I think they should at least give a mud tire whine noise too So you could have mud tires and a V8 At the flip of a switch

Correct. JBL isn't an option on any SR5, so no fake engine noise. Yes, a Limited without the JBL system would not have the fake engine noise. The fake engine noise is specific only to Tundras that have the upgraded JBL system.

Also note that JBL DC Limited does not have the SES (fake engine noise). Although, not truly fake as the sound is picked up from within the motor, then manipulated and pumped out the JBL system.

So it’s not a created noise that mimics an engine. Its the actual sound coming from your motor and amplified by the JBL audio even when the audio is turned off ? Or just acoustically piped in to the speakers directly from the motor…? Electronic or mechanical..? Very curious

Fair enough, not truly fake, just “enhanced”. And good point about the JBL equipped DC’s. I forgot they do not have the SES.

I never bought in to the "V8" sound other have called it because when I cut mine off it sounded near as before only alot softer. The sound is there at the same sound level when on no matter where the volume level is set on the radio if that's what you are asking.

What an annoying feature, maybe a software update someday will allow users to enable or disable it.

were you able to disable the engine sound via the carista?
I contacted them and they only have partial support for the 2022+ tundra.
hoping to disable the belt chime and fake noise on my 2023 pro. any idea if there will be an option for tire size? i know they come with different tires so it must be possible to some degree....
    either way thanks in advance.

Yes, it's just a click on the custom tab to turn it off. However, it doesn't make the truck silent. I think it sounds like what it should sound like with it off. A little whistle but not much.

I think the fake sound is actually pretty cool, it would be nice to give us control of the sound though for a long road trip when you want it quieter.

I don’t mind the fake noise. IMHO it’s surprising to see so many strong emotions coming out on the forum about it lol.

This is a feature toyota should have had some fun with....

They could have made the interior sound like a whole host of Toyota engines.

I totally agree! I wouldn’t mind it a little more loud, and/or the addition of some back pressure popping during downshifting. What a cheap way if modifying your exhaust!

I chose to leave the engine noise as it does not bother me. It was an option to delete it and I tried it out but decided to turn the engine noise back on. There was no option for tire size that I recall but I have stock size tires and don't plan on changing from that size in the near future. The seatbelt chime was easy to get ride of an I don't miss it one bit. I also used the device to disable the chime in my wife's Rav4.

I think a option for "noise on" in sport mode only would be a cool option. Easy to turn off and on when wanted. I do agree that it is a enhancement of the actual engine. Not a V8 sound.

any idea if the carista obd2 software supports tire/wheel diameter for a larger tire size? Ive heard they are able to do it from the dealer but, are reluctant for whatever reason (odo manipulation through downsizing diameter maybe?).
I feel like an accurate speedo/odo reading is safer and gives a more accurate depiction of mileage .

Has anyone looked into changing the fake Lexus V8 engine sound file? I'm thinking Lexus LFA V10 sound!

If you do the research, the 'fake' sound is not a sound file but an actual microphone like diaphragm in the motor and the augmented sound is then enhanced and played over the JBL sound system.

Wait until you tow something heavy. Fake Engine sounds will make you want to blow your brains out it is so irritating.

On the 2025 limited without the JBL system it will have the fake engine noise noise. Trouble is it can not be shutoff because it doesn’t have the JBL system

Nope. No JBL, no fake ESE, hence nothing to switch off.

Easy way to tell...Fire up the truck with your door closed. Open the door and you can clearly hear the fake noise turn off....close the door and you clearly hear it come back. No change in noise, no fakeness in your configuration

Dealer turned it off at no charge. Will not have it turned back on either. I like the quiet ride. Use to clothespin playing cards to my bicycle spokes too, grew out of that also. Strange, pretend just ain't tha same as real.

What? In 2025 people don't realize manufacturers have been piping in engine noise for years lol...

Jesus people, Ford even did it in my old 2017 Mustang 5.0 GT Performance/convertible model.

I also don't get why 2nd gen Tundra owners are always talking about the 5.7 liter V8 sound. We owned a 2010 iForce Sequoia Platinum for 8 years and I don't remember even hearing that engine, wasn't that special what so ever, kind the usual Toyota bland conformity of the 90's-2010's. I think some of you need experiences on more cars. Sorry man, you want a good sounding engine in their time periods you should listen to a 2.0 liter DOCH VTEC in a Honda S2000 doing 140mphh revving 9000RPM on a race track with the top off. You actually *hear* that.
