I did. It was night and day difference when I picked my truck up and I started noticing it again after around 500 miles.

pull the neg battery terminal for a bit then go give it a few aggressive runs, stay out of eco

ive read a few folks have success with that

I don't have the first 7 steps because I don't have a tundra yet, but I definitely get step 8 all the time...

Are you logging gear and estimated torque signals too? What do those do?

Can you elaborate on this, please?

I’ve noticed that the drive modes also affect the radar cruise control aggression, for lack of better word. Eco seems to accelerate back to the following distance less aggressively than Normal, which is less aggressive than Sport.

Haven’t notices an improvement in fuel mileage in Normal vs Eco. Would like to hear more about that, please.

I don't have a good setup, my TIS is installed on a junk laptop the screen it too small and the machine is very slow its a struggle to setup detailed logging. I'd certainly put more effort into it if it was easily replicable and I was certain to get the data in front of an engineer that could do something with the data to fix the issue.

Coming from the 3rd gen tacoma, that has dead pedal everywhere all the time the tundra's is way better. Its simply a rare occurrence only at very low speeds from what I've done in a very short time of ownership. I've had zero issues with the throttle map in any other conditions.

This is one where I'd think it be ok to call the go toyota number and at least try to get on their radar for hopefully a future refinement. With the 3rd gen tacoma, they did a Voice Of Customer (VoC) bulletin where they gave dealers specific things to log in TIS and send in to toyota, somewhere in the 2018/19 MY.

I bought a brand new Taco, drove it 4 months, then got rid of it because of the powertrain deficiency. Agreed, the worst of any vehicle I've owned as well. I have no idea how the Taco community can circle-jerk around and ignore this massive issue. The truck is already slow as a dog, piling on big tires, suspension, and armor is ridiculous.

Just got the TSB done on my early 2022 Platinum 3 days ago.
Confirming that lag/surge is gone, and it now behaves like a "pretty much" normal turbo drivetrain should.
Interestingly enough, I think the truck was shifting better in the upper gear range (say 40-80MPH range) before the TSB. It's not bad now, but I think it held gears longer before; now it seems to shift quicker and just "different."
Still, from a dead stop, or stop and quick acceleration, it feels very noticeably different, and I now don't have to "pre-load" my take offs, anticipating when to hit the gas to make this thing go.
I used to drive in "Custom/power" mode pretty much all the time prior to the update-now leave it in "Normal" and it's fine.
    Good update on Toyota's part.

    FloridaMan/etc:
Ironically they gave me a 2023 Tacoma Off-Road as a loaner. Drove it for a day.
............what a **** dog that truck is!
That 4cyl with that transmission couldn't get out of its own way. Suspension (front especially) i so "soft" that the brake bias makes this thing rock/dip forward even with normal/moderate braking. It was getting on my nerves so much.
Doors closed with a sound that made me remember my 1996 Ford Ranger.
Average Toytota interior is average, at best.

    I had a 2010 Tacoma (v6) with headers+exhaust and I loved that thing.
The way this new one felt, man, I'd sell it too!

Hopefully they'll have it for my mid 22 Truck. Last I checked, my truck wasn't included. But it indeed has those issues.

I didn't even check if my VIN was included in any "applicable" list.
I printed a list of things for them to check/address, with corresponding TSBs next to each line, and handed them the paper saying "here, I make things easy for you guys."

I had the TSB performed about 800 miles ago. I noticed a great improvement as the throttle dead spot from a slow rolling stop is gone. Sooooo much better now.

Unfortunately, my '23 Platinum was already up to date and the dealer said they couldn't flash it. Mine has the random delay issue.

    Same same.

An aftermarket throttle control module will eliminate this "dwell/delay" that this TSB is supposedly fixing for some.

Sounds like your dealer is better to work with. Mine say they hook it up to their computer and only TSB's applicable to my truck with pop up. Throttle delay is not one for mine. It's a mixture of throttle delay but feels like it's trying to take back off in 2nd or 3rd. Like the trans is slipping.

I do not. But I do have Tech Stream. Would be willing to pay for the short term license if it would allow me to get the proper files.

Here's a recent Tundra review video from a guy who works at Toyota dealership. At 10:15 minutes describes exactly the throttle delay issue that we're all experiencing and no fix.

    https://youtu.be/snradH8AoJA

Sad... The crappy throttle feel and this issue (even though very light for me half second to second delay at most) really makes driving this truck not pleasant...

