Mine stayed pressurized for a while before dropping to 0

I’ve run BAP on a few of my old builds they’re great but you should have no need for it with that fuel setup.Get that new regulator let’s see what happens.

Thanks for the feedback, that's how it's supposed to behave. Mine drops to 0 instantly. Some googling seems to suggest that the FPR diaphragm may be bad, or going bad, which would also impact fuel pressure at higher RPMs. Other people on car forums with instant pressure drops are reporting the same extended cranking as well, since the fuel rail isn't at pressure and the pump takes a few seconds to get it pressurized.

Mine has done the drop to 0 since the day I installed it. I assumed it was a result of replacing the stock FPR/rails/pump/lines with ProSpeed's fuel package, but my high RPM fuel pressure issue might have been the FPR all along...

Stock behavior for reference, should maintain half pressure for at least 5 min after engine off:

I don't know how it reacted on first install, but when I was troubleshooting I did take apart the AEM FPR and then reassemble. It seemed like the rubber gasket was originally hanging over the edge of the body of the FPR. in theory meaning it was seated too tight and didn't leave any room for the diaphragm to move appropriately. When I reassembled it, I made sure to get all edges of the diaphragm even with the body of the FPR.

Idk if that was/wasn't even an issue, but the FPR seems to be stupid simple inside

You can kinda see the blue diaphragm sticking out the side a little. I just tried to make sure it was as even as possible

FPR is in, pressure is the same, drop is the same but AFRs are a bit better. (high of 14 vs 16) at mid throttle, I'm afraid to go further.

The truck feels great, I don't understand.

Yea I found that out after reading about 10 forum replies and said to myself, I’m definitely not clever enough to write these ole lore rhymes. But I noticed armyoffoo’s posts didn’t get transformed.

Sent Walbro a message asking for a solution or replacement pump. Right now I have the 1/2" bung on the FPR, 3/8 are out for delivery, could that make a difference? Is there another way with the stock fuel rail to plumb the FPR?

The FPR fitting being 1/2 instead of 3/8 isn't the cause (although I'd get it swapped out if you're squeezing a smaller hose over it, you don't want it to split and leak later). I would suggest dedicated wiring for the fuel pump, but would want to see what Walbro support comes back with first. They might suggest that the stock fuel hard lines are too small, or wiring is insufficient to provide voltage, or the fuel pump ecu is regulating voltage down when you need more (safety to keep pump from burning out).

Here is their not very helpful but gives me the idea of no FPR so I ordered a T barb & NPT barb to remove the FPR & keep the pressure gauge.

It is very difficult to diagnose or give a definite solution to an issue this way due to many factors that can cause a problem. What voltage is running to the fuel pump? Have you tested the fuel pressure without the regulator to see if that may be where the issue is. What type of fuel are you using? Are you using any features such as PWM (Pulse Width Modulation). Otherwise it would need to be sent in for warranty, if that is a route you would like to take I can send you the details on what that entails.

I responded I understand but if you have any suggestions I can try prior to pulling the tank I'd appreciate it.

I'm not thrilled they won't do any kind of advance replacement, I bought the pump from them, end of January & it's been in for a week.

Are there any other equivalent pumps I can try? I'd prefer to deal with a company that gives a damn.

There are a lot of variables, so they can only really provide so much, but at least they responded with some things to check, although not easily.

Monitoring the fuel pressure using the stock FPR
Verifying voltage at pump (Fuel pump ECU adjusts this based on engine load %(but has no way to account for supercharged systems))
Verifying power supply to pump isn't being modulated (Fuel pump ECU does this)

Beyond that, all they can do is verify the pump is good.

I understand they can't diagnose over email, but hoped they had seen issues & would tell them to me.

How would I deal with any of the voltage variables? Are they all needing to run a dedicated wire to the power of the pump (tank out) Is there a way to tell the ecu to give more voltage?

Dedicated wiring is the only way I know of, I haven't seen any voltage adjustment in the HP tuners software. I was hoping the BAP might be a work around for that, but they say it's not recommended for Walbro pumps as they will draw too much for the stock wiring to handle.

Sounds like I need a pump that does not draw so much power but I know many others are using this pump so it seems to me there is another issue, no? I just want to either solve it not pulling the tank or pull the tank once & solve it.

    :p

But they have ok AFRs? No?

I'm over 16, at 1/2 throttle that is very bad, no?

Even if everyone else’s pressure was dropping that hard and we just don’t know it, no one else is reading lean on their wideband is what is strange. Are you sure when you’re watching your AFR that you’re getting into the throttle enough to get it to go into part throttle enrichment? You would probably have to go over 50% throttle depending on your tune. The stock tune doesn’t go into part throttle enrichment until 70% throttle.

Matt Smith says the DW300C 340LPH pump is the way to go, easiest direct OE style drop in pump which is plenty up to 600whp and Tim at Xact is who does the tuning for all of his builds.

Just an aside. Pretty sure that I remember reading the F PMP (fuel pump) fuse is 15amp, but on my 2021 it's 25amp fuse
