No spoofing, it is a configurable setting. You could use Tech Stream if you wanted... Those of us that live in AZ or "desert climate" probably benefit the most.

    I can’t imagine a setting adjustable by dealers is a risk. This isn’t a JB4 tuner .

they would not have a configurable setting that would negatively impact things like that, it will be fine.

I turned off my seat belt beeping too, thats probably a bigger risk in this day and age, LOL.

I carpool with 3 guys that are hot natured. I changed only the temp calibration to -2 about a month ago and can leave my truck on auto and 68-70 before it was 65 in the the morning and no auto in the evening on the way home it was full blast max fan on face. It overall functions better in my opinion.

I still don't understand the temp setting other than people are happy about which is good. It can't be doing much else than changing the reference setting.
I agree with you on the ding, DING<DING<DING. I was hooking up a trailer this AM and it's a little much. I'll turn that off.

i was kinda wondering that also. i mean i can change my house thermostat differential by 1-2 degrees but that only changes when it kicks the ac on. has no effect of creating colder air, just changes when it comes on

ie: oem settings 72 and display is 72

-2 setting and setting is 70 and display is 72

is that how i am reading this?

    How I understand it:

The setting is to calibrate the thermostat behind the dial number. It may read 72 but for whatever reason the thermostat is off and needs to be calibrated to match reality.

For my case, it are makes the AC blow colder air to meet the dial number. I don’t really care if it’s 72, I just wanted more cold air at 72.

This does make the eye twitch but I’m just glad the setting exists ;-)

so in nutshell, this is just a differential setting in the computer. the dial shows 72 but the computer reads it as 70 (-2). so when you ask for 72F cold air you are actually getting 70F cold air.

Havent really seen a difference yet. Temp today was 73 and the output would not go below 48 degrees and took alittle to get there.
Why is Carista in metric units??

Do you think toyota is limiting how cold the output is to limit the odor building up?
Wife's 2017 rav 4 gets smelly because it always defaults to rec so she's in the habit of putting it I to fresh and this helps alot.

I do notice in AUTO it will breafly get alot colder the almost like the compressor shuts down and the output jumps up several degrees.

Not bragging but maybe providing a frame of reference.

This was the temp today (one of the hottest cities in USA) when I arrived to get in a 1/2 hour drive thru wait.

Before leaving, temp was hotter. Engine coolant temp was same as when cruising and the A/C was very cold (we had to lower it to the 3rd lowest vent setting).

I'd like to see some vent temp outputs to compare too.

So I thought this as well. However I drive a ton and I’m 2 hours round trip for 21 years now I’m very observant. This being my 4th tundra I got used to the auto function. Even at lower temp settings the 2022 didn’t seem to function as well as I’m accustomed. Since adjusting the temp calibration about a month ago I’ve not been out of auto and leaving temp between 68-70 before it was all over the place so I was just using manual control.

We do in the rav4. Just have to take it out of rec before she turns off the engine helps alot with the odor.

Weird that Toyota wouldn’t see A/C performance as an important customer feature to have optimized it and tested it and got feedback. Our older Toyota cranks up to max with a hot cabin to get to the set point, but my 23 doesn’t even seem to be on in auto. Wife’s new Venza is the same. I did notice in the Manual (I was bored) that engine/trans ECO mode also “controls the operation of the air conditioning system”. A little ridiculous that they can’t be selected independently, and on a truck that A/C load difference would be measurable. I also find that if you try to angle the vents too much towards you they become closed, hence no separate flow knob I presume. I will try the Carista adjustment but it seems like would be the same as turning the set point down 3-4F per the previous discussion.

I agree with above. Your not changing the rpm of the compressor, you may be choosing a higher fan speed with the carista mod.

Seems like your speeding $$ to do what you can do with your finger - lower the temp setting and increasing your fan speed.

Sure, you could use a lower setting, but I live in TX (you might understand) and I was already setting it to the mid 60s to act as expected. Offsetting by 2 degrees C and now having 70 feel normal is worth $20.

A $75,000 truck shouldn’t need fiddling with but here we are.

I agree I had no concerns with my previous 3 tundras they worked as expected. Also my with had the new sienna we bought it the first mont they came out worked as expected. Now she has a new highlander and so far 1,500 miles it’s as expected. The tundra is the first new Toyota out of the 11 we’ve had I’ve taken back to dealer for concerns. Wind noise is my biggest with not only me but also my 3 carpoolers notice it too. Look at my previous post I don’t think the ac functions better after changing the calibration it’s worth the price of the Carista. It also works on other vehicles.

I didnt know you could see the satellite view either. All you do is go to google maps through your airplay and touch the little gear icon in the top right of the screen and you will get an option to show satellite view.

LOL...A Carista is $38.00. Spent that on beer at the golf course today. Get out and live a little. SO funny, $100 a tank of fuel and " holy shit $38....i need vent readings"

I don’t think so right? The calibration shouldn’t alter the duty cycle of the compressor in any significant way to where it’s running out of spec and I believe Lo temp is still gonna be 59F regardless of the calibration.
