Holy shit the driver side shock is putting up a fight. Lined everything up, but I cant get the damn mount hole to line up. BFS and prybar arent working.

Would loosening the LCA bolts help here? Knowing my luck I am sure theyre seized.

Otherside went in with a lift lift from a flathead screwdriver.

Disconnect the top link of the sway bar. That will help!

Got a decent pry bar? Put the SOB under shock and get it lined up after you loosen the sway bar. Get the bolt in and started, then hit with a hammer.

Careful driving a bolt through the holes with a hammer. It will mess up the threads.

That is a possibility, but sometimes you just gotta say "fck the fear" and button it up.

Like I told you yesterday. Detach the swaybar link dude. It'll give you a little more downward travel, potentially enough.

If that's not enough, don't be afraid to pop your upper balljoint loose. It's one nut and a cotter pin, and a lotta times a few BFH taps on the face of the control arm. It's advisable to thread the crown nut onto the shaft of the UBJ 'til its flush to catch the knuckle. Just don't be a dumbass like me and start wailing on the nut to punch the UBJ free, I damaged my crown nut that way

But yeah ... Don't just sit there and pry on your shit. Work smarter, not harder. Unbuckle that damn swaybar link first, I see the f'n thing attached in the pic. That should give you at least an inch or so.

PS @danb - torque specs for '05-'06 if it helps, note the legend in the bottom left corner so you don't over-torque anything:

For the sequoia, yes. I just won't have the time for it now. She bought it and hasn't even got to drive it. I'm gonna wait till it's not 100+ degrees outside.

For my truck, I'm not sure when it was done last. At least before 2014. It looked good when I inspected it. It's probably due as well.

Got it. Loosened sway bar link, loosened LCA bolts (spun freely), lifted bottom of shock enough to insert punch from left all the way through. Tightened ratchet strap, balanced 3 foot pry bar under left knee until the punch rattled, then forced the bolt through with the persuasion of a hammer and socket. No stripped threads. Some lame ass shit hahah but shes done.

    Figured I'd post here instead of a new thread . . .
Throwing new pads on the front end of my 2006 DC 2WD
So what's the consensus ?? . . . turn the rotors or no?
72K miles on orig. rotors . . . very little if any pulsing under braking.
I may do an upgrade to the whole system later next year . . . so really don't want to buy new rotors.
    TIA

Cant really turn the rotors. They are usually too thin and just makes the warping quickly return

Are you rotors worn out? I'm higher mile than you, original rotors, still plenty of steel and no warpage.

They don't 'feel' worn out (no chatter or vibration). . . I'll get a better visual tomorrow.
    I tow a boat . . . but it's really light . . . the previous owner towed a bigger boat with it . . . but only short trips, & no hills.
I was only asking in case folks here recommend it for better 'seating' of the pads.
In the past I've just swapped pads on my other trucks, & never had an issue . . . till the rotors were toast.

Every time my FGT needs brake pads, I buy new rotors too. They’re always nice and smooth with no vibrations.

Not a bad price considering brake pads run about 1/2 that. Did it cure a brake vibration or have you not had any?

My brakes were dragging because of an internal leak in the MC. & while fixing that i got new pads & rotors to hedge my bets. No vibration since. But i'm gentle on brakes. Opting to downshift when i can.
