Torque converter flex lock up is used to partially lock the torque converter under light throttle driving conditions to improve fuel economy

What pid’s are y’all using for logging? I downloaded some layouts I found on hptuner forum but I guess they are to old for my version to open.

It will duty cycle the lockup solenoid to achieve flex lockup. I don't believe the tundras use flex lockup too aggressively but on a lot of the new 8 speed cars like the camry and highlanders you can feel it. I absolutely hate how it feels but its supposed to help for fuel mileage.

Ah. That's a big factor in the chevy converters failing. That constant partial slipping of the lock up converter takes it's toll after a while. Best thing to do is set it for 0% slippage, at least on the chevy's.

Yup it takes its toll on Rav4’s Camrys and sometimes the Tacomas too. I see some Tundra ones failing but they are usually high mileage and poorly maintained.

Anyone ever play with max throttle angle? Mine is set at 86* which I know isn't unheard of through various makes.

Infinite Gratitude for this thread, I can't wait to get my hands on an MPVI2 that my brother has... It's going to be fun!

I've read about people increasing it, I think on Tacomas (I guess to 90deg?) but that it's set at 86 to prevent the valve jamming, and the flow difference is effectively negligible anyways.

Got my first log done and it's about what you'd expect from a stock truck with an intake and a muffler. Need to add maybe a bit to the MAP scaling but not much. Need to go back and re-read what the knock learn and feedback is and how to interpret. The IAT's are interesting. It's the rough country intake (previous owner, not my choice) and sitting at idle the IAT's are 10* higher than ambient, cruising they are 20-30*, and at wot I'm seeing 30* or more.

That's interesting. My stock style airbox is within 5deg of ambient when moving. Parked it can vary a lot, in the summer if it's 100+ out in a drive through the IAT will climb to 200F.

Has anyone got a wideband 02 sensor to communicate into HP and datalog it?

I have my Innovate PSB-1 hooked up through the analog output to laptop and it's not happy. I just bought another serial to usb adapter to see if that works at all.

Need the pro package for that I believe. There may be other ways as I’ve seen LS folks tie a wideband into a different sensor and then adjust the values from there.

First tank with the first rev tune showed a .7mpg increase. Last three tanks have been 12.5 and this one was 13.2 and that’s with a lot more high speed 70+mph driving and stop and go. Need to get back on the tune and keep tweaking.

So from what I'm gathering here, you start with the preloaded TRD tune and make adjustments from there?

Start out with whatever tune HPT gives you. When you "read ECU" it doesn't actually read it, it'll just download to your computer what the stock calibration tune is, which if it was originally a TRD tuned truck will be the TRD tune it downloads. The TRD tune isn't anything special in and of itself. I tuned a guy's truck a few weeks ago and he sent me the stock file that HPT downloaded and I modified it from there.

Oh ok, do you get a second file just to have a 'stock' tune to revert back to in case of issues?

With Hp, you read the stock file before it is modified and save the file somewhere you won’t lose it as the stock file. The stock file is then modified and as revisions are made you just save the revised file and name it accordingly.

Thanks for clarifying, does the module come with a cable to connect it to a laptop? I've added the prolink+ cable but don't see anything about the obdII cable...

The MPVI2 comes with a cable, yes. Not sure about your DTC question.

Thank you. I found out you can use the scanner on other makes/models, i'm inquiring to see if there's any datalogging capability as well..

Data logging with the MPVI2 is done with VCM Scanner.
