    Added money to it.
You’d think with all their engineering wisdom that the TRD tune wouldn’t be crap. Might be a while but I’d like to see some logs on a gen 3. Maybe forced induction isn’t Toyota’s strong suit

Thanks for showing some hard data! Looks like if you’re supercharged and running anything other than a custom tune you are doing yourself and your engine a disservice. It’s amazing Even Prospeed pushes selling the stage1 so hard as they should know better. The delayed throttle enrichment is also super sketchy on the stock tune with boost. As much as two trucks with the same mods should be the same when it comes to the tune there’s obviously a lot of variables and a cookie cutter tune just can’t work that well. If you’re really getting into more tuning for others @snivilous I may hit you up to work on mine soon. I can’t see starting from scratch with an all new tune from someone else just to address my intake swap, but if DAP doesn’t respond to me I have to reconsider options.

Prospeed told me I'd be wasting money on a Harrop if I didn't swap out the fuel system to feed it.

They may say it’s not optimal for the most power. They don’t tell you it’s not 100% safe though as far as knock and AFR, which includes myself and 10 other people I’ve seen them answer directly in regards to the stage 1.

Yea I was shocked when I opened the file. One of those issues I could understand, but issues with fuel/air/spark all occurring simultaneously makes me think it's not a fluke of his truck. And agreed on the delayed enrichment, the stock tune ZPhilip has doesn't start enrichment until 70deg of throttle. Compare that to the TRD tune which starts fueling at 40deg (my personal tune starts fueling at 30deg). So the TRD/Magnuson is richening the engine out almost twice as early as the stock tune!

I think tuning vehicle's is fun, as I told ZPhilip, this is a small side hobby and I'm not trying to make money or spend a lot of time on this. But I know him and lots of others have issues finding people locally (or even remotely) that will tune their vehicle. I think I can cheaply get a tune that is at 90-95% of what a professional tuning house will do and make someone very happy, and certainly set them up with a much better tune than what they currently have, if nothing else then to use as a bridge until they can get a professional tuner to work with them. I was talking to someone earlier this week that it was like $750 for a tune from OTT. I'm not trying to compete with that, I'm just happy to provide a better-than-stock alternative for like $200 or less.

Good to see the actual data. This was an early "finding" discussed in this thread buried several pages back. Now we have the data to support the conclusion. Thanks for sharing this.

I just finished my first tune with John at OTT and my stock magnuson setup was also leaning out up top. My innovate wideband was showing 12.6-12.7 in the upper rpm ranges. He was able to make some changes and get me down to the 11.5 range. I will be changing the pump, injectors and pulley and then making adjustments after that

I was quoted $700 for initial tune, and $200 for the additional remote dyno tune later. I think it's normally $500 if you don't have wild injectors and custom 4.5" intake tube

Edit: that's the price with me having my own hptuners/credits and doing the logging myself

I paid over $1500 for PS to remote tune my truck with the device and aem X gauge that they won't touch it without. It's like pulling teeth trying to get any info out of them. Currently dealing with an issue with their supplied Walbro 450 pump

I recommend a comment about Stage 1 be noted in the OP. It was acutally the original point of the thread @snivilous .

Thanks again for managing this thread and the info it will provide.

Its leaning out too much under WOT.. afr's in the 12's when it should be in the 9's super rich with Chris @ PS initial tune. Chris said to pull pump back out and check for loose connections. Hopefully today we'll get it out.

They told me the same when I went for my follow-up, check in-tank connections or check for wiring issues...I knew the connections were good, and verified when I added the secondary pump, and it was using stock wiring. Found it odd that their fuel system wasn't "enough" when they sold it as "more than enough"...

Then there's guys in here using the same pump on similar setups with no issues.

And I’m over here using a “dinky” 340LPH with no issues. It’s hard to believe a 450 isn’t enough for more than a stock block can handle power wise. How big is the pump magnuson supplies with their kit? Isn’t that one smaller than 300LPH?

True...and so many variables between the setups. I will add that between my initial tune and the follow-up that I went from JBA long tube headers to larger ARH 1 7/8" primary headers, from Gibson catback to ARH dual catback exhaust, and enlarged my fender opening, so that could have affected the results. They also had to install O2 bungs in a primary tube to get a cleaner reading for tuning, which they didn't do on the initial tune.

Is the 340lph plug n play? on the 450 you have to splice wires so there's the potential for bad wiring [shrug]

P0101 Pending. Threw both rich bank codes. :annoyed:

Going to try replacing the MAF sensor first. May have to clean O2 sensors as well it appears.

    Or revisit tune.

    Thoughts?

Yes, it drops in like an OEM pump. I believe it’s the biggest available that’s direct drop in but not sure. I was told by someone I would call an expert that it’s just fine up to 600whp. I think if I dropped to a smaller pulley or got headers or something I’d probably want the 450 to be safe.

Do you have the PS 4.5" intake and the enlarged fender hole?

Check if they moved your grounds from the inner fender to under the air filter...according to the wiring diagram, that is where the fuel pump voltage regulator grounds and when they did mine they did a shit job relocating and it wasn't sitting flush. I suspected this as causing the pressure drop they were seeing, since it regulates voltage to the pump based on engine load, so I moved the grounds back to the inner fender and then I ran dedicated pump wiring just to be sure I always had 12v.

Big shout out to @snivilous for helping me in my situation! I am hoping getting this data out there will help others in the future. I would have made getting the tune done a priority and not waited. No local tuners and finding a remote tuner has been a challenge!
Let's hope I haven't done permanent engine damage while driving untuned for 8000 miles. :(

He replied back saying they moved the grounds as per PS' instructions but will verify. They're dropping the tank now I was told. Thank you for the great info!

I have the stock flex fuel pump feeding mine - Stage 2 Harrop with 650cc injectors, JBA LT and 3 inch exhaust - and have had no issues. On stage 1 I could not get the AFR below 13 on WOT with the stock injectors. Probably made a difference that I already had the LTH and exhaust when I installed the Harrop. Chris at Harrop told me that the FF pump is the same size or a little larger than the DW pump they supply with the kit and that I just needed injectors. Changed them and tuned it and I was fine. Went to Stage 2 and retuned and no issues. Makes right at 8 psi and AFR is around 10.5 at WOT

I dont think anyone should drive a Stage 1 Harrop without a tune. It is a lean situation. The knock sensors will probably protect the motor but it can't be good for it.
