    great update

my guess is they are having a hard time isolating this between the mirror and the door. either way, I agree, this has been going on for a long time now and its crickets from corporate.

I am really really cringing if my new tundra, which isnt built yet, has this.

I just got my tundra 4 days ago and this issue is actually insane.. people had this problem a year ago and its not fixed?
I feel like something bigger has to be done against Toyota for giving us shit quality for 70k spent on a vehicle.. smh.

how are you going to that and let the mirror fold?

I would just test it with some painters tape that removes easily in case its not coming from the mirror

I mentioned it in another thread. Its being tracked but its extremely hard to reproduce. We've tried to reproduce in our test vehicles but haven't been able to consistently get the "whistling" that some users report at highway speeds. I havent noticed it on my own Tundra, even with crosswinds at highway speeds.
We rely on dealer reports for issues like this, but even the dealers reporting to us have been inconsistent in describing the noise. Based on the reports we're getting, it affects significantly less than 1% of vehicles. I'm not sure what the latest updates are, but I think the team responsible is handling on a case by case basis, so if you're experiencing unusual wind noise, report it to your dealer!

Sorry i'm not more help on this specific issue, but its such a sporadic one. If you're able to reproduce this noise on your truck consistently, please send me a DM with a video and any steps you take. This can include driving conditions, wind speeds, try pressing on the windows/sunroof to see if it gets worse, etc.

A couple things to note on my experience:

My 22 1794 was incredibly quiet when I first bought it. Although there was a noticeable whistle on the drivers window only above 75mph. It wasn't enough to turn me off from buying the truck but it was present. Over the course of putting 9000-10K miles on the truck the wind noise got considerably worse. In addition my truck developed the upper door/window squeak/rattle where the upper door frame actually wiggles against the cab (this is a separate issue from the wind noise).

I started complaining about the wind noise to my dealer around my 10K service and it took them a bit to get to a point where they agreed to replace all my window seals. The dealer did all the taping, etc that they're doing to try and determine where the wind noise is coming from but ultimately what i've realized is that each truck is different depending on where the seal isn't snug up against the upper door frame. Mine in particular from in the back of the window near the B pillar because the seals were flared out catching wind and causing noise. After the first round of new seals the drivers rear, passenger front/rear were both greatly improved (basically back to new truck level of quietness). However my drivers window seal was horrible and frankly I was disappointed that the tech even let the truck leave his bay looking like this (photo below). So here is where the issues began because the service advisors 'excuse' for the seal being in this condition was that it gets shipped in a small package and 'if i wait until summer when it's hot it will lay flat'. Well that explanation didn't quite resonate with me since the other windows were perfect. Another trip to the dealer and a second & third seal netted the same result. I told them I wouldn't accept the truck back like that so they got a regional tech out with another seal and now it looks like the other three and no longer has the dreadful wind noise at 70+.

Following the window seal was the upper door squeak/rattle situation which really can't be solved unless Toyota redesigns their inner door to cab seals and makes them substantially larger so the door seals to the cab tighter. I solved it myself by adding additional stick on auto/marine gasket above the existing cab seal to put additional pressure on the top of the door. I did this for both drivers and passenger front doors. This solved the problem of the upper door moving around when hitting bumps, but I don't consider this to be a long term solution. My hope is that Toyota comes with a future TSB for this issue, but time will tell.

Taped my mirror up and noise is still there, taking it to dealer tomorrow. I think it’s a gasket problem. Going to tape airways to the window and see if that helps. I’ll keep y’all updated

As others said, it seems that these wind noise issues are unique to each truck - depending where the seal gap is that's causing wind to intrude and whistle.

My driver side always gets whistling noise above 40 mph. Originally, of I fold down my power mirror, the noise was gone and only would re-appear at about 70mph.

However, now that my truck for 2k miles on it, folding mirrors does not help to get rid of the whistling noise. It's weird how something changed that folding mirror no longer helps with the noise. Even though nothing changed on my truck... Maybe some dust over the past 2k miles? Idk

I tried taking up the whole mirror without any results, so I believe that my particular issue is probably window seal at the driver door. Didn't had a chance to do more taping...

I have a wind noise that is more than the other doors emanating from the drivers window, not a whistle, just more wind noise. I have an SR and I’m going to try taping the mirror.

So this is my theory of course, but in my opinion, the entire weatherproofing/ sealing/ sound proofing or whatever you want to call it is complete garbage. I suspect this to be the case for a couple reasons.

Firstly, the weatherproof seal on the inside front passenger seal started peeling off for me, this didn’t cause any wind noise as it towards the inside of the vehicle but I showed it to my dealer, and they said they will replace it once they receive the part, here is the notes they left:

WINDOW RUN ON INNDER SIDE HAS A DISFORMATION ON IT-CHECK AND ADVISE PLS. RIGHT FRONT DOOR GLASS RUN ON ORDER, PART ETA 2/21/2023 (today)

Another thing is that a lot of people here, had their weather strip replaced multiple times (including me) which sometimes led to it being fixed and sometimes didn’t. And we can also see that some people taped up their side mirrors which fixed it for some, while for some it didn’t.

User oxlsu40 also mentioned how “One of the service guys told me he has worked for Toyota for over 25 years, and these gaskets/seals were the "jankiest" he's ever seen.”

So, this is why Toyota still hasn’t come up with a solution so far (my theory), the issue is very complex and diverse between different Tundra’s. I doubt Toyota will come up with a solution for my Tundra by Monday like they said. Let’s keep spamming Toyota and putting pressure and hopefully a recall will come out soon.

from reading everything, my best guess is the supplier was cheaper and the seals are just shit.

I bet if they were slightly higher quality and slightly larger to put more pressure on the seal it would solve it

It seems odd that they are saying its less than 1% of trucks when its sustained here, odd

I believe the above posts are true. Anyone notice that the door glass, upon closing the door, rattles/shakes too much?

could it be due to the seals being substandard and don’t press against the surface enough?

I posted about this in another thread, but the very large majority of Tundra owners don't have accounts on this forum. It seems like its a common problem when you have a thread of people complaining about it, but in terms of number of trucks with a wind noise issue that have been reported to dealers, its a minuscule amount.

Also, I do not speak for Toyota, I'm sure there is a representative somewhere that can give you the company line. I'm just an engineer with the company who has some insight into the issues we're tracking.

I've gotten PMs telling me the truck is garbage and I did a terrible job, someone else told me that I shouldn't procreate. If thats the response I'm getting for trying to help the forum out with information, I should just stop posting altogether.

Took my truck into the local dealer (bought it out of state) for the following issues, here are their responses lol
-brake squeal in reverse- all the other 22 tundra's do it, within spec- LOL
-bed rattles over bumps- all other 22 tundras do it- LOL
-wind noise- tapped up every seam and did it all- then blamed it on my roof rack- did it before i installed it, its whislting from the front windows- LOL
-black vinyl on front pillars not aligned and lifting in one spot- within spec- LOL
-door rattles terribly with any bass- within spec of all other 22 tundras- LOL- this developed over time...

Not all dealers are equal. Sadly, a lot of them don’t give a shit or make you got through a bunch of tests to do anything.
