I Have a Fuel Leak Coming From Some Gizmo

Hi. I have a 2015 5.7FFV. There is a fuel leak coming from a device mounted on the driver's side frame rail, next to the fuel tank. The gizmo is 7 inches long and roughly cylindrical. There is a black braided hose going in to the back of the device. The rear 4 or 5 inches of the device is black plastic. There are 2 braided hoses (1 green, 1 red) fitted to the inside side of the device, pointed toward the fuel tank. There is an electrical connection near the front of the device. The leak is coming from the cylindrical metallic area at the front of the device. The electrical connector has >PA66< stamped on it. 10900 is stamped on the other end. The only other marking I can find on the device is >PC/ABS<, which is stamped near the green and red hose connections.

What is it? What does it do? How much does it cost to fix? Any chance it was part of a recall? Thanks

Looked under my 16 and didn't see anything that fits your description.

 

Sounds like the evap cannister. Do you overfill your gas a lot after it clicks off?

It's buried, so I can't get a good pic. But the part referenced in post #3 of this thread is very close.

It is not leaking at any of the 3 connections.

So it looks like it is a fuel tank solenoid valve. What does that do? What are those 3 hoses connected to it?

 

I'm pretty sure that I only have one fuel tank.

 

In my estimation, anything to do with fuel and a leak is reason enough to take it to the dealer for repair. Good luck with the fix!

Can someone smarter than me look at these drawings and explain what this fuel tank solenoid valve assembly does? Does the tank need to be dropped to replace it?

This seems to be the replacement part. The leak seems to be at the circular place at the bottom right of the picture.

 

This shows the 2 hose connections on the right, and the circular area where I see wetness. Remember, this is mounted on the driver side frame rail, right next to the tank. The red and green lines are at the same elevation as the top of the fuel tank, and pointed toward it.

I appreciate the link, but that's not it. It's a different solenoid and not located in the canister area, which is off by itself much farther back under the bed on my truck.

did you resolve this issue with the fuel leak? I’m having a similar problem. Location is left side of the vehicle towards the engine compartment. Haven’t crawled up in that area yet, due to the Wx being 14 deg F and snow covered ground. But that’s on my list of things that need to be addressed.
