changed a few things that I had missed and the system is sounding much better, still final tweaking to be done, but now I have a good starting point. Many thanks again!

Also, while fucking with the settings, I found vehicle specific settings that can be changed. For example, a few years ago I had turned on the factory alarm using a laptop and Techstream. It worked but became a PITA cause it would auto-set every time you cycled the key. Example is we keep the ice chest in the back seat when we go camping and I can't count how many times I would arrive back at camp, put the keys in the trailer, open the back door for a beer, and sit down only to have the alarm go off as I rush into the trailer for the truck keys. Anyways, one of the HU settings is to turn the alarm on/off and some like light settings, now without needing Techstream

I ended up needing a Sirius tuner. Then used one of the adapters. Not sure if that is a 2020 radio thing. Have to replace the mic soon since the cord was nicked. Hopefully the last time taking this thing out.

All years will require an aftermarket xm tuner unless the aftermarket HU you buy has one integrated (rare)

Picture of the volume/bass knob installed. I placed it where I previously had my FRAC switches. The knob covered one of the holes I had and the other I just popped a grommet in to look a little more refined. The knob works great and is in a perfect position since my arm is always on the center armrest. I wasn't a fan of mounting the knob on the side of the radio with the included bracket.

Are you having any issues with it connecting when you start the truck? When I first paired it, it worked fine. Ever since it won't reconnect even when I turn it on first before I start the truck.
