Ok ladies and gents truck has a 6" procomp lift Currently sitting on 37s had a diff failure about 2 yrs ago (running 35s at that time) A pin sheared off and chewed up
the ring and pinion. Well I hade a shop replace it and 2 yes later same thing. I have not been off road in a while and not even daily driving. So I'm thinking I either need a stronger pin or there is an angle or somthing out of line. This time I caught it before damaging the gears so hopefully will be a cheaper fix.

    Too many, but not enough....
How tall of blocks are you on in the back? Thinkin its a driveshaft angle/axle wrap problem maybe

    Angle misalignment of the driveshaft.

Is your transfer case dropped to maintain proper alignment?

The lift was installed by 4 wheel parts hopfully they did it right... i know the carrier bearing has spacers and they installed a block and added a leaf in the back I'll measure block tonight

The pin falling out happens, really unfortunate you have to deal with it twice. The carrier can be replaced with a limited slip or locker to get rid of the pin failure.

Had you said "I do a lot of off-roading" my answer would also to look at the carrier where the pin goes in...the holes might be wobbled out a bit from wheel spin.

I had a pin failure in my '07 at 150K. It had walked but not failed yet and was caught during a LSD install.

And they'll also come with 4 pinion gears reducing the load on the shaft. I've had them in everything and have one in the case for the 350.

    Inside an OS-GIKEN Super Lock.

Blocks are 3" in the back with an add a leaf. Center support bearing does have spacers but don't know about the T case. Any body know the stock drive shaft angle?

Wouldn't only the carrier bearing need to be dropped? The angle of drive shaft out of the T case would be corrected by the carrier bearing drop kit I would think

I’m not sure if it would correct enough with just the carrier bearing on a 6” lift. Although if it didn’t the failure probably wouldn’t be at the axle come to think of it.

Whilst I am certifiably mentally deficient I don't see how driveline angle is a factor in this failure.

Are you running that OS-GIKEN Super Lock on the Tundra? How does it run?? I was looking into upgrading my SC's rear diff with an OS-Giken unit two years ago, but I ended up moving invested that money elsewhere.

Doesn't do any good in the box. Is it the 10.5"?

Since the issue has occurred twice, I think you might have a manufacturing defect with one or possibly both pin holes being just slightly out of proper alignment and or location which is putting the gears in a bind and forcing the pin to reach its yield over time. Could also be that a sliver of the old disaster was left behind during rebuilding and eventually wound up in the gears in just the right orientation to add extreme shear stress to the pin or even a new chip occurred. Inspect closely and post up whatever you find for the next victim to reference.

No. It's in the Lexus IS-350.

Returning to OP's issue. Bad driveline angles make a noticeable vibration that IMO are unrelated to pin and spider gear failure. Are you using the electronic LSD often? Spinning a single tire in mud or snow while wheeling?

In my years of wrenching, normal driving does not typically wear the pin or shaft dramatically while peg leg burnouts definitely take their toll.

If the carrier assembly doesn't stop all pin movement, the load can shear the retainer pin pretty easily.
