How can I adjust the settings if I want to add more midbase to door speakers? I just finished the installation and it does wake the factory system up you can actually hear it with the windows open. It's not an active 3 way system or even a headunit upgrade but for 400 bucks it will work for me.

 

There was a thumbdrive and a usb cable that came with the unit.
Install the software and drivers on a windows laptop from the thumb drive, plug the usb cable into the amp and the laptop, SAVE an export of the current settings in case you need to revert back to the “tune” that James loads on it, then fiddle around as you want.

Playing with the settings might seem a little overwhelming at first, but you'll figure it out. I added bass back into the door speakers. The original tune had crossover frequency set too high for me. The software allows you to mute the different channels. I found this useful when making adjustments so I could hear what was coming out of each speaker and then turn the others back on to listen to them together.

 

So I just did my install on my system (amp and sub) from James. So supplied from James the JBL amp front switch settings are “LO” and “REM”. The system keeps shutting down. If I move the switches to “lo” and “DC” the power light on the amp comes on and I get sound through the speakers. Can someone that has done the install on a stock JBL system tell me what their switches are set to?

i’m trying to find pics on here of the subwoofer box installed in a crew cab and can’t seem to find anyone posting one. This is the box/subwoofer that comes from tech12volts.com. Does it go behind the seat where the existing one is? Have I missed someone’s write up on it?

 

He's got a couple of different boxes. If you are talking about the single sub (in lieu of the dual sub box), yes it sits in exact same location as the factory box behind the driver's side rear seat. Dimensions are slightly larger, so the fit is very tight; but this is to help keep the box from moving and vibrating as the output, especially w/the upgraded JBL DSP/AMP that he sells, is significant.

Sorry I have no pics for you, but I was fighting weather (heavy rain) during the install. So, I just got it done when I could and didn't slow down for pics, etc....

Just for reference this is the one that I used, it's a "loaded" box (comes w/sub); most of them on his site are just empty box and you add your own sub...

Yes Bird, I have the tech12volts and it’s goes behind the seat to replace your JBL one if you are doing a full system upgrade like I did. Tough to take a pic with the seat in the way. I did not have my install take a pic when he put it in.

 

When i received mine I had to mount the sub supplied by tech12volts into the box. yes very tight fit. I did not think to take pictures ir at least if I did dod not save them. same box as tripleconpanna posted

 

Wow what a difference I should have pulled the trigger sooner. To the ones that added Tech12volts sub have you found your over all volume lower? Wondering if its worth getting the Amp from them as well.

I got everything from James. All arc audio. Love it. Planning down the road adding new headunit. It’s fine for now.

 

Not sure I understand the question, but I'll give it a go....

If you're saying that your sound throughout the range of frequencies and through all speakers is lower now that you installed a replacement sub, I can't give you feedback w/my personal experience as I replaced both at the same time.

However, the OE head unit does not do a great job processing signals and the system in general is underpowered, so it's feasible that the factory amp and signals coming from the head unit are fighting each other to perform.

Yes, the JBL DSP/AMP combo is a night and day difference not only in power to your sub and other speakers but in signal processing as well. You won't be disappointed

 

No, sound seems lower since I have sub that actually works now.

I’m still loving my system from Randy. Would like to change the headunit out. Still have not pulled the trigger.

 

Still loving mine! Single sub enclosure, JBL DSP amp, JL speakers! Just what I wanted!

 

Loving mine. I got sub, amp, and hertz speakers. Absolutely love it.I’ll upgrade head unit some day but in no hurry.

 

Has anyone has any issues at all? I still haven’t bought the amp yet. I’ve got less than 8k miles on my 21 and while I’m sure the amp makes a huge improvement, I don’t hate the way it sounds with just the upgraded sub.

Hey Bergy24 what do you need to know? I’m in Pa. Not sure where you are located. Are you looking to upgrade your whole system?

 

I was getting a popping, crackling sound.narrowed it down to lead off of amp.let James know and he sent me a replacement amp.

 

Just wanted to see if anyone Pa. Has the amp and sub installed so I could listen to it to compare. I’m located in the York area.
