Newb installation thread- Pioneer DMH-WT8600NEX into a 2018 SR5 Entune Non-JBL

No. But my front camera comes on when the selection is in the middle and when I choose the front. And I can't get the camera views to shut off.

 

So i need a Video bypass? Im using idatalink toyota harness thats plug n play, do i need to splice the parking brake wire and then just may be connect to ground? I did see a video where even if the parking brake wire is connected in plug n play harness - it works as long as you preform the bypass steps on pioneer HU.

 

I used the bypass tie-in first which is why I know doing both will work (doing just the physical bypass alone didn't do it for me). I don't know if you just do the screen procedure if it'll work or not. Worth a shot.

Back-up camera fixed. I had to run a jumper wire from a switched 12v wire in the vehicle wiring harness, to the purple/white wire coming out of the radio. Works like a champ now.

 

Installed, works great so far. Still to calibrate sound settings. What are the recommended settings when using with 5 channel Infinity amp?

 

I was able to program the steering wheel controls within the Maestro module to turn on my reverse and front camera. Works while driving down the road. I used the two talking buttons on the bottom left of the steering wheel. i didn't care about using the buttons to answer/hang up phone calls.

I push the asnwer call button and it turns on the front camera, push it again and it goes back to the radio. Same thing with the hang-up button and the rear camera. You can chose any steering wheel controls to do this.

 

Question for everyone…I would like to reinstall this unit into the 19 I just got. This truck has factory navigation and the updated dash cluster that has the gps directions in the cluster. Will the Maestro keep that function? I didn’t have that in my 17.

 

It lost the nav/compass in there in my 19.

 

Ugh, that sucks. I really like that feature to not have to turn my head to see the navigation directions.

 

I thought I would miss it more than i do. The large screen with carplay makes up for it.

 

All the installation work is worth it just to watch Thomas

 

PITA AINT IT, STILL AINT WATCHED ANYTHING ON MINE YET, EVEN THOUGH I HAVE A FIRESTICK. FOR LIKE A YEAR NOW....

 

Not really part of the stereo installation, but I installed the factory blackout/midnight dash pieces, and it helped pull together the entire console.

Also an update: my phase 1 and phase 2 stereo mods have not let me down. Other than some occasional issues with pairing after phone updates, this setup is very stable and predictable.

 

Did the same a while back. Love the darker look.

I had a helluva time getting my radio to take the transfer but it could've been user error

 

I was thinking about checking for an update yesterday because mine did a reboot on Thursday and Friday.

 

Where did you find the update? I don't see it on the Pioneer site.

 

In the Car AV assist app.

 

Smooth. The touchscreen is more responsive now.

 

I'm registered to CarAVassist but it doesn't do anything when I hit the connect button.

 

I followed this video when I updated mine.

I got it updated. While i was sitting there idling, my lane departure turned orange and my collision avoidance indicator came on....WTF. Maybe its because I have my sunshade in.

 

Newfangled doohickies I'm glad I don't have.

 

Yeah I'm hoping just a glitch between the sunshade glare and the heat.
