What size pulley on the Whipple? Smaller pulley doesn’t really tell the whole story, as technically my 80mm is also a smaller pulley lol.

I'm just hoping that's the problem.. going to install the relay on Sunday. Wideband still acts delayed in its new location.. I'll fight that battle after the fuel pressure gets sorted out and may just need a "reset" procedure as noted previously

 

So the problems started when you did headers and the 75mm at the same time? If so I’d be curious if it still has problems after swapping the 80 back on with the headers. May indicate if there’s more going on there, I forget your exact symptoms with your issues though. Don’t mind me, just pondering things lol.

 

Correct. Base pressure is good currently at idle but when I drive around and get into boost, fuel pressure drops rather than increases. I didnt have this problem prior to pulley/headers.

Chris told me to either put the 80mm back on or install the relay. I dont daily my truck anymore and im too busy until the weekend to mess with it unfortunately.

 

The question is what boost pressure? Our pullies aren’t the same size as the others. We’re one step down from what comes stock. I saw a spike of 9.5 then settled to 8.3 the other morning. Pops sees 7.5-7.8 I think at his altitude and heat.

 

Could it be a collapsing fuel line?

 

Possibly.. I ran into that issue on the second tank drop. Hoping it's just a damn relay this time

 

I saw 10.8 psi on the way home after headers/pulley. I had to hear the headers despite leaning out

 

I think boost pressure is actually not a great way to differentiate airflow with pulleys. There is too many variables between intake and exhaust setups, elevation and temperature. It’s easiest to just figure it out mathematically. An 80mm pulley on a 2650 is 5,133cc/1 engine revolution. A 3.5” pulley on a 2900 is 5,054cc/1 engine revolution. A 75mm pulley on a 2650 is 5,479cc/1 engine rev. That’s a crapload more intake air.

 

I’m curious to know the difference in form’s from the years. If he goes back one pulley size they’re saying it’ll fix the situation. To me that’s a band aid fix avoiding the real problem?

 

Chris mentioned in his email that anything beyond the base pulley (85mm), they recommend relaying the pump. I went straight to the 80mm from the beginning and was never told about the pump module issue. Id say ive been on a band aid.

 

Dang, yall are scaring me. Part of the appeal of this truck is the rock solid reliability.

If I were to:

• Harrop Engineering TVS2650 supercharger system
• OEM Lexus RC F 84mm throttle body
• Prospeed Autosports 4.50" air-intake system
• ZPE GripTec 80mm supercharger pulley
• DeatschWerks 650cc/min fuel injectors
• Harrop Engineering high-flow fuel pump
• NGK LFR6AIX-11 spark plugs
• Genuine OEM Toyota coolant
• Custom Calibration via HP Tuners or VF Tuner
• Long tube headers

How much of a reliability hit would I take? I'm not talking about longevity. Just talking about tweaking/fixing/constantly monitoring and watching for issues?

So far the ones I know of from reading in here are:

Catalytic converters blown
Fuel pump not providing enough fuel

 

Edit: I was wrong and you should be good to go. Catalytic converters are something to watch out for!

 

Depends who you ask and if your truck wants to play ball. My truck has been extremely reliable

@ZPhilip was the datalog where it was running out of injector, and I believe he has the 85mm pulley? I can't find where he says what size pulley he had, but on stock injectors he was maxing out duty cycle by 4800rpm.

I don’t do WOT in real life

maf was maxed. 650 Injectors at 90%

 

I’d avoid the prospeed intake and do the maggy box.

 

Maybe controversial opinion but I'd avoid anything prospeed

 

At this point my opinion would be to buy a 10 spd F150 and put a Whipple on it and call it a day

 

LOL agreed. Even though their billet motor mounts looks sick. Unless you wanna make one that I’ll buy lol

 

Just tell me when, but considering there's lots of motor mount options out there that seems like a waste of time I prefer to make parts other people won't make

This is incorrect, you must be thinking of the stock injectors (the Harrop kit doesn’t include injectors). The included pump is plenty up to the task even with the 80mm. Prospeed will tell you otherwise though and sell you a lot of BS you don’t need.
