bit of a mockup. Gonna use real plywood for the bed & shelf.

i think i'll be fine with a 24" wide bed platform. Gonna lose the clamps and bolt the cap on direct. Right side wall might become more floor, trimmed to fit around the wheelwell.

    IMG_3329.jpg

thinking about lining the inside of the cap with double bubble spaceship insulation.

Just got an email from Skid Row. 4th of July sale is 10% off plus free shipping on orders over $200

Get them skid plates if you wanna play on the rocks people. Don't make the same mistake I did my first time off road. Technical off roading without skid plates is taking a major gamble

They're not square & have been over tightened, so they clamp a little crooked.

Ok, just landed a bit ago and got home and ate; wife and kids asleep so finally had a chance to look at my “new” tools again.

I think I’ll post some here and there. Some of these I vaguely recognize but I wonder if they have specific uses. “5” I’m not sure what it does or if those two parts go together? They’re threaded the same. Tape measure for reference. Any guesses?

#1 is a gear puller. You can use this for ball joints and tie rods and other things that are press fit. Sprockets, bearings, flanges etc.
    #3 is a spark tester
    #4 is a nut splitter.
#5 looks like it might be missing a few pieces? You could use it to drive things in a hole.

#2 maybe valve spring or rocker arm tool?
#5 looks like a steering wheel or crank pulley puller, when used with long enough/correct thread pitch bolts.

Ohhh that would be particularly rad, and that makes the two slotted wings/arms make sense. Need one of those to pull the steering wheel on the 73 C10 since I don’t have keys for it. Need new ignition cylinder.

I have an oil leak above the a/c compressor. Not enough to drop oil on the floor. It just leaks above the oil pan and paint the back of the steering rack. Anyone have a clue what I’m looking at. 185k miles

Update: after doing some googles it looks like an oil filter adapter seal leak. Looks like a simple figure 8 o-ring

This will be my second $1.50 o-ring fix on this truck.

    Part number below
Engine Oil Filter Adapter Seal - Toyota (15692-50020)

Has anyone found a proper study about carbon monoxide in a capped pickup bed? I know cowboy duals are supposed to be better than pipes that point straight back, but i'd like to see some numbers also comparing a single stock pipe that points out to the side. My google-fu seems to be struggling today.

I’d buy a portable CO alarm and just put it back there if I were concerned.

Found this in the road today. It's a cheap drill and I don't have a charger for it but I couldn't pass it by.

So like sleeping in the bed with the engine idling? Or dog while driving? Or something else?

But how do you get into the bed without opening the window and tailgate or a windoor? Climb in through the rear slider? Or open and close super quick?

these beds are not well insulated. Even with a linex I shivered one night sleeping in the bed. Would need a lot of sealing to have it not freely exchange air with the outside.
