When I was searching for a fix I ran across others with the same problem. They say the factory (maybe not all of them, I don't know) head units put out a dirty signal. The only way to know for sure is try it. You have a base HU or nav? Mine was a base HU, so maybe that makes a difference.

It's been months since I looked at it. Tundratalk is where I looked. Maybe the entune system will be better. If you do get it, you could always use an audison unit. They are pricy but I've heard they work better than most line converters. I don't know what to tell you, just have to try and see.

Thanks again Trucky, I checked out TundraTalk, didn't find anyone complaining about the FHU, I am beginning to think your noise issue is proprietary with only your personal Tundra's FHU .......but you're happy with what you have now.....a good thing

If I were you, I'd still try too. I like the factory look. What line converter do you plan to use? I used an lc7i. I loved my setup except for the low end white noise. Maybe I should have tried another converter, but after hours of reading and many more hours of trying to get it cleaned up, I just decided to go with an aftermarket. I hope you can get yours to work right.

Here is a guy on this forum with the same problem. Maybe you could talk with him.

Just a quick google search brought me this link with a guy with white noise.

I have a 2014 Tundra limited with the entune head unit. I had a local shop install all new JL C2 speakers, JL amp and LC7i. They assured me things would sound great using the stock head unit... I am super disappointed, I have the white noise just like others have discussed here. After reading reviews on other forums and product reviews on Amazon it sounds like this is a common problem with the Toyota entune system and there is no way around it. I even called audio control and they basically told me there was nothing I could do other than turn the gain all the way down on the LC7... This does get rid of the noise, but defeats the whole purpose of installing a new system, it sounds like crap with zero gain. Now I am forced to install a new head unit... Exactly what I set out NOT to do. My advice, plan on replacing your head unit or don't upgrade at all.

It's not just an entune problem... All of these head units, stock, produce a dirty signal. Not a popular statement.

yep bank account is running low from it..
Not only that the components inside the factory head units are sub par with the industry.

Curious if @MrTuRDPro has any "white noise" w/ his setup? I believe he kept the stock head unit.

Love JL Audio. This is similar to the route that I'll be going. Keep us posted. Looking forward to seeing the pics of this build.

Want any other changes made to it? (I'm extremely bored at work with nothing to do. lol) I'm not sure you will be able to achieve the proper air space you need with this configuration.

I did. I'll be doing something similar for the sub I want to add. Can't decide if I'm going to go w/ (1) JL 8" sub or (1) 10" sub. I'll more than likely go with (1) 8" sub.

haha. The box I provided a link to actually lists the subwoofer you picked out as one of the recommended subs. Just make separate panels on the sides for your amps and line converter.

It doesn't specify if that includes the space the speaker takes up or even how much CF the speaker displaces.

2015 Tundra here and I kept my HU, I have zero white noise. One possibility is your installer ran the speaker, amp etc wires all next to each other and did not separate them, this can generate noises.......or maybe I'm just fortunate

Have any of you tried just replacing the factory amp with a decent 4 channel amp and still used the factory speakers?

I really appreciate this write-up. My truck is brand new and I don't know exactly which direction I'm going with upgraded audio, but this helps a lot. Thank you!

Sorry to bump an old post, but I was wandering if the OP solved the over heating issue? I plan on putting my 4 channel under the seat where the factory is and my sub amp under the rear seat. Thanks for the write-up. This post is very helpful!

    Did you use this harness?
    https://autoharnesshouse.com/41112.html

Will it work for JBL equipped trucks?

    None...yet!
No, I used a Metra harness at the time and had to cut off One of the sides and reroute a couple of the pins. Wasn’t hard to do, but it did take some time.

This harness is custom built (wish they had it at the time) but won’t work for a JBL system. I’d contact autoharness house (inquiry@autoharnesshouse.com) and see what they have for JBL systems.

    Good luck man!
