Hey guys I decided to go ahead and debadge my truck. I did the usual method of heating the emblem followed by fishing line and a pinstripe removal tool to get rid of most the adhesive. I still have ghosting left behind and I even tried some 3M adhesive removal today with no luck. Anyone have advice on how to get rid of it?

That doesn't look like "ghosting", it looks raised.

I'd try clay bar, then some polish and finish with a wax.

If it's raised, it's just residual glue/adhesive and not paint fading (ghosting).

Some Automotive Goo Gone (gunk off, or whatever you USA guys call it), should get most of it off.

I'd still follow with a spot wash, spot wax.

as usual, start less aggressive and step up. start with wash, then clay bar, then light polish. i'd say maybe some APC, but some people do improper dilution ratios

    You could use a few things;
    DA buffer
    Maybe a de-greaser?
    All purpose cleaner
Goof Off (I would use min amount and avoid scrubbing...hell avoid scrubbing with anything as scrubbing is scratching)

The 3M adhesive remover was suppose to be similar to goof off but did not touch it all. I’m going to try clay bar and polish tomorrow and I will report back.

Since I have one I'd use a 3M eraser wheel to get that off.
But as others stated Goofoff should so it..

I did use a 3M eraser wheel to get most off but that is what I was left behind with. I went ahead this morning and used a claybar and polish. Looks wayyy better but there is still some showing. Not sure what my next step would be be. Nothing feels raised anymore. 55FBC9D6-838B-428F-8102-EFF62E4F4D6A.jpg

awesome thank you for that! I will give those a try and I was thinking the same. Maybe some Florida sun will help it fade away.

Goof Off is better than Goo Gone. Yes that's its real name lol. I bought it as a knock off comparison and it definitely knocked off Goo Gone. On stubborn stuff I spray it, wipe off the drip, then walk away for 5 min. Then it's elbow grease and a microfiber rag. I've gotten everything off that way unless it's actually ghosted.

for future reference, WD-40 can be used as an adhesive removed. i use it and love it. i know most people have that handy. for the few times i've used it like that, it seemed to work better than goo-gone

    ^ This.
I'd call it Goof Off, my wife called it Goo Gone.
She kept telling me I had the wrong name until I went out into the garage and showed her the can.

Goo Gone is 'safer' nobody wants that..:D

Also I always use latex gloves when using Goof Off.
It's hard to get that stink off your hands..

Goo Gone (milder) is bigger than Goof Off in Canada. To be honest, I didn't even know we had Goof Off until I just checked.

On both of my vehicles if you look at certain angles you can still see where badges were. Both are dark colors so maybe sun fade played a role even though i removed badges within 2-4 years of age on vehicle.
I've tried light rubbing compounds, waxes, pastes, polish, etc.
Nothing has totally addressed it for me so far.
I just ignore it now. Someone that isn't looking for it likely won't see it.

I am in the Tampa area. Ended up doing some additional passes with the claybar and the ghosting is very minimal at this point. Once this storm passes going to try some cutting polish like some others recommended. It’s hard to notice unless you’re looking for it.

Yes, you will see it EVERYTIME you look at it, but Joe Blow will never know it's there.
Hopefully the sun will even stuff out.

When I first did my TRD Pro grille, I was like WTF.
But after a few months in the sun, air, and weather it all blended in.
