Funny that this thread popped up on my alert. After having these springs for a little while I've decided that I will get, not right now, 1 more set. I want to get 1350lbers but with 3" wide springs and with 2.5" wide eyelets. Love the Orbit Eyes so I'll get those again. Will probably go with 7" of lift instead of 5".

The one thing I hate about these springs is that they make a lot of noise rubbing against each other - possibly caused by the high arch. This weekend I'm making my last ditch attempt to quiet them down my installing 2" wide sheetmetal flashing between each leaf. The ICON leafpack I once had did something similar so I'll take a shot at it.

Interested to see how this works for you, I might need to do something similar. How long are you going to make each piece?

    good stuff here.
I ended up with Deaver customs since they are local to me and would save $$ on shipping and install.

Long enough so that they get held in place by the brackets because they will likely rotate out of place.
We will find out at T2S if this works.

I just finished adding two more tundra leaves to my truck for a bastard pack and I added the OEM metal plates from that leaf pack. Sprayed WD-40 dry silicone in between the leaves. Will see how it does at T2S. After seeing this, I kind of wish I did something like you're trying. Curious on the results for sure!

Curious about your "bastard pack". I need to boost my load carrying a good amount and do not want to pay $$$ for a custom pack. I was going to add a short and long add-a-leaf with long travel air bags for tuning.

Did you cut down the leafs? Photos?

I initially put a poor quality add-a-leaf in my truck years back and both of them broke. When I took my pack apart, I actually left them in place and cut two of the leaves from the other pack to stack on top. I was toying with the idea of taking apart my main pack and putting a leaf in between the three there, but decided against it for now. If I want to do that in the future, I still have the main leaf from the donor pack.

I'm also running clamps in front and behind the axle where the broken add-a-leaf ends.

This is how the pack looks with the two new leaves in, I will likely add a clamp where the red line is.

    upload_2023-4-19_10-25-6.jpg

At bare minimum I would get 1/2" of lift from the new springs but overall it netted me 2-1/4"ish inches, I'm expecting it to settle some however.

That’s interesting. I don’t have any clatter in my Alcan’s. Now my UCA is a completely different story. Maybe I can’t hear the leaf clatter because the squeaks in my UCA are drowning it out.

I like it! Boise Spring does something similar to what you have when beefing up rear leaf packs. They remove the overload though, and then add 3 additional leafs below the regular pack, that are staggered but pretty close in length as I recall. Maybe I can find a photo. Looks like the add-a-leaf is curved a lot more than the Tundra leafs; that's why it broke. Stupid way to do things, you want them all the same.

This is the Boise Spring kit I was talking about, with install instructions for a Tundra. They actually add 4 leafs after removing the overload. I don't know exactly what load this is designed for, but adding 1500 lbs to the rear axle for hauling a camper is pretty typical for a Tundra. Could a guy just go to a spring shop and buy leafs with the right length, curve, thickness?

Would Alcan leaf springs made for a 2019 TRD Pro fit a 2014 Platinum? He said they were made for +700lbs total. He didn’t tell me what lift over stock

I am looking to upgrade my suspension and am leaning towards Old Man Emu. They come with leaf springs but for $800 I may go pick these others up and piece the suspension together without the leaf springs that OME provides

Yes but without knowledge of how much lift over stock, if any, you're leaving yourself open to a surprise rake.

Just confirmed that what he has is Alcan springs for a 2019 TRD Pro crewmax, 700lbs over stock and 1” lift over stock.

I have a 2014 Platinum crewmax. Want to conform with you guys that these would work on my truck. Going with an Old Man Emu suspension but I think these Alcans would be better than the springs that come with that kit. Would love to hear y’all’s opinions

Reason I’m leaning towards this is my truck has the aftermarket transfer flow 46 gallon replacement tank and I carry a few hundred pounds of gear in the bed regularly

A typical gallon of gas weighs 6 lbs so 46 x 6= 276 lbs. The weight of the tank is 187 lbs so 276 + 187= 463. You'll probably be good to go.

Did you ever try the RAS on after market springs? I'm upgrading to the K37 from Deaver and I'm curious if they will fit on afterwards with the TC Shackles and 11leaf pack from those guys. Or if it will even be worth it.

I'm trying to carry a GFC camper with gear and potentially a hitch mounted dirtbike.

    Thanks

I solved creaking/squeaky leaf pack on my Tacoma with a ziptie. Cheap and easy, worth trying maybe if the noise really bugs you. Near rear end of one of the middle leaves that didnt already have a pad between them. Just pry apart and slide a ziptie in and pull it tight on that 1 leaf.

My Icon 3 leaf kit just started squeaking like mad after running it through a car wash a few weeks ago. It started squeaking very faintly a while back but now it’s like a cheap motel headboard.
