Has anyone taken off the bed light cover to see if the wires for the cameras are there? Im just curious if I could add in the bed camera and Rear View Camera to my SR5 if its a simple plug and play?

    Lots of stuff!
My Limited TRD has all the cameras but doesn't have the mirror. I have button automatic tinting for night driving (this does the side mirrors as well). and 3 buttons for homelink. Mine came with the Multi Terrain Monitor kit as part of the TRD option. I can navigate through all the different views on the screen and look over the box towards the rear. Seems strange that the mirror isn't part of this package.

Maybe the mirror is a different unit?

Digital Rear-view Mirror is part of the package that contains SPA (Straight Path Assist). The aide in backing up a trailer in a straight line.

Anyone in Colorado with a standard non camera mirror, please DM me I need to check a few things but I'm fairly sure my camera relocation cable (selling soon i promise) will also allow adding the digital mirror to SR5's/that dont have it.
If youre in Colorado and want to buy and add the digital rearview and camera module. PM me I'll help make it happen.

Still can't figure out what the point of a digital rear view is when it will get blocked by all the same stuff a glass mirror would get blocked by, just makes the truck more expensive.

    1. Camera for DRV mirror is on the back of the cab, thus the headrest/people or other stuff in cam will not block view.
    2. During inclement weather or even dusk to dawn the image on the DRV is clearer.
    3. The viewing angle on the DRV is wider.

    4. It is used by SPA to backup trailers. (Straight path assist) for those that may need it or find it easier to use than doing it manually.

I see alot of older trucks (non toyota) adding them in after the fact. Seems like with them its a DRV, with a cable all the way to the back cab area. I'm just curious if its plug and play if we buy the DRV and taillight piece with camera module already in there.

Do you guys have a project roadmap or ETA on when this will be available? In the mean time, do you have any pictures illustrating how to remove the 3rd-breaklight/camera housing?

It looks like it's all one long strip that would need removed together. But I can't find any mounting points or screws to remove to get it started.

Hey, ETA is looking like 4 weeks now because of lunar new year, couldn't get the full order produced before the shutdown. I have an instructions page that I havent published yet on my website. But i can explain here briefly. its super easy to drop the 3rd brake light.
First remove both rear coat hangers from headliner using a plastic pry tool, pry the cover and then grab the metal hook out. Then pull aside the trim from both C pillars where the seatbelts go into the trim. gently pulling is all thats required here.
Then you can gently pull down the headliner below the tail light (rolling the rear window down is super helpful).
The tail light is secured with 3- 10mm bolts.
Ill attach some pictures for you. Hope that helps!

Just catching up....did we confirm if the connector is up already in the front to plug into? Forgive my ignorance but what exactly will the relocation harness do?

Not sure what you mean in the front? This kit allows you to move the camera that does the digital rearview

I've got a SR5 without the Digital mirror. I'm interested in adding it if it's not crazy expensive.

I bought. A second camera so I could test a retrofit kit. Unfortunately, the mirrors are paired to the cameras. I haven't been able to figure out the pairing process yet (there must be one for mirror replacements etc) maybe someone with the service manual could look for it for me.
Once we figure that out, it's worth trying to wire up the drv mirror. I don't remember if the mirrors are on a can interface or will standalone. If it's can there are probably even more hurdles to adding a drv mirror.

From a distance it could look like there are 2 cameras, but the one on the left is just molded plastic that is in the shape of a camera. The left camera for Digital Rear-view mirror is part of the SPA (Straight Path Assist) which there would be a switch for that which is letter G in the picture below. If you have that switch, you'll have the digital rear-view mirror and camera.

Let me rephrase, The digital rear-view mirror and it's camera on back of cab seem to always be packaged together with the SPA.

Thanks @ryanwgregg that's what I was afraid of. I know there's the calibration menu on the infotainment for the 360 cameras and that has a "learn new cameras" button. I was hoping there would be something similar on the mirror. Factory reset my mirror trying to find a secret menu haha. How available is techstream these days?
Regardless, the mirror binding to the camera really put a damper on my plan to put a camera all the way back on my trailer and then switch between cameras when not trailering by swapping the cable back to the main camera.

without the camera next to the 3rd brake light, its pointless to install the digital rearview mirror.

I have both the cameras by my 3rd tail light, but only the rear view mirror with homelink. Id love to be able to change that to the digital rear view mirror. I have the PVM option as well, but not the towing technical package, so that’s why I think I didn’t get the mirror. Just wondering if wiring/harness is already there if I was able to procure just the mirror.

The camera harness isn't there, but I have those cables.

You can buy the two camera taillight housing or housing with cameras and install it just like factory. $650- for the one with both cameras in it.
Then you need the mirror + harnessing.
Plus for people with a topper having the digital rearview is actually awesome once you move the camera obv. Sure beats looking at the back of your topper.

Someone just needs to pull the trigger and try to add the mirror. Does the homelink only mirror have the same communication connection? that's another unknown. looks like we'll have to use techstream to get it to pair with a camera.

I'f anyone wants to try, DM me and I can send you the camera cable free and try to help with the front mirror wiring cross.

but you are starting to push into $$$ territory and some people wont see the cost as justifiable for the rearview mirror and the camera housing. also will the bcm (body control module) recognize the added items and the features that those items have to show up in the center console?

i know toyota is starting to not put those features in to save money but also force people to upgrade to a higher package or trim level to make more money, unlike the old days to save time and install everything but not install buttons or turn on features for the pre-existing hardware.

I just shipped a bunch of yall's orders. Please let me know how the install goes for you and anything that I can improve. Hopefully the free mount I sent out works for most of you, please post up some pics of how it looks on your setup. I am still developing more camera mounting solutions, if you have an idea for a mount that works for you, sketch it up and I can work with you to design and print it for you.
    Thanks for the support!
