Interesting. Did I buy this because it's functional (which I did) or did I buy it to advertise? "If you 'don't want to advertise' for companies, why buy it in the first place." implies that I should only buy things to advertise.

I have no aversion to supporting a quality vendor (note I did buy it) but I'm also under no obligation to plaster there name all over everything. I also reserve the right to customize should I see fit.....seems to me that a large chunk of this forum is customization.

Certainly you’re perogative but I guess I don’t get 5 pages of complaining about “plastering their logo all over” when it’s one logo and as mentioned previously can be functional as is. Next time look at the tundra and see how many Toyota logos are all over it. You should never buy things to advertise, but advertising as a byproduct for something that you bought, are happy with and serves a great purpose is something altogether different in my opinion. A company that doesn’t put its logo on something likely won’t be in business very long.

Yeah....I get what you're saying.....there's a default level of advertisement for literally everything you buy. I've removed as many of the placards from my Tundra as possible. Those who know...know...those who don't wouldn't care if it said Toyota Tundra anyhow.

I do think there's a healthy design balance with having the logo but it not being overbearing. Rago missed the mark with this one in my opinion. The R (which is what I thought I was getting) was acceptable to me. In my haste, I missed the fine print which said "what you receive may not be what you saw on the site" or something like that.

To be completely transparent, I'm the sort of person that would read "Rago" every 10 seconds while driving the truck. That's not Rago's problem but my own curse to deal with.

that we can all agree with; I remember when I got my sidesteps - the logo was ugly as sin. I put grip tape over it just because it was THAT ugly (but full disclosure I have recommended the steps because they are that well made in my opinion). There’s a balance for sure

I agree with you on this. I actually was searching for the previous version with just the R logo. I'm not wild about having their logo/last name plastered on their dash.

For the record, I don't buy stuff that has large brand names on them, I de-badge my trucks, heck I've even added custom skins to my MacBook covering the logo.

I'm curious why they changed it.

In all honesty, I have gotten used to the new design and it doesn't bother me at all.

It is the 4.3 inch screen. I had started with the 7 inch, but returned it for this one because it took up so much dash space, and the image quality of the camera isn't so good that you can see more on a 7" than 4 inch - if that makes sense...

The USB just drops into the hole and has nuts and bolts that holds it in. You could put something else in depending on the hole diameter and the depth of the new USB that you are installing.

For anyone thinking about mounting options, I spent a lot of money on RAM brand ball mounts, extension arms and phone holders. I finally got fed up with the arms slipping and falling and moving around……I bit the bullet and got the tackform ball mounts and extension arms. They are 100000000000% better - better made, better quality and better holding power with less vibration. Absolutely NO movement at all. I will likely be unloading the ram accessories and stuck with tackform

I’m having that problem with mine. Do you have a link to those track forms? Added a support but we shall see

Just more stable compared to the ram mounts. It certainly isn’t no vibration but way better than the ram. The longer the arms the more vibration and inherently the dash mount is the issue with the thin plastic. My point was that the ram mount ticked me off - especially in summer when heat seems to deform the rubber parts.

I can confirm that with the ram ball. I’m hoping the steel one from track may help over the aluminum ones I run. They hold for awhile then wear and dust. But maybe the upright will help.

I have ICS ball mounts and their 3.5 inch arms. The aluminum is nice. I just recently moved my radar detector to the plate due to the crappy suction cup. I also have the monitor mounted for the trip tomorrow. I have the Tachform ball mounts on the devices. Most of the Tackform stuff is a little cheaper on Amazon. I use all 20mm.

Do you by chance have the diameter of the dual usb hole for the Rago? I've been searching for it but no luck, I'm interested in replacing it with one with a USB-C port and without that blue LED ring as well.

Awesome, thanks for getting that measurement. I'm trying to decide between the Expedition Essentials TDPAM for added stability, or just going with this updated Rago plate. Tough decisions...I'm thinking the TDPAM won't look terrible with a blacked out instrument trim panel.

It looks like those support brackets would interfere with getting to the radio controls.

Yeah solid point. Didn't look as noticeable from the video I first picked up on that mount from, they have an upgraded Alpine radio in the build which pushes the controls out a bunch.

I found that if you put moderate finger pressure on the front of Rago dash mount (even with ICS base plate) you get approximately a .033 deflection, however if you put a couple of screws in unused leading edge holes and contact dash it takes the flex away. 20241008_055442.jpg
