pretty well explained in PDF in post 216:
The NHTSA Toyota notice of defect (https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2023/RMISC-23V566-8490.pdf) had a lot of good history on the problem. So, 14 TSRs and 27 warranty claims that may be related to the fuel line/brake line interference issue.

No need for further internet engineering -

The posts with the pics on the previous page tell you where it is. Looking at the rear passenger wheel well from the side, going straight towards the center of the truck. Just on top of the frame. One of Tony's later posts shows exactly where to approach this. You can't get in there with a cell phone unless you pull the wheel. Maybe not even then. My photos were with a borescope camera with the wheel still on.

I believe that would be the temp fix. Permanent fix seems to be a new plastic line that avoids that interference.

I actually made a nice little 3D printed clip that would snap onto the metal line and then separate the two lines. But I don't think I can get in there to snap it on. :-(. Maybe I'll try one of these days but I am not as spry as I used to be.

I suspect they need to replace the plastic tube on all trucks unless they can definitively determine that it never rubbed against the brake line. But in most cases it will have touched at some point, and in the interest of safety they can't have the repair tech reliably access how damaged, or not, the plastic tube is. So replacing it is the only sure way to remediate a potential problem. Besides, replacing it on every truck is probably cheaper than even one lawsuit from a death.

Yea I know others have stated that they would just open the door and run away if the truck is burning up. And that might work in many or most cases of a fire. But....that's not a truly safe way of looking at it as one can't be sure when the truck will go nuclear IF even a small fire were to start. The leak is just above that thing they call a gas tank :(

But this area is far from hot sports and ignition sources. So unlikely to light off before you smell it. IMO. Well, not just IMO. That is in the text of the NHTSA filing.

I don't know if you know this or not but almost all Japanese vehicles have the fuel door on the right hand side due to right hand drive but the Tundra was specifically made for America so they have a left hand side fuel door but I could see if the japan design studio designed the 3rd gen tundra then they would have placed it on the right side

At the dealer today for oil change, they had 5 Tundras for sale and told me there wasn’t a fix yet and it was nothing to worry about. Business as usual

they will say anything to get your signature then plead ignorance on the Mothership "stop sale" requirement.

    From pdf in post 216:
"Toyota visited the fuel tube supplier to understand the investigation results from other recovered fuel tubes, as well as to audit the current fuel tube manufacturing process. During this audit, new and recovered fuel tubes were inspected on a check fixture, and it was found that the shape of the fuel tubes was out of specification."

You maybe screwed. Or not. Might get one FOB or two. Might get re-enginered fuel line or not. Might not get possession until Stop Sale is ended for sure. When you get it just drive it! FYI - The fix for those of us in this mess is not stated to roll out until October.

Hard to say for certain. The dealer packet on the NHTSA recall page (https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2023/RCMN-23V566-3880.pdf) has non-hybrid trucks affected all the way up through "late" july 2023. Hybrid builds through early June 2023. The notice also makes it pretty clear the dealer will easily be able to see if the VIN on the new truck is affected by the recall through their vehicle inventory summary, so I'd imagine they'd be the best place to get confirmation. I'm not an expert, though. Just a bored guy who's been waiting for an allocation for two years, only to have the truck pulled from final sale the day after it hit the lot. The extra 6 weeks until the published temp fix won't kill me, but it definitely stings enough that I'm trying to get any idea at all as to when the service manager will have enough information from Toyota to make the fix and resolve the stop sale.

What would be interesting is for one of you guys with no recall get a photo of this area. I'd like to see what is different.

Edit: I just saw that Mike asked this same question a few posts above. So, I'll say, ditto.

Looks interesting, especially if they meant length when they said that the fuel tubes' "shape" was out of specification. A longer tube attaching at that clamp would solve the problem. Hard to tell if the clamp is the correct size for the thin tube, but maybe it would get a bushing or somesuch.

I’ll have it repaired when my 2nd fob comes next year. Fuel Sensor - They must have made a change. I’ve parked in my inclined driveway facing up and down for a month now and not getting any weird readings or late readings after filling up. Miles To Go reading seems to work too although the number at Full has been climbing as my mpg goes up (as expected) Last fill said a little over 500 to go.

I'd be willing to bet that's a solid no. From what was shared by Ryan the fix is to add an additional sending unit. Adding a sending unit will almost certainly require a new tank design. The issue at play is a long tank, and only one sending unit, at one end of the tank.
