Took off the front cover to double check the timing belt position. Turned the crank over many times matching the timing marks over and over on it's correct position. There's nothing wrong with the belt

Do the 5vz's suffer from the crank position sensor wire being too close to spinny bits?

Its always hard to get great perspective from pics, but did you align the cams the same way the belt was installed when you bought it? In the pics you took a few weeks ago, it definitely looks like the cams are off a tooth on each bank. How did the truck run when you initially bought it?

The truck seemed to run okay. I just purchased the truck and only drove it once on the way home so I don't really know. I rolled the cams back one cog and installed the belt. The belt has indications of where it must land so it's a no-brainer. I just double checked and everything seems fine. I'm thinking it's a crank sensor or something electronic I'm not going to go around circles on the timing belt it is in the only way it can go on unless they printed the indications and made the notches incorrect on my block

Belt only goes on one way. The marks on the belt are all in position. If this is installed incorrectly I don't know my first name.

As long as the cam pulleys and crank align properly, you're good to go. They weren't in those first pics. If you're satisfied you have it right, we can move on and hopefully help you figure this out.

I dont like that the left pulley is marked 'R' and the right pulley is marked 'L'. Its probably correct if it's never been messed with before. Just makes me cringe, & i'd have chased that rabbithole for at least a day.

I had the crank sensor out and on my work table. It magnetized itself to my wrench just as I grabbed to use it and caused the crank sensor to fly and hit the concrete. It put a small dent in it. I don't know if that may be affecting anything but tomorrow I plan to make a trip to the junk yard and get another crank sensor, ignitor and maybe cam sensor. I'm at my wits end

I've been following this thread and really enjoy all the progress you've made with this truck. Keep the faith, and take a break from it from it when you get frustrated, that's what I do. Lots of great people here to figure out the problems you have.

If I were you and was totally convinced I had the timing right, I would remove all the junkyard parts you bought with the ones that were on the truck originally, then trace down codes from there. Seems you started going backwards at some point replacing parts. Also, it might be relevant to check out the engine basics first as you said you only drove it briefly. Compression, leak down test etc. Good luck.

That could do it. It's a hall effect sensor, which has a magnet inside. If that cracked it may no longer work correctly.

Bad part about ordering parts on scAmazon: Always gotta worry about getting counterfeits.
Good part about ordering parts on scAmazon: They have a liberal return policy, and you can absolutely return something like that to get a new one.

I doubt that's going to make a difference unless it's breached. It's just a simple Hall Effect sensor.

Last night I unplugged all the connections to the fuel, spark and sensors. Today was a hot dry day so if there was any moisture in the plugs they could have dried out. I also left the battery unplugged over night.
    IMG_20230628_172014.jpg

Picked these parts at the yard.
Crank sensor, cam sensor, ignitor ICM and a newish pcv valve hose.
Going to install the pcv valve hose and try the crank sensor first.

Installed the crank sensor, no change...
    IMG_20230628_201322_BURST001_COVER.jpg

Then drilled the screws out, cleaned the bracket and
    IMG_20230628_201109.jpg
installed the replacement ICM, no change....
    IMG_20230628_201118.jpg

Decided to look at the brand new spark plugs...
Looks like there's unburnt fuel on this....
    IMG_20230628_193402.jpg

I put an extra spark plug on cyl #6 (which reported misfire) and started the truck. Not once did the spark plug fire.

I can't urge you enough to check all your grounds. But I don't know what all grounds are in the engine bay for the V6 models and if it's ballpark the same as others.
