That looks like a great buy for $8,000. Make sure the timing belt has been done. If it hasn't, you're long over due based on age.

yes that’s the first thing I’m doing along with all the other maintenance stuff. He said it was changed at 105k but it has 187k on it now so it’s time

 

And it definitely looks good in the pictures but it’s a little rough up closer in person but nothing bad manly scratches and paint fade but no dents or anything

 

It may not hurt to pull back the timing cover and peek at the belt before driving on it anymore. It's two 10mm bolts. We've had a few members look at theirs only to find it wasn't even safe to drive. I know you mentioned you're doing it soon but thought I'd mention it anyways.

Everyone here recommends the Aisin timing belt kit. Rock Auto sells it.

 

yeah I’m not driving it until I get it done it’s currently my second vehicle. Once I get everything done though I may sell my Jeep gladiator to get out of the payments as this thing is paid off and it seems from all the reviews to be pretty reliable truck

Usually Grandpa trucks aren't beaten, so you're stoked.
Interesting shell . . . did they cut the actual tailgate for that or am I missing something?
I've seen similar setups here in SoCal where you remove the tailgate, and the whole unit with the door attached slides in.
Would be interesting to see this closer.

Thanks! Yeah the shell replaces the tailgate and you have 2 ways of getting into the back the whole big door pops up or you have the smaller door in the middle for quick access. He did include the original tailgate though

Nice! It's got all the right options, looks like grandpa didn't spare any expense. As long as the frame doesn't have the typical rot (shouldn't be too much a problem if it's been in E. TN its whole life) and the timing belt is in good shape, you got a hell of a deal. 187k is nothing on these trucks.

And that shell is wild, I've seen one other member on here with one. My OCD is really twitching over the fitment of the side windows though... It's gotta be worth a pretty penny!

I mean, first 50k miles of mine was grandpa. And that's why my damn heads look like someone painted them with thinned out varnish The 10k after that were - best I can tell - someone using it for hauling boats or jet skis to the lake. All short-trip kinda stuff.

But with the mileage that thing has on it, I'm guessing the heads are probably gonna look clean as a whistle.

 

I see now . . . Wow, that's cool that it follows the body lines like that.
The ones I've seen around here don't even pretend to do that. I guess they are of more 'One Size Fits All'.

If it’s going to be camping rig, that is the perfect cap.

 

I messaged a lady in northern GA last week for the identical truck and identical cap. But she was much prouder of hers. Had 18xk miles and she started at nearly $16k and went down to $14,500. I felt it was still too much. I would’ve jumped on it for your price. Nice find

Yeah the truck body has a lot scratches and some paint fading and the frame has more rust on it than they told me and the photos they sent. I was talking to the husband and got them to deliver the truck to me about 4 hours away and when I saw it in person I didn’t agree on the price and just made them an offer and they took it rather than driving all the way back home with out a sale I guess.

 

Ah yeah that makes sense. She did tell me there was some rust on the frame. I still would’ve gone to look were it not so far from me. But honestly, the frames are so clean from the Carolinas south that I was being very picky.

Oddly enough, the truck I picked up last week was from Maryland. And the frame is beautiful. Go figure. I had been calling about trucks all the way to south FL. I found a really nice one in Clearwater. Her pics looked horrible. It was a Massachusetts truck lol. So I guess you never know.
