I swapped to 800lb Eibachs springs yesterday. Little preload, sitting an 1.5" taller. Rides well on some mildly rocky backroads.

Yes the 800lb are good in my case ( CM). I was apprehensive but glad I did it. Less lean on corners and during braking while not being too stiff. Plus I got he height I wanted without having to max out preload. Even with a group 31 battery I am only 1/4" lower on the driver's side.

Im thankful to Accutune for putting out the info. So much misinformation out there. They explain a lot to there customers.

Where is the Accutune info? I went to their website reading the article sections but I did not see the springs discussed, just the shocks. What did I miss

You didn't miss anything. I was referring to their explanations, diagrams and videos not necessarily about the 800lb springs

i was referring to their tech articles and videos. Helped clarify for me how these things work.

Icon Stage 9 lift, 700 pound rated Eibach spring, Sumo Springs (rear), RCI engine skid plate. RCI Lower Control Arm Skid Plates, RCI Transmission Skid Plate, RCI Cat Guards, Rago dash plate. RAM phone holder. Bed rails. Tint. 17x8 Icon Rebound wheels. 315/70/r17 Falken Wildpeaks. That's where I am now. I have a Icon Stage 9 for the last couple of years. I had to go with the Eibach 700 pound spring rate because of the front fab bumper and winch was too heavy. The Icon springs weren't holding it. But the preload was at max height just to give my Tundra a level look with the 700s. I got the 800 pounds springs for Christmas, but haven't put them on yet. I was kind of hoping to hear from someone's experience to see if they were oversprung, or if there was too stiff of a ride. Eibach couldn't tell me since they never tested that set up.

Also, I think I'm about to hit 35-40k miles on my Icons. Anyone get their Icons rebuilt in that short of miles? Mostly city/highway driving (90-95%). 5-10% offroad. I was thinking of just replacing the springs when I had them rebuilt.

    Thanks!

Yeah, I call BULLSHIT on that one! No way the lift should be advertised at a height that is unachievable for this many years and everyone thinks that is acceptable. If I wanted a 2" lift I would have looked for a 2" lift. There are many that say "It is close" but when you are building a vehicle and you are reviewing specs on parts trying to piece together a build then find that the main components you reviewed had incorrect data. The build is not as designed due to the misinformation.

Could not help myself, this was a major headache I went through when I first put on the Icon lift and seen the lift was limited by... design

3.75 x 16 x 700lb springs? Need to confirm its a 3.0 Coilover and not a 2.5, usually those require a 3.75 ID spring. Also need to confirm length you need

No need to drop by until we confirm the springs you need. If you have a tape measurer, we need to know the inner diameter of the spring. If they are 3.75", it's not going to be something we have on the shelf and would need to special order them.

I went in a couple of weeks ago. Went to a local shop to have them done. Guy took them off the truck. And tried for awhile to remove the springs. He couldn't adjust the adjustor nut to release the springs. He said it was stuck and the threads may be damaged under them. I don't think he ever put wd-40 or PB Blaster on them though. He kept compressing the springs to release some of the tension. Didn't help. Finally told me he couldn't do it.

The local off road shops sends their rebuilds to him all the time. So he came recommended.

Also he tried to put the bolt back that holds my front sway bar and lower control arm. Couldn't do it. Finally took it over to a cutter and did something to the bolt. Came back and it went in. He said he made the end skinnier so it would grab. I kind of grimaced thought "I hope it doesn't fall out while driving ".

So I went to Lowes and got a 3/8 punch and a pipe and I'm going to see if I can move the adjustor nut it with PB Blaster. If I can, I'm letting him know how I was able to do it.

He did say that the shocks look good and nothing wrong with them. So if it's working just keep the 700s on. But I'd still like the 800s.

I spoke to Icon and they recommended to try the 3/8 punch and PB so that's why I'm trying it. They also said that with the 700 springs, it could have damaged the threads but they couldn't say for sure. Wish me luck!

When I went to adjust mine I used a pair of endless ratchet straps on each spring and tightened until snug with wheels on ground, each strap had a wll of 3300lbs. I then jacked the front of the truck and was able to easily adjust the preload with weight off thr front and springs still compressed. I tried.doing it normally but it was too tight.

In regards to not being able to remove the 700lb springs... the shop wasn't able to compress the springs enough to remove that spring seat or whatever that parts called to twist and remove? itScreenshot_20230507_170453_Chrome.jpg. You must have that preload maxed out I guess. Did they have one of those Branick spring compressors? Where are you in NorCal?

Yeah. My preload is almost or may be mixed out. I measured 3 inches of thread on one side. Before he even took it off, the guy looked and said it was maxed out.

I think he had one. He hooked it up to something. And it started compressing the springs. He started to get worried about how much it he had to do it. LOL.

I'm in the Sacramento area. I know there's a couple of shops in Auburn that could do it.

I may try to use ratchet traps. Good idea. I've seen others do it on YouTube.

I removed mine a few times with one of these easy. Hope you find a shop that can get it done.

So the shop removed the coilovers, put a spring compressor on the springs to relieve tension and still was not able to rotate the preload nut? Even with no spring tension?

Just my .02 but if you are going to try with a punch/pipe/pb blaster while the shocks are on the truck I think you are going to make it worse. Did the recommended shop have any suggestions before he said he couldnt do it?

Yeah. He suggested cutting the adjustor nut off and getting new ones to replace them. He didn't have any so I'd have to order them from Icon directly. I spoke to Icon about that plan and they agreed that would be the ast resort.

Or I just wait until the shocks fail and buy new ones. Then remember to have them not set the preload so high. I think the recommended max height is 2.75" from Icon.

You think it may ruin the threads if I tried to adjust them myself?
