I have the JB4 on a limited along with a pedal style tuner also and it’s great no real issues. Definitely takes the lag out of the pedal and I run the 91 octane map for the JB4

If I do get it, I would just go right for map 2, 93 octane.

Set up works very well. I’m running this pedal commander. Yeah I run 93 when I find it cheaper enough. I would say best two things for the truck or at least top five things you should get on the truck

It’s just a matter of there being a demand for it, and someone will do it I am sure

The JB4 cannot alter the stock fuel trim levels. I assume the SR fuel trims are not as aggressive as the SR5 trims.
As far a fuel is concerned, 91 or great is good. I prefer an E30 mixture. If you have 32 gallons, I’d start with 7 gallons of E85 and 91 or 93 octane.

I use this table to calculate how much E85 or when my mixture is at E30.

    https://www.morepowertuning.com/emix

you have to consider how much ethanol is n your regular gasoline and the percentage concentration in the E85 you are running.

One benefit of E85 is it helps run your engine cooler.

you can also install an online sensor from fuel it which can be purchased from BMS also to know the exact E85 levels.

Just to clarify, you can't run e85 as of today. Max I've ran was E50 one time, I sent BMS a log and although it was fine, fuel trims started creeping up and they advised against it. They recommended I stay between E30 and E40.

With that being said, I've been on this blend for a year/13k miles and have not had any issues. Wouldn't consider 1yr/13k miles "long term" but it's something

    I’d kill for 94 octane, I’m my neck of the woods we highest we get is 91 @ $4.00 a gallon & E85 for $2.69 a gallon.

I’m interested in both reviews, but especially the pedal controller. Appreciate your review with and without the tuner.

As someone who doesn't want to pay for premium anymore, is a JB4 worth it for regular unleaded?

No. You need the increased octane to take advantage of the modified tables it uses.

They essentially have several tiers of increased boost and you pick the tier you run based on octane. If you get to the top tables, more esoteric blends and methanol injection are required.

I saw few posts on FB forums, etc, where folks have installed the JB4 on the SR trims and love the results. Just FYI.

Then I misspoke based on my knowledge of their BMW (or Supra) offerings. The point still stands in my response that you aren’t going to get any real advantage running 87. As you progress pushing for power, the fueling requirements go up with it.

Where do you live…CA? My local Sunoco in SE PA has 94 at about $0.80 higher than 87 which puts it at about $4.55 right now.

I’d be happy with tuning the SR to the stock performance level of the other trims.

An year ago when I talked to burger tuning, I was told that each map adds additional boost, I don't believe there is a map to make it SR5 equivalent. see the breakdown below that burgertunning sent me at the time

    Map0: Factory tuning
Map1: 3.5psi over stock peak, suitable for all 91+ octane fuel
Map2: 4.5psi over stock peak, suitable for 93+ octane fuel
Map3: 5psi over stock peak, suitable for 93-E30
Map4: 6psi over stock peak, suggested for E30+
Map5: 6.5psi over stock peak, suggested for E30+
Map6: Custom tuning, not suggested yet
Map7: WMI , not suggest yet
    Map8: VALET / low boos

Remind me what map you’re running on? Looks like maps 3-5 are the same blend of premium and E30?

Part of why that cost was so high for 94 (in that picture) is that it was also ethanol free. That crap isn't cheap, but worth it for some applications.

So I saw this on our gas cap today…are we sure there are no long term impacts from running E30?

You’ll be please to know that you can erase codes also with the JB4. I mounted on top of the fuse box and placed the Bluetooth to dongle as close to the driver side as possible. Enjoy your new found power.

Following the development of the pedal module from Burger. Please update us! I'm going to install the Pedal Commander and will report here if any codes or problems arise.

Awesome post mbishop13!! Pls share your experiences, what fuel/map you are running, are you using any drive modes on top of that (Sport, Tow, Tow+ etc). Did you go for the ethanol analyzer, will you run higher maps?

I am absolutely, totally loving mine too. Took me by surprise. Build quality, app quality, responsiveness to email requests, and RESULTS! I am so excited with these experiments.

Just running map 1 on 91 Octane on normal drive mode for now. So much more low end power, just feels so much more BA overall. Im sending back my Burger pedal tuner they are totally fine with an exchange. Will try Pedal Commander next.
