Just finished this thread; awesome job. I was wondering if this truck was stored at a salt factory till you explained it. That said, love the MT and wish I could find one.

I wonder if the cab swap would be easier then doing the Sheetmetal work...:monocle:

I really like those rims may go with something like that on my 06.
    keep posting.

Close, but he's got a new frame under his. I do wish I had that bed, though.... Some of my repairs aren't aging as well as I would have hoped...

@Bmktw2 Fantastic work on this thing. I'm impressed with the self-alignment you did.

I was just shooting the breeze w/ @atomicnugget on that point: Nice beds, and how hard they are to come by north of the Mason-Dixon. I feel like we have ample front-enders at salvage yards down here with nice beds, no rust. I don't envy y'all up there.

LOL, it’s hard up here. In my experience in the current market you either run into one of three issues,

    1. You either got some hard frame rust issues or evidence of it starting. The best chance you have is one from a private seller, in almost all my cases inquiring at a stealership, they have frame rust which they covered with undercoating or a shotty paint job.

    2. something wrong either mechanically, or cosmetically, in either case your got your hands full in fixing something. Even if it looks fine, chances are the carfax will show an accident.

    3. everything is perfect with the frame, minimum fixing needed, and clean history, prob migrated from the south, but the seller knows that and caters the $$$ accordingly.

very rare in my case to see a deal that has all three covered.

Id add a 4th in saying that fb marketplace sucks balls for sellers communicating with you but that might just be a personal experience.

Can confirm #4 is not just you. It sucks all way around. I personally don't shop on FB (I browse then look elsewhere) but I do sell on FB (small household stuff, lights, stands, whatever-my-wife-wants-to-get-rid-of stuff).....

I bought my Tundra on FB marketplace...worked out well. But I had some less that pleasant experiences with other listings before I got this one Like driving ~ one hour to see a 4WD truck that was in fact a 2WD, for example)

Would you mind posting a pic of the other side of the passenger door card, please? I have to replace my grab handle and I'm curious about how it mounts. I don't want to pull my door card until I have the replacement in hand.

Worth noting that entire white center section pops out, it's just melt-welded in. Each of those plasti-welds has a hollow core allowing you to use a short-shank panhead screw to re-mount. So if you happen to have a donor panel with a good insert you want to swap over @w666 , check this out and you'll see what I'm saying.

It's worth mentioning, if you have the door panel off, you'd be amazed how clean you can get things with a stiff bristle brush and some Simple Green. Wet the fabric, spray with simple green, scrub it in, use a spray nozzle to rinse it out fully. Or get some Super 77 3M spray-on adhesive and just reupholster the insert...

Got behind the trim with a gasket scraper
    IMG_20230806_093418.jpg
Used the pressure washer to remove the old double sided tape.
    IMG_20230806_093401.jpg

Finally got all the matching green trim installed
    IMG_20230806_124359.jpg

Also used a buffer and some polishing compound to shine the entire truck up a little bit. I like how it turned out.

You would too if your other transportation option was a bicycle.

Ginnie Spring is one of my old spots. That, Blue Springs (good free diving) and the Itchetucknee. There was a quarry we used to hit often also that had some pretty wicked dive spots along the way.

Chainsaw looks so damn happy in those pics, happiest I've seen him yet. Must've been great to let loose and drop the inspector's hat for a minute.

Still impressed w/how far you've come with the truck. Looks great. I was skeptical at first!

My favorite place in Florida is Weeki Wachee. We vacationed there with my family and spent the weekend kayaking with the manatees in the crystal clear spring water. Awesome place.

Ya Chainsaw is having a blast running around without having to make so many executive decisions and is happy with the Tuntra truck build as am I right now

The river is higher than I've ever seen it. The tanic water is overwhelming the spring

I will say, that awesome tannic water, some of the gulfside beaches, and the fishing are really the only thing I miss with FL. I never realized how miserable I was there until I GTFO. I had withdrawals the first couple of years, but it continued getting crazier than it already was, and is batshit at this point.
