Well.. found the 3k cutout problem.

Fuel delivery is working as intended and doing the modifications to the basket did drop afr's significantly in a non ffv basket.

Starting off with the 75mm pulley was the cutout issue. We swapped to the 80mm and all problems went away. Could it be the stock exhaust? Could it be the plugs? Dunno

 

interesting hmmm. Can you swap and regap plugs and throw the other pulley in?

 

Honestly I'm gonna roll with the 80mm for now as I need my truck back and I'm gonna need lube for the labor bill after all this back and forth bs. I'm at sea level and should still see ~10psi.. I'm happy with that.

 

With the 80 I left the plugs at .029. Didn’t have to gap lower till I switched to the 75mm so you should be good.

 

So are you still running the stock heat range plugs at the stock gap? If so it does kind of make sense to think the plugs/gap are indeed the culprit. Either way, it should run great on the 80. DAP had told me if I was going to use the truck for heavy towing that the 80 was a good place to stop for reliability.

 

Yeah still using oem plugs that havent been pulled.. truck has 15k miles. Ikh24's will be here Friday but will hold off on installing them if I can. Good info regarding the 80mm and pulling as I do pull a TT often

 

Well at least it's running and the hard part is done. I'd be interested at what boost it was having issue before. Sure it could be the plugs, but I thought blowing out the spark usually happened at really high boost, and around 10psi I'd think even the stock plugs are fine. But at least now you don't need a shop to do testing like that since plug and pulley change takes three wrenches.

Make sure it's running well and how you want and then incrementally start stepping the power and mods up when you want.

 

Also I am back from 1200 miles of driving and the first trip in awhile to sea level with the supercharger. I didn't touch the tune, and my fuel trims appeared to stay within 5% or so. 2.3 pulley made shy of 9psi at sea level, nearly the same the 2.0 makes at 5500ft. Part of me feels like the 2.0 would've been fine since I've done 11psi before, so what's 13psi at sea level

But that ended up being good testing, my boost predictions for a stock truck have been correct within a psi across two pulleys and from sea level to 10000ft, and now we've confirmed that if you tune for max boost then step to a larger pulley the same tune should be fine.

 

It's at ~10 psi now on stock plugs and running way better with no cutout on an initial tune from PS. With the 75mm it was at ~12psi. Now that we got the cutout issue solved, PS is going to continue sending revisions. Looking at posts on Boosted Tundras FB page, at my elevation and 12 psi through the Harrop I'd be over 600whp on pump gas. I feel better with the 80mm on stock bottom end.

 

I suspect the difference between say Fastlane and my truck and why he makes more boost with the same pulley is all down to intake and exhaust. If the only variable you change is pulley size, and you have one data point of your pulley/boost/elevation then you can accurately predict the boost for other pulleys and elevations.

 

Shop said the Harrop is quite the whiner with the fender cutout and PS intake. Something else for the wife to bitch about

Agreed..although surface conditions come into play with them dragy runs. I'm assuming you guys are in 4wd?

I'd say it's still not as loud as a Mag, especially a pullied one, but the Harrop has been known to be quiet. I'll get video asap

What are you seeing for 60 foots? I've been pretty consistent at 2.0. I'd love to get it a little lower but i guess I'm asking a lot for a full size truck on 35's. I have only done runs on the stock maggy tune but will try the new tune from OTT soon.

 

no idea on the 60ft's I guess I don't have the Dragy set to measure that.

 

I think it has to be on 1/8th or 1/4 mile runs to get a 60' time. I've done a lot of 1/8 mile pulls because i don't feel like getting arrested for doing a full 1/4 lol. Are you primarily just getting 0-60 times?

5.2-ish with rollout.

That's about what i'm seeing. Pretty consistent 5.4's but i have run a 5.2 before on a nice cold day. I'll see if i have a dragy video i can post.

 

I am, as others will tell assure you, not great at 0-60's.

I'm sure one of y'all could squeeze 5.1 out of it. 4.9-ish with rollout.

 

It still records 1/8 and 1/4 mile times even if you weren’t in it for the whole stretch which should give you accurate 60ft times. Just go to your 1/8 mile runs and look at the 60ft. Mine are mostly 1.9x with a best of 1.91 I believe. @ssmokedz I’ll add you to a group chat we have going to discuss these things and post dragy runs. I wouldn’t post it here as the admins aren’t fond of it unless you can prove it was at the track. Also if anyone wants to be a part of said chat, and isn’t yet just let me know. We have a few dragy runs posted there.
