TRD dual exhaust

Keeping it for the day I never use it again.

 

I ordered the TRD exhaust from my local dealer last week, came in yesterday. Little more $ than Sparks, but they came close to matching.

Since I was at the shop today - for the safety COMPUTER RECALL, I had them installed the exhaust.. looks great! and sounds a touch better I guess.. I have the TRD air filters as well, turbos sound great when opening up!

Also had them installed the Cornfed 1” to the rear to level out from RC 1.75 level. Looks much better!!

 

Yes! I’ve tried but no luck, according to Toyota online parts it’s on National back order, on top of that the online sites does not recognize my 2023 model as well as my vin number

 

I have an order with two dealers for the blck dual exhaust. Hopefully, something soon! Might try ordering the chrome version if I don't hear anything in the next month or so.

At first, the online sites didn't recognize my VIN but now they do.

It will fit. The dealer will show it not being a compatible part. Give the. The part number direct and have them order it. Chrome was in stock. Not sure about the black chrome

 

Anybody else still waiting for these? I placed my order over a month ago with Lewis Toyota of Topeka. Called they said it's still on backorder.

I ordered the chrome version this morning. Hopefully it’s not backordered!

 

I placed an order for the black tips, supposedly till 5/23 is it supposed to arrive….

I was torn between the the two, but the chrome gives a nice and subtle accent to the midnight black. Excuse the filthy truck and terrible photo!

I got a response from Lewis Toyota. Not sure I understand it

"Hello,

We are unable to ship part #PT226-34220-00 as it is too large. Please let us know if you would like us to cancel that part from you order, or cancel your entire order."

 

What!? That's ridiculous

 

They just told me it was on back order when i called, but that was a week or two ago.

I got the very same response when I "bought" my exhaust from some dealer online. Price was great, shipping was even better ........... no wonder they cancelled with the same reason, as they'd probably eat a lot of (or all) profit on shipping.
That is, if they had this available for sale at all.

Slightly unrelated, but I'm sort of glad I ended up not getting it. Reconsidered, and I am now waiting patiently for Borla.
They never disappointed me, and I hope for respectable sound from their system, whenever it actually comes out.

 

When I ordered the chrome version I got it next day. Regional inventory is all that matters.

 

I ordered from Bighorn Toyota in Glenwood Springs CO last Thursday. It shipped from the PDC in Kansas City and was available for a Monday the 17th pickup. I think the size question refers to the box as size matters if being shipped from a dealership for freight cost. ( I ran PDC's for another manufacturer for years.) They are available, i ordered the chrome tips. Hope this helps

 

From reading the replies here, sounds like maybe only the black tipped is on back order.

 

Would like to thank everyone that posted to this thread. I finally got my new Tundra last Saturday after waiting since February. After I brought her home followed the instructions from this thread of removing the spare and jacking up the passenger side and easily removed and installed the new black chrome dual tip TRD exhaust. I don't work on my vehicles much but was a good bonding to install this exhaust tips, the side steps and mud guards. Thanks for the instructions here to give me the confidence that I could do this on my own.

I went to their on-line parts and "tired" to order - it tells me it won't fit my CrewMax '23 so I put in CrewMax '22 - it says it "may fit" and then it drops my order and says no matching parts. So I try on my cell phone - put the part number in (pt226-34220-00) and it accepts my order - go to cart and enter FreeShip which it applies - then at check out after all the funny math the advertised on-line price of $247 comes out to $369 with free shipping. WTF. Oh well I guess that is how they stay in business. I'll keep searching. Thanks for the work and effort to help us all find and get what we want! Much appreciated.

 

Lewis Toyota also wants $200 to ship it now. $400 then FreeShip takes $200 off? Not really Free Shipping

 

thanks for the "check your local dealer" thought. Generally, they are average at best. Found they had one, so I went on-line and ordered it this AM. Four hours later it is in my garage waiting for installl. $247 plus tax out the door. Appreciate your assistance to all of us!

I may need to check with your guys up there on stuff. My dealer down here in Burleson won't budge off of MSRP. Even when I was buying the truck, they wouldn't match online price or even discount anything. Sales and service have been great, parts.... Ehh....

I don't know why the family Toyota guys refuse to budge on price. Usually you can negotiate something when buying a vehicle, but they were stuck at their price. Kinda crazy in this online shopping world that we live in.

 

PSA for those doing their own installation - Took me about 30 minutes today to do mine. Assumes you have tools - deep socket for the nuts on the muffler flange, rachet wrench or other equal tool and floor jack or equal.

safety first! Flat and level surface with brakes set!

Drop and remove spare tire.

Slip the rubber holders off the tail pipe at the two locations (not the fixed location but the tail pipe).

Place jack under center of the Tow Hitch and raise the hitch (which lifts the truck bed) 4 or 5 inches.

Remove the nuts holding the tail pipe to the muffler and and pull the tail pipe off the bolts and then turn/twist the tail pipe while taking it over the axel and out of the driver side rear of the truck.

Reverse the process and you have completed the install.

Relax you just saved yourself some cash and can now have a cold beverage of your liking.

 

What does "blue" mean for this part? If I go to my local dealer via the Toyota parts gateway it is $256 and says it is Black Chrome. But strange, if I enter my vehicle details (SR5/double cab) it says "it may not fit your vehicle".

Every dealer I tried gave me the same response as you - "May Not Fit." Ignore their failed system. It fits. 2023 Tundra SR5 CrewMax for me. Fits like a glove. "...-00" is the Chrome and "...-02" is the Black. Some where in this thread is the sizing for CrewMax vs Double cab - and the numbers don't change just because you have and DC vs CM. Same part number fits but @ryanwgregg can confirm.

It makes sense that the same part would fit either cab. Muffler would be in the same location relative to the rear axle and wheel well. Any difference would probably be in the mid pipes.

 

Mine is ordered... Black Chrome. For pickup at my local dealer. Funny that before I changed it to pickup at the dealer it listed $280 shipping. LOL.
