Mine HAD the same elbow stain by the pull handle.

I also had a pretty big elbow stain on the center console.

After that BIG cleaning job 4 years ago, I gave up.

@Rex Kramer what clamps did your old leer use to attach to the bed? I can’t get an answer on correct ones and I’m about ready to just make an overkill setup unless the originals are fancy

I picked up some new to me ones off of @lsaami's part out. They should be here today, but when they'll be installed is another matter. After working out in the heat all day, the last thing I wanna do on the weekend is work in the heat some more. I'm over summer already.

I’ve been looking at those grounding flaps that hang off the rear axle. Only bad reviews are those stating that do-gooders will constantly flag you down thinking you have some road debris stuck to your truck. Nobody know what they are anymore.

I see those all the time on scissor lifts, bucket lifts, fork lifts, and pack mules all the time. I'm used to them.

You are correct though. Nobody knows anymore.

Little known fact, I practically have a phobia of removing door panels. I break the damn plastic clips every time. I'd rather replace a set of leaf springs, by myself in the dark again, than touch a door panel.

You and me both. I look at the damn thing wrong and snap half of em. I might start the beers AFTER I get both panels off. Maybe that's the problem. :drunk:

Just buy a pack off Amazon. I’ve taken the panels off a few times and only broken a couple but it does help to have the plastic panel pullers

I was thinking that, or maybe a nice plaid velour, just gotta be careful, anything with a line or pattern requires OCD eyes to get it straight.

Auto upholstery material can be had cheap. Good spray adhesive, however, is not. When doing vertical panels and headliners, accept nothing but 3M 08090 Yellow Super Trim Adhesive, it lasts a lifetime when you use correctly. Correct usage is you properly clean the old panel, spray the panel, spray the back of the fabric, wait for the full tack time, then adhere the fabric to the panel in the most logical way possible and whatever you do DON'T touch the adhesive, it'll stick to everything :D

Once you pop the door panel off, remove the following bits that are attached to the white part of the door card:
    • Pop off the pinch-nuts holding the tweeter cover on (if migrating the speaker to a new door, else skip this step)
    • Pop out the door controls
    • Pop off the pull handle
    • Anything I'm forgetting
With everything off the white door insert panel, you'll need to remove the little faux-nuts attaching the white inner panel to the door card, as you see below, they're mounted on melted plastic posts as you see in the pic. With the inner part of the door off, do whatever you want. Peel the old fabric off and clean the panel. Line-X that shit. Paint it. Or get some quality spray-on adhesive and fabric and reupholster it. You can literally use anything, just make sure it's automotive or marine grade material. You may want to UV coat it with Aerospace 303 after everything is dry to avoid sun fading.

When done, I've seen on other cars where the shops will do one of two things: Either re-install the faux-nuts and mushroom-melt the plastic nub on top of them to seal, or they'll shave the plastic nub off and install an appropriately sized washer and screw to hold the inner panel to the door card, as you see in my pic below. Someone else did that, FYI, I just found my door like this when I replaced my speakers.

Some of those are dealer or port installed, or aftermarket completely. The newer 4runners have some really slick, form matching steps, and also others that look like garbage too.
