I’m still very much liking my MRR rear shocks. They do a great job handling the constant load in the bed while maintaining a great street ride. A few clicks and they handle my trailer like a champ.

I was working out of town last week but look what showed up!

Decided to go with sleek silver instead of tenacious teal coils. Guess we’ll see how they look and ride.

And as an added bonus… STICKERS!!!

And in the mail a few days later… MORE STICKERS!!!

And a personal note from the man - the myth - the legend @crikeymike !!

NOW I HAVE MKRE HORSPER STICKERS!!! IM SO EXCITED!!! AS IF YOU COULDNT TELL MY MY USAGE OF THR CAPS LOCK BUTTON!!

    STICKERS!!!!

    MORE STICKERS!!!!

    STICKERS EVERYWHERE!!!

    SO MANY AWESOME STICKERS!!!!

    I CAN STICK THEM EVERYWHERE!!!

SLICKER THAN GOOSE SNOT - STICKERS!!!!

Ok, seriously, though, @crikeymike I got a good laugh outta that. And thanks for the stickers. Can’t wait to get a minute and install the front coilovers. They look slick.

Yeah, stock shocks aren't long enough for lifted springs.

Welp. I went to assemble the front coilovers this weekend.. and ended up destructing my spring compressor. So I borrowed a different type from a friend and it interferes with fitting the coil over the shock body. Doh. So I ordered a different type of spring compressor while I debate building a cage and some adapters for my shop press to make it work. Unfortunately, the first spring compressor self destructing marred up my coils a bit, but oh well, I guess.

I suppose that will give me time to get the shock mounts powder coated. Or find some different mounts for the front..

    Hey bud.

The IMS kit for sure. I suggest keeping it low, like 2" front and 1" rear, as that will help with ride comfort compared to going up higher and it will also really stabilize the vehicle with those new struts and shocks.

@crikeymike RE: Stock height 2nd Gen sequoia IMS kit found here:

    https://exitoffroad.com/product/dobinsons-stock-height-sequoia-ims-suspension-kit-for-2008-2022/

I can’t find this kit on DobinsonDirect. I stumbled upon a local 4x4 shop this week run by some Toyota gear heads that are huge fans of Dobinson suspensions. I asked them about the IMS kit while they were ogling my MRR kit; they haven’t installed an MRR kit yet - just IMS and Twin Tube kits for folks but spoke very highly for the IMS. I mused over swapping out my sequoia suspension for the Dobinson IMS kit and they were unable to find a stock height suspension in IMS. After calling whatever contacts they have at Dobinson, they were told the IMS Sequoia kit is only available for 1.75” and up lifts. Would you be able to clarify this?

BTW, I’m itching to install the MRR fronts on my tundra. The local 4x4 shop helped me get the springs set up after I broke my spring compressor, so hopefully I’ll get it done soon. But, second question - are the remote reservoir mounts for the rear MRR kits available to purchase separately? The brackets supplied with front MRR’s are a bit chunky; they are currently at the powder coater getting prettified.

It's not made up, it's real. Their website just isn't nearly as detailed as mine, and I guess the people working there don't have the knowledge.

    @crikeymike
Just installed my front IMS C59-834 2" coils/MIS 59-60446 struts on my 2023 Tundra. Just verifying that the coil seat should be set at 175mm/6.87in from the middle of the strut bushing eye as noted on a website...either your site or dobinsonsdirect site...can't quite remember where I saw that. So this should give me roughly a 2in lift? However, even after driving it and letting is settle it's over 2.5in currently. Let's say I'd like to lower the front a bit more...say 1/2in. So for every 1/4in the coil seat is lowered, it would lower the truck by a 1/2in? Thanks.

Yes, that's the specs Dobinsons gave us, that should be the same as the OEM coil seat (you can check your stock struts for comparison). Just make sure that measurement is to where the coil will sit, on top of the coil seat, not underneath it.

Yes, 2" once settled with stock weight. How many miles have you put on it?

You shouldn't go lower than the standard coil seat height, as Toyota's usually have tight sway bar clearances and the link/mount can hit the coilover if you go lower than stock. I don't remember on the new Tundras if that's a clearance issue or not. Yes, coil seat height gives a 1:2 ratio (1/4" adjustment changes 1/2" of lift for example).

So finally put some miles on the MRR’s and wow! They ride fantastic right out of the box, they really soak up the bumps with absolutely no harshness, it feels really planted, 1000x’s better than my old set up.

thanks @crikeymike. I remeasured how high the coil seat sits and somehow I'm a bit higher than the spec. So likely that's my issue. I assume I'll have to pull the struts back out and take off the spring to change the coil seat height - major PITA but it was my fault in the first place. I suppose you cannot adjust the coil seat when it is installed...to much force on the coil seat ring?

On a 2022+ Tundra with threaded-body IMS struts, you can adjust it down without removing it all. You just have to take as much pressure off the coil seat as possible. You're supposed to put the coil in a compressor to take that weight off the seat before lowering it.

So… are you supposed to take them off or no? And does this apply to the 07-21 front MRR as well? A local shop told me I would have to remove them to adjust them. My Eibach’s were adjustable on the vehicle, but I through some strut clamps on the coils while it was sitting on the tires, then lifted the front of the vehicle to adjust the coil seat.

This explains it all, for any adjustable Dobinsons front strut with threaded rings.
