Perhaps that could be the problem, the radar has a limited window to focus through. The newer grill has the TSS just behind the plastic (very expensive plastic) piece and has a full window of view to look through. Those older grills have a large gap between the front surface of the TSS to the grill itself then the geometry of plastic grill presents a challenge for the radar to pass through unobstructed.

Jomax is trying to prevent the incident of paying for legal representation and wants out of any liability. I cannot say I blame him but labeling your product as “off road use only, not intended for street vehicles” would cover your ass but that is just my opinion

You mean AJT? Jomax quit making them a couple of years ago. Finding one is pure gold. I got lucky as hell when I found one a few months ago.

I understand they stopped making them in 2020 and no to AJT, I am talking about Jomax sensor kit.

What is the gap between the front face of the TSS sensor when mounted to the Jomax plate to the first plastic close to it directly in front? I do not have one in front of me but the pic you posted appears to be set in closer to the radiator?

The Jomax is very rare. The issue with the AJT is that the cover is too thick, and also the wrong material. I have made some thinner covers from ABS and have a couple of people trying them out.

From the front of the cover plate to the back of the grill is about 3.5 inches. I still have an AJT but if I recall, they both sit just about in the same spot.

    This is just my opinion...

The OEM TSS mount is directly behind the cover shield and I am sure there is a small gap between them. The OEM opening in the mounting location is huge, almost reveals the entire sensor but mounted behind the grill for 3.5" of space trying to get a radar beam made to obviously have a wide beam to cover the entire front of the vehicle from side walk to next lane to focus through a small opening before it can spread. Again just my opinion but that just does not seem like a Apples to Apples comparison to the 2 scenarios. Just again in my opinion is not feasible

Any preliminary results worth mentioning? I prefer the older style pro grille much more so I really want to get this to work.

Either I'm tired or confused lol. The AJT and the Jomax both mount the sensor in pretty much the same spot on the radiator support if I recall. With the AJT, I started getting errors after about 15 miles following installation. With the Jomax, no errors at all. The Jomax used a specialized material for the cover, and AJT used thick ABS. Even shaving down the AJT doesn't work. What's funny is I believe the OEM emblem/TSS cover has "ABS" stamped on it but the front is a type of glass.

Makes sense. I can't believe how expensive those things are.

I bought one but was able to use it for the company taxes since the vehicle was being used under the company at the time. Even with that I had a hard time

I have tried 3 different brackets, all had problems but the Jomax worked the best for me. Eventually I switched to the 2019+ TRD Pro grill in Sept 2019 and haven't had any more problems.
