Anybody take their front swaybar off? Can you post pics?
If you did remove it, what did you put in place of the sway bar links to act as steering stops?

A ton of Great advice on these forums but I will throw in my .02 cents. If you guys are building a suspension for off-road use then a lot of the added extras would be necessary but for the street queen builds, stop wasting ur money on things that you don’t need. For up to a 2.5/1 lift, the stock UCA’s are fine, the black axles are fine, differential drops are not necessary, the stock brake lines are fine, the stock pan hard bar is fine, I do recommend a sway bar drop kit and they are cheap. I also recommend staying away from spacer lifts, they achieve the look but destroy the ride . I suggest dobinson or Icon which aren’t too expensive and get the look and factory like ride with better responsiveness. All will work and will align very well. Anytime you modify components/parts they may wear a little faster but not enough to warrant buying everything that isn’t necessary. My 2020 was built this way and now my 2023 and never had an issue. For bigger lifts yes by all means spend away

Hello. I am new to the forums and bought my Tundra this week! Looking for opinions or feedback here. I have a '22 SR5 2wd with the rear airbags and I would like to fit a 35" with some stance or "poke".. I am currently leaning towards the Readylift 3" SST kit. After reading through the forums, I don't think the Westcott preload kit is a good idea. Even though it's 2wd, I still like to have fun and use the truck. Plus I would like decent ride quality. I would like to do a coil-over kit if it wasn't for the rear airbags but I don't want to get rid of them (maybe front coil-over with new rear shock and airbag spacer??)

Any feedback on the 3" SST Readylift kit or any other suggestion for trucks with the rear air bags?

Can anyone vouch for the Dobinson MRR/MRA set? Does it ride like a cadillac on the hwy or can it..when adjusted properly?

I got the 2" fronts/1" rears 0-110s on the way
OTD it was approx 3.2k for the fronts, rears, and an adjustable panhard from mainland overland.

I've been looking for reviews, with nothing definitive on the tundra


I've read that they are comparable to the kings, and that they may or may not require rebuilds as often as the kings.

Someone needs to acquire both suspension set-ups so we can put this to rest.

 

Spent the last 45 mins going through this thread. Seems like everyone is pretty happy with the Dobinson setup. I just got the Icon Stage 2 kit with Billet UCAs and 35s installed last week but left the stock rear coils in. Lifted the front about 2.25" and it's pretty leveled with a tiny bit of rake. Looks good and drives great but the more I look at the truck, the more I feel it should be a little higher.

Anyone running the Icon 1.25" rear coils? Looking to get some feedback and see some pics of what I could be expecting. I'm getting either the Dobinson 1" or these Icons to match the rest of the setup.

 

I have a 22 Platinum and have kept it stock. Looking to see if there's a simple way to increase the front height to get rid of some fo the rake. Don't think it would require much, maybe 1" or so.
Has anyone done this and if so how? Not looking to rebuild the suspension if possible.

 

couple coachbuilder shims up top might do it.. otherwise its the RC 1.75in kit or a set of trd pro take off fox shocks

 

I’m in the market for a new Tundra and will be wanting to add some height and 35’s. This thread has been great even though I don’t understand most if it. I was dead set on Westcott but not seeing great reviews here. Here is main question…I’m looking at the Limited…if I plan to do a dobinson, king or icon is there any real reason to do the trd off-road package or just go with normal limited? I will replace wheels and tires and obviously suspension…what else does trd off-road give you?

 

If you are replacing your suspension don’t waste ur money on trd off-road package, and for a small lift u don’t need the trd axles.

 

Awesome, thank you! Kind of what I figured. Building online it doesn’t look like you can do trd off-road with lunar anyway. Not sure if that’s a site glitch or new for 2024.

 

Don't forget the electronic locking rear axle. Not too easy to add later.

 

I actually realized that last night after the post and was going to ask that question. The diff driving modes (crawl, downhill descent) are only on the off-road package as well right?

 

Yes only on Off Road.

 

Correct. There was a platinum/1794 owner that swapped in the drive mode switch and I believe it added all functionality with the exception of crawl control.

Weighs significantly more, which gets taken out of the max payload, if it matters to you.

I'm still curious if Eaton will release a 22+ locker or LSD.

 

I would love to see a direct comparison that could prove a significant difference in weight. Having replaced standard gear sets with both mechanical locking and electric locking sets in the past, there is a negligible weight difference in the actual gears.

 

In my 4Runner, the e-locker in the ORP reduced payload by almost 400 lbs vs an equivalently specced SR5 Premium. Not sure what the hit is in the tundra. That was an almost 30% reduction in payload, though.

Edit - I'll concede that it's likely some of the weight came from the mechanical t-case shifter, wiring, and other harnesses required to control the functions/features involved in the additional driving modes.

 

Today I installed the Dr KDSS track bar relocation kit. It was pretty easy and straightforward. I did have to jack up the axle on the passenger side in order to get the track bar to locate correctly for the top bolt. I extended the axle full droop and it’s still not pulling on my brake lines, I have stock shocks and links.

My sway bar is basically level now so hopefully it will reduce any bump steer. I recently put a 35 underneath as my spare so I’m watching the clearance. I’m going to keep an eye on it to see if it touches.

 

Have you measured the axle for center yet? I need to adjust my Icon trackbar some more. I'm still about 3/4" long on one side.

 

How much rear lift do you have?

 

just upgraded from spacer lift to full suspension courtesy of King, Camburg and Icon. Ride is night and day different.

 

See you have a TRD sport too. Did you upgrade front axle too or still stock axle?
