No resolution on the rub. They just kind of shrugged their shoulders. I’ll just run the 1” spacers until I need new tires, at which point I’ll probably get different wheels with a less offset.

weird that we both had the same issue with razor like cuts. I wonder what cause it?

Hey y’all I looked at my truck again this AM. Went lock to lock and I’m not rubbing. For those with same wheels tires…etc…

Could it be an alignment issue? Caster has the wheel in the wrong spot?

I wondered about caster too and if it could impact this. I might take my truck to an alignment specialist shop and have them take a look.

On mine, was rubbing very bad on the sway bar. I put on 1" spacers and still had some rubbing even then. But after I got my CV problem fixed, it doesn't appear to be rubbing anymore (with the spacers). I'm thinking they did an alignment.

I swear mine didn't rub before I got my CV replaced... been trying to decide if it's in my head but was driving around a couple places yesterday and was getting some rub and a couple weeks ago wasn't.... I've been debating taking it to another shop as well, just to have someone else give it a once over and see if they notice anything that's off.

    Hey all,

New here and read through this whole thing after getting the TRD lift installed at the dealer when I picked up my new limited w/ off road package. I kept the stock TRD wheels and had them fit 285/65/20R KO2s. Tires are at an even 35 psi. After driving it home and backing out the garage the next day I noticed I had rubbing on the sway bar like some other people here. Pretty frustrating. These should fit according to Toyota spec. I’m wondering if there is a problem with the lift install, some shoddy alignment or a problem with the components. I’ve been looking all over the internet to see after dimensions others have with the TRD lift because mine seems extra tall. Floor to front fender is just under 42”, mid hub to front fender is 25.5”. Can others post their ride height with the TRD lift, especially if you kept the stock 20” TRD wheels?

I'll take some measurements tomorrow. I'm really starting to think its a bad alignment. When I picked it up after my CV shaft replacement the service advisor made a comment about it being difficult to measure on these new Tundra's based on what Toyota wants them to reference from which I thought was odd.... thinking the tech had some difficulty after getting everything put back together and they ran out of time before I was supposed to pick it up.

Anyone have clarification whether or not this fits the TRD sport? Hoping to order it soon, but just need confirmation.

Hey…can you all peek at your rear shocks and let me know how the top “nut” is orientated?

I’m getting a lot of noise on my driver side and noticed what you see in the images that one is cockeyed and one is not.

Measuring from floor to middle of the front fender on mine is 40.5" and mid hub (center cap I'm assuming) is 24.25". Not sure why there would be that big of a difference from mine to yours, unless I'm not measuring exactly the same.

Both of mine look like your none-cockeyed one.... something definitely looks off on that one with the disc not being flush with the mount.

Thanks for posting your alignment results as well, will be good to reference. Based on the specs from the lift install instructions yours is at the bottom end of the tolerance range, will be interesting to see where mine is at or cruiserhead or bigcat's are in the range.

@TMMTX that chart is gold, definitely taking that to the dealer to compare. @klitzy13 thanks for posting those dimensions, that’s more in line with others I’ve seen too. Super helpful to have some data points to discuss with the dealer

As well…I wanted to bounce off some things with y’all.

I just remeasured my lift from ground up, at center hub, floor to fender. Here’s what I got:

    LF / RF: 41.25” (1/4) / 41.125” (2/16)

    LR / RR: 41.5” (1/2) / 41.875” (14/16)

All pretty close. But nothing is exactly even. Front is just lower than rear, but the sides are off on both front and rear, which I would think would be exactly even.

For guys that do lifts often: what is the accepted margin of error?

That is great. I'm gonna take this to an alignment shop this week (hopefully). I'll post what I find out.

My truck has been at the dealer all day, just got an update from them they think it will require a spacer to fix the rub or they could do a sway bar relocation. I asked for the relocation kit and waiting to hear back from them.

I also ended up calling a dealer in Indiana who had posted some videos on YouTube of a factory lift on a new Tundra. Asked the service manager what they do to avoid rubbing on the sway bar and he was like “oh we use spacers on ours”. Makes me wonder how many of these that aren’t rubbing with 35s actually do have spacers.

The TRD lifts were designed for these trucks, there are specific alignment specs, and specific tire sizes that are not to be exceeded. What there is not…are spacers. You simply should not need them if all the requirements are followed and/or you choose a tire and wheel size that is proven to work. There has to be another answer.

I followed all Toyota specs (oem wheels and recommended tire size) and have bad sway bar rubbing. So I’m assuming the dealer didn’t align properly after install. But it rubs so bad that I can’t imagine some alignment adjustments making it completely better.

totally agree but not sure what to do if the dealer can’t figure this out. Since it’s under warranty guess I could take it to a different dealer? Not encouraged that I’ve talked to three different dealers and all of them said they use spacers with the OEM TRD wheels and the 285/65s.

Another frustration for sure. That’s one of the reasons I actually did NOT go with the dealer. They would have charged more for labor and possibly wouldn’t have been adept enough to get it done correctly…not being “suspension specialists”. I went to a place that does nothing but lifts and alignments.

Because my understanding was whether you have it installed at the dealer or someplace else, you’re not getting the 3 yr / 36k warranty unless it’s installed at the point of sale or as part of the vehicle purchase.

It has a one year warranty if installed after the vehicle purchase at some point. I believe it has to be installed by the dealer to get that 1 year warranty, though I am not completely sure on that.

I think the 1 yr is good regardless of who installs it.

Has anyone else gotten printouts of what their alignments are currently set at? I haven't had time to bring mine back to the dealer yet, but curious if anyone else has a printout or results like what TMMTX posted? I know mine didn't rub prior to getting my CV replaced a couple weeks ago. First thing I did after I got it installed end of March was drive across the street and turn lock to lock in a parking lot as it was something I was curious on after some comments earlier in this thread. I forgot I did that until I was chatting with a coworker about this earlier this week.

Anyone else have noticeable squeaking in the rear? Even when I hit lightly irregular roads I’m hearing what honestly sounds like a cheap motel bed that’s being used…rigorously.

Was looking at my tires this morning as this thread for me thinking about alignment. Noticed significant rounding on the front tires after only 3500 miles. Going to take it in to the dealer Wednesday for an alignment check. Will see if I can get a printout of before and after