I wound up having a longer discussion with Rodney in the comments. I feel he may not have had all the TSB updates done due to him confusing them with the radio updates, but I was never able to confirm that was the case.

I still think there is an edge condition not addressed by the update, hopefully keeping the issue noisy will lead to some further refinements.

Hopefully if he's able to continue to replicate he can have his service dept open a TAS case.

So far I've had this list of possible parameters.

    - Within 5 minutes of start of a drive cycle
    - Must have gotten into at least 2nd gear
***I've found though logging that the trans seems to shift into 2nd gear almost instantly, and will stay in 2nd or 3rd when slowing down, it will not go back into 1st gear until you make a complete stop.
    - Speed must be between 1-6 mph.
    - Speed/distance the pedal is pressed. A slow deliberate press seems to yield a 1 second delay while a more quick deeper press will result in a 3 second delay.

Every time I want to try to do it though, it will behave perfectly, its like 1 in every 10 drive cycles I may notice it.

For me the problem is most annoying at a busy 4 way stop, I want to move right away and there's a delay confusing drivers. I'm very careful in pull out situations as to not get taken off guard.

It seems like once its triggered it doesn't repeat for me.

I'd say the truck would be perfect for me If this issue was improved. I can live with the glitchy gas gauge.

I think we have about a year window as to Toyota releasing updated calibrations, after that they tend to declare it fixed, and only release calibrations for newer models.

I suspect that the ECU/TCU uses a torque demand system that Toyota's been using for a long time. The pedal input corresponds to a requested amount of torque then the ECU/TCU figures how to meet that using a requested gear, throttle, boost target, and, or ignition advance to meet the torque based on the current state of the vehicle (Speed, RPM, gear throttle limits, etc.)

What I can't say if its a logic issue (like a software routine bug) or just a problem with the map data where the values are not correct.

I’ve test driven 2 different 2023 gas Tundras over the last week…and felt zero delay or surge. I tried to recreate it over 20 min test drives each…and nothing.
Good response. I don’t try and floor it from a dead stop though.
Throttle/acceleration response was very similar to my 2015 3 series turbo.

Still plan on taking delivery of my 2023 when it arrives…hopefully soon.

So what? Only 22 has crappy throttle response? And 23 has been fixed?

Could this issue be parts related and not just software update? If it was software update, I would imagine Toyota would get 22's fixed as well?

the throttle lag i get is only in comfort or normal mode. it pretty much disappears when in sport/sport +. i can mitigate it in comfort/normal if i ease into the throttle.

i have an appt. on the 21st to address the following.

    1. transmission clunks into gear at times
    2. engine make loud noise on startup or acceleration (i think i narrowed this down to the fans ramping up then settling down to normal speed. i have a video during a very cold morning but it never returned except randomly)
    3. head unit randomly goes goes quiet during a song during spotify for 1 sec
    4. seat fans are loud
    5. driver and passenger seat clicks if you press in the back rest
    6. engine lags from a stop
    7. rear suspension bottoms out or is very harsh over bumps

    production date is 8-dec-2022

I test drove '23's a couple of months ago. One was find and the other had the delay. It's was shockingly bad. My 2023 has no delay and very good throttle response. It's NOT isolated to 2022's.

I always turn off start/stop, drive in normal, and only notice the lag from a "rolling stop". If I'm in a left turn lane in order to go into a shopping center, I'll slow to nearly a stop, maybe to wait for a car to pass, then when I accelerate to the lanes there is always a delay. It's something I can recreate 10 out of 10 times in Normal drive mode. My solution has been to take it into consideration / make sure there's plenty of time to cross. If I come to a complete stop, there's no lag. In Sport mode I have noticed the lag, but I cannot recreate it as consistently as in Normal. Haven't bothered with Eco.
This is in a gas SR5/TRD Sport with a 2/2023 production date.

I'll try disabling auto stop/start for a bit to see if that does anything.

The start and stop is sometime quirky mostly when parking. Sometimes Its shutting off and restarting as I'm shifting into park.

There is some correlation that this could be correct as there are a few youtubers that said they never had the lag but they disable their auto stop/start every time they drive too.

I've actually experienced something similar in my truck, there was a ticket open for it and an updated calibration already released. I havent been to the dealer yet for service, so not sure how much of an improvement it makes.

Sorry I ran out for an errand and disabled auto/stop start but had the bad lag pulling out of my driveway so at least for me that wasn't a positive result.
