I'm looking at a 2006 double cab that is in good shape, except that it has a 6 or 7in lift.

Can I practically and cost effectively remove the lift and return to stock ride height or a couple inches of lift only?

I'm hoping to go see the truck tomorrow.
    Thanks
    R

Anything is possible with money and time, but 'how easy' ultimately depends on what lift they have installed. You'll need to ask that question. There are very few companies who make legit 6-7 inch lifts for these trucks. Be careful what you're getting into if it's not Tuff Country or RCD. Not to be confused with Rough Country.

And if you're looking to buy a new 1st Gen, you really need to read THIS THREAD. If you're only thinking/worried about the lift, or that's the biggest concern, then I worry myself about what you may end up with.

6 or 7 inch lift will be a drop bracket lift. The catch with that is they cut the crossmember out and weld in the “drop bracket ” portion of the lift. Honestly be cheaper and less headache to buy a truck that isn’t lifted if your not a fan of the lift

There's at least one other possible open, that being the current owner installed a 3" suspension lift with a 3" body lift, possibly with an extra half inch to full inch on either.

It's entirely possible the person who installed the lift, or possibly had it installed, knew what they were doing. But nobody on this forum can say, unless they're the seller or they installed it.

It was a complete hack job.... I doubt it would pass inspection with the horrible welds and scab patches on the frame.... Didn't even pay attention to the lift, haha. Thanks anyway folks!
