Do it, the more scientific answers we have the better, since 99% of modifying things is assumptions.

To me it’s less about the power and more about reducing cylinder temps with cooler IATs for longevity’s sake.

i did it by not following instructions closely enough during the install. Just left it that way. Of course, no idea if it made any difference

Oh and I would recommend using a little compressed air to blow the metal coolant line out as some will get stuck in there and make a mess later. Some people cap them too but seems redundant to me, unless you’re doing a summer/winter switch over setup. The process is so fast though doesn’t seem worth the trouble (just do it manually twice a year).

Sounds awesome. Interested to hear if the stock size intake is a problem/restriction when dyno tuning. I’m sure it would be a little more power on at least the Maggie intake box.

(Sorry random question). I thought I saw a post where someone put the (3.85”) maggie intake onto the Rcf throttle body without any modifications. I just got mine in the mail and the intake rubber will not go on the rcf throttle body easily (as expected its .3” wider). I was thinking to put it in boiling water and work it over the rcf, but was curious if other people had attempted this same situation and had any advice. I could also see someone just cut the very end and use an adapter but won’t look as finished.

Well gents, it’s early yet but my initial impression after doing the TB coolant bypass is it does in fact do SOMETHING. My typical IAT before this mod once the truck was up to temp and cruising was about 37 degrees above ambient. After this mod and some initial testing with 15 minutes of driving and 5 minutes idling in between is that it has decreased that delta.

It was 79-81 out today depending on when I looked at the OA temp on the truck. On the initial drive before it got super hot I was seeing a 15-19 degree delta at 96-100 degree IAT. I then parked it in the garage and let it idle and got the IAT up to 120ish to try and heat soak it a bit. I then took it back down the road again cruising at 60 (in and out of the throttle due to hills) and it was pretty much hanging out at 105 while slightly on the throttle and cruising at 60ish. That’s a 25ish degree delta. The temp would drop cooler when on the gas vs coasting as it pulled more cool outside air in and across the HX and sensor. Some pics are included.

I’ll keep you all updated as I drive it more, but it appears right now it’s good for at least a 10 degree drop in IAT. I also pinned the transmission thermostat open to test that as well, and under my testing which included some aggressive acceleration the hottest I saw was 176ish at the pan at the end of the drive. I’ll be monitoring that as well.

Looks like 1 nipple, 2 caps and a zip tie. I might see another worm style hose clamp for good measure.

Yup, bought a 5/16” barbed fitting which i would probably have upsized to the next size if I did it again. Just removed the 2 hoses to the TB and secure them together. It was not leaking with the 2 regular clamps but decided to put a worm gear in the center for extra insurance. I got the caps to make it clean and keep junk out of the TB.

soo dropped of truck at the dyno, the gave my installer compliments how clean and how well mechanically the truck performs. another slight hiccup, didnt know D3 has their own software. my dyno tuner uses HP tuners. HP tuners cannot unlock D3 tuned ECU, well theres a way but lots of red tape involved..whatever. ordered D3 pro tuning software with their cable, so just waiting on that to arrive then finally we can get her tuned right.

If it’s as hard as getting the Harrop boot over the Maggie intake box, it’s gonna be a real bitch to be honest. I was able to handle the box lid roughly cause it’s just plastic. It’s gonna be hard to not damage the TB in the struggle. Your idea with boiling water might work.

How was Prospeeds shipping time for everyone? (On day 8 just “order placed”). Anxiously awaiting the good stuff from them haha. Got a full stage (fill in the blank) coming in the mail.

I bought injectors and intake from them, and the intake they didn't have in stock but didn't say anything so on week two of waiting I called them, and they said they were waiting on the intake and I asked if I could get the injectors since that's really what mattered to me and they said sure if I pay more for shipping which I did. And then apparently out of coincidence the intake then came into stock like two days later and they shipped that. Ultimately took 3+ weeks to get my stuff.
