What’s special about the socket other than the slit in the side? Why couldn’t one just use a box end wrench or since I am replacing the sensor anyways cut the wire and use a normal socket?

My O2 socket has a 90 degree 3/8" "coupler" if you will. Has made jobs possible which would not have been without it.

Not sure where they mount the several O2s on the tundra or what else may be blocking access, but the proper tool really can come in handy.

@17TundraDCEd sent a nice black exhaust tip and I finally had the time and weather, and a relatively pain free day (along with a exhaust pipe expander) to install it.

yes either option could work if you can get in the area to do it, not sure where the O2s are on the tundra, but several cars that come through the shop just aren't possible with the socket or several other tools, only use the box end of the wrench and not open or you risk striping the O2 sensor nut

Thanks guys! I could see what you mean on some vehicles. The Tundra doesn’t look horrible for access. Good to know I can rent one if I need to.

Yeah that doesn’t look too bad, renting is also free, you just put a security deposit down and you get it back when you return the tool

When I replaced my O2 sensor I picked this up. I can't remember if I ended up using it or not, but it was cheap insurance to make sure I didn't run into any snags.

This was the O2 sensor I used on my 07 tundra upstream driver's side. It's been in there for a year or so now.

    Installed fancy pedals. Before/after:

They feel great! The install was easy, but not as easy as it looks.

You need to drill through your existing pedals 3/16" to add machine screws and nuts. The parking and regular brakes are pretty thick steel so get a variety of specialty bits and work your way up. I had to remove the gas pedal to tighten the nuts.

I broke my 1/16" bit and my 3/16" bit is now a 1/8"... So I'll be buying some new metal bits.

Did an oil change, differential drop, carrier bearing drop, and clearancing for my 37's. I thought I had enough room near the cab to fit them, but I kept rubbing against the rear fender liner, so I decided to cut a few sections in my pinch welds and folded them over. I then heated up the liner to reform it against the wheel well. Now I've got plenty of clearance everywhere. Now I just need a different front bumper. My current choices are Coastal Off-road, SS Built, or Ironman 4x4.

I got to drive her again, following a transmission rebuild. Felt gargantuan after driving the Frontier...and quiet and comfortable, just like slipping into a well used pair of underpants.

Attempted to install 6112, new tie rods, new LCA, Bilstein UCA but the infamous LCA is getting the best of me. One came out easy and been at the other with 2 saw blades. Will try angle grinder tomorrow. Also bent a cam tab so I may have a gusset in my future.

can’t wait to finish these installs. All ball joints have been leaking for years.

Yesterday, not today...but here's what I did to mine (so far) this weekend.

Wiper arms were super faded, so I took them off for a proper cleaning, sanding, re-cleaning, priming and painting with a matte black automotive paint. Unfortunately I accidentally knocked them over and they hit the ground right after spraying the base coat, so now I'll have to re-sand today before putting on the final coats.

Also had one of my cargo lights out in the 3rd brake light assembly, so of course I did the only sensible thing and replaced both of them with the brightest LEDs I could find! And replaced the weather stripping on top of the cab.

    PXL_20230401_210936222.jpg

    PXL_20230401_222202685.jpg

Projects still on my list include a grille upgrade, console safe, swapping out the factory head unit and installing a backup camera with it, getting some running boards and maybe trying to find a new trim panel for the gauge cluster area since mine has a little crack in it. It's a completely stock '08 I found with only 74k on the clock, so I've got lots of plans and figure it has more than enough life left in it to be worth all the work!

Anybody ever shorten their shifter rod? It is ridiculously tall. Looking for best option to this.

Based on discussion in this forum, I changed my oil from 0W-20 to 5W-30 to see if it would quiet down some of the 5.7 rattle... Not much of a difference in a short drive but maybe it needs to circulate a bit?

I installed Jowett Performance valve and metal oil filter housing which should make future oil changes easier and neater. I also have the RCI skid plate so I only need to remove a small panel to access the filter.

Hey, I just ordered the ICS dash plate as well about a month ago. Have you received yours yet? I haven't gotten a shipping confirmation or much in the way of response on order updates.

Removed oem bumper bc friday the replacement comes in. RanchHand.

no, it won’t match the front but it’s the best rear bumper for my needs which is to prevent serious trama in a rear end collision.

After 5 days of messing with this, I finally. finished my front suspension.
    OEM LCA
    OEM outer tie rods
    6112 (#3 setting)
    Bilstein UCA.

off to alignment tomorrow. A lot of anger was involved with the seized LCA and UCA bolts but other than that everything went well. One of the outer tie rod jam nut is stuck so I hope the shop can fix it. The truck looks much better now after I took care of the rear last month.

spark plugs, engine, diff, and trans fluid next on the list.
