Sounds good to me. I agree but I’ve read others have good luck with them too. Yeah I’m in the same boat about mileage now that I work from home full time. Only 13k miles total on it since I bought it back at the end of 2020.

Had mine almost a year now and about 7k miles and no complaints. Their great on and offroad. I was worried about the 650 spring rate being too low but it's perfect paired with duro bump stops at 2 inch total lift setting with shims.

    What
How much shim you use? I used a one 1/4” and had to raise coil over a bit. This was because my tires are too large for setup now. Running a 295/60/20 and only 10k on them got awhile left to run them.

Why not just use the wrench and jack up the one coilover instead of using the shim?

I used the 1/4 per side plus a 1/8 on driver.

I wanted to preserve preload as much as possible and have the option of hitting 3 inch later without taking coils out again which is why I used shims.

What do you mean by "preserve preload"?

There was a definite change in ride quality once I adjusted coilover to add more height. Ultimately changing spring tension/preload/rate. Before I raised it to accommodate my tires size being too big. Once these wear out I’ll being changing tire size down. Factory set with 1/4 shims it rode like a smooth puff of cloud.

shims at the top give you a little more lift without having to crank the spring on the coilover itself.

This is pretty much where im at and i love it. I will be going to 275/70 after my 275/65's wear out, I have had them about 15k miles but i been beating them, nonetheless I think they will last another few years minimum.

Sure, I understand what the spacers are for, but that defeats the purpose of the adjustable coilover. If you max them out and still have a lean, then I guess a 1/8" shim on the low side to even it out would be OK, but otherwise the benefit of adjustable coilovers vs a cup kit type setup is that you don't need shims to get a perfectly level ride height.

Adding preload to the spring does not change spring rate, all it changes is ride height, it doesn't cause a stiffer ride. If you're feeling that its more likely a symptom of just too much lift for the rest of your suspension setup... see below. The spring rate is 650 lbs per inch, regardless of how many inches you compress it, all the way to coil bind. Obviously, too much preload and you risk coil bind, not enough and the spring will be loose in the perches. The shock stroke has a high and low limit as well. That's why you need matched dampers and springs specific to a particular vehicle.

This coilover is good for 0-2.75" of lift, for a reason. There's only so much travel to be had, split between up and down travel. The higher you go the less down travel you get. A 2.5-2.75" lift gives you about a 80-20% split. A 4x4 Tundra has about 11" of total travel, so that's about 2.25 inches of down travel. Every time you hit a dip your wheel can only drop that far before the coilover assembly tops out and stops the wheel dead and you get a harsh ride. Anything over that on otherwise stock suspension causes a shitty ride no matter how you slice it. People go 3" plus spacers all the time, and then complain about a harsh ride, because the overall length of the assembly and the lack of down travel created by that are just not going work unless you replace all kinds of other stuff like LCAs, UCAs, axle length, AKA "long travel", or do a bracket lift.

My advice on any Toyota IFS without going long travel is to stay at just under 3" total lift and enjoy a comfy ride. Go over that and prepare for the symptoms.

I understand what you are saying about spring rate, and you are correct. However, it is still better to stay in the "middle" of the spring. The way springs behave and are conditioned, the rate is steadier of sorts towards the middle of the body, that is why spring rate is correctly measured after the first 20% of its total travel and before the last 20% of its total travel. I know this because I worked in a spring factory for years. Additionally, while I realize it isnt exactly an apples to apples comparison, there are numerous people on this forum who have reported a much harsher ride on Bilstein shocks when they are set on their topmost setting compared to 1 setting lower. The closer a spring is to its free length, the less stress there is on the coils at any given time, which results in a feeling of less stressed, or harsher ride.

I did still use the adjustability of the coilover to dial in both sides to the exact measurement I wanted between the 2 sides.

I picked up my set from another member to replace my Bilstein Red TRD sports with leveling spacers. Honestly, they don’t feel any different to me. Kinda disappointed, I was expecting a smoother ride. I even cranked them down and lowered the front end by 1/4” with no improvement.

maybe the last owner put the higher rate springs on it. I think standard its 650 lb but they have higher rated springs too i think. I noticed a big improvement but I came from the stock black shocks

Hmmmm, you may be on to something here. I wonder? They feel like I’m driving over a board whenever I cross the little reflectors in the road.

Hmm I can't say mine are soft but they don't feel like that. Are your other suspension components new or in good shape?

My truck is strictly a highway vehicle. Everything felt tight under there when I mounted them. I put new freedom off-road upper control arms in when I stuck these on. I guess the disappointment is that I was expecting a softer ride from trd red Bilsteins with spacers. Maybe my expectations should have been a little lower. I’ve even aired down to 34psi. I have air bags in the back that I have set at 5 psi as well. I was running 45psi in the tires before and 10 psi in the rear bags before.

Maybe I’ll try another 1/4” down and see if that helps any. I can’t imagine that I could go too low

@Chucksmith07 just want to thank you again for the recommendation of the UCAs. I installed them last week and aligned and have been amazing so far. Now time to try them out with some light off-roading in a few months.

    Finally got mine on.

A bit more tire clearance, fixed minor rub on full lock reverse and should hopefully absorb all the spring pot holes and get me ready for camping and fire road exploration.

I'm happy with them, we don't do any major off-roading, so didn't need 2.5 or 3, more expensive suspension. Was looking for more tire clearance and the option to hit some forest roads when camping and fishing.

We left the coilovers preloaded to however they were sent from Eibach.

By my measurements, they are within 1/2" of the rear. They may settle a bit, which would be fine too.

Now to see about adding front Timbren or SumoSprings etc. I don't know if they are needed, I still have to look into that.

Very Nice. Yeah they come in at around 2 inches in front from eibach already and will do some slight settle over time, which will put you level with the rear I do believe. As for the front with Timbren or Sumo Springs, its up to you if you want to add those, but if you have no plans on getting a heavy bumper / winch in front or do any major off-roading, I wouldn't even worry about it. I myself that have not upgraded mine and I do some very light off-roading 2-3 times a year and have not noticed any difference or "clunking" with my stock bump stops although its on my to do list because I do off-roading, just on the very bottom.

Hi everyone. I just got these installed on my 2020 crewmax 4wd. Out of the box they were 3 3/8 preload. The passenger side was 2.5 inches and the driver was much lower. I got to the max allowed preload of 3.75 per the instructions and it was still not level. In the end I backed the passenger side down to 3 1/8 and put the drivers side at 3.5. This gave me just about 2 inches of lift and it feels balanced right to left. No teetering on one side over bumps. This definitely feels like the sweet spot for this spring and shock combo.

I’m not sure you would ever get to 2.75 lift on the drivers side of a 4x4 crew max. I might look into doing 700 pound springs and a different UCA in the future to get it higher.

thanks to everyone to posted their measurements. That was very helpful.

Not sure what I did but I feel these front shocks have a lot of side to side bounce in them. When I go over really un even surfaces the truck bounces right to left really bad. The driver side has 1/2 inch more pre load then passenger side. It’s been really challenging getting thing to be level. It’s almost like it wants to lean one way or the other.
