Can someone explain WHEN you need to get the longer front axles? I'm asking because I have a non TRD SR5. It had the black Hitachi shocks on the front. I did a 2" coilover for a front lift. I talked with the guy who did the install, he didn't see any reason why I would need longer axles. But then I see folks here talking about having the TRD sport and needing longer axles to do the lift. So I'm concerned... Sorry for my ignorance, I have read through this entire thread and I'm not sure it has been answered for my specific situation.

You would only need longer CVs if you changed out the upper/lower control arms. Of if you did one of the bracket style lifts (fabtech for example).

Unless there is something revolutionary different about the front suspension on the Tundra that I am not aware of. (I have done a lot of lifts on 3rd/4th/5th gen 4runners, tacomas and even a 1st gen sequoia).

That makes sense. I'm not seeing any lift companies saying you need longer axles for a 2" lift (i.e. no UCA / LCA). I emailed RoughCountry, they said I didn't need different axels. So I'm sticking with what I have for now. Thanks!

I have an extra TRD Differential Wire Harness extension bracket PT413-34220 from the Trd lift kit if anyone sees this and wants it for free as long as I can ship it cheap. Pm me.

Has anyone had any luck trying to use universal fox shocks on their 3rd Gen yet?

I asked this in another thread. pertaining to the TRD OEM lift.

I'm curious if the front wheels/tires stick out any further than stock due to the extended CV axle? I understand that lifting would essentially "shorten" the stock CV due to angle (at least in theory it makes sense) but does the TRD extended CV actually cause the stance to be wider?
I'm trying to determine if a +18 offset will still sit as it would with the stock CV or will they essentially look more like a 0 offset with the new TRD lift CV?

I'm interested if 'poke' will remain unchanged.

Not sure if this has been covered before, but I'm hoping for a Fox DSC suspension kit custom tuned by Accutune offroad. I've called FOX and while they don't have any updates, they stated it's in the works and are targeting sometime later in the year.

I realize the Kings shocks are already announced, but I've had great experience with my custom tuned Fox on my 2020.

If anyone hears otherwise, please share.

Axels won’t make the wheels stick out, you need a full front end with so much more parts to do that, a wheel alignment can play with camber after a lift and that will just adjust the wheel as you look at it vertical it can tilt in or out or plumb. After my front level the wheels tilted outward from being pulled up.

Comparison of lengths from a Rough country 3.5” lift strut to a 2nd gen bilstein 6112.. First pic is from RC website and second pic is from shock surplus website data.

The LCAs are a different design. Look at the difference between a 3rd Gen LCA and a 2.5 Gen LCA where the lower portion of the front shock mounts. On the 22+, the mounting point/cradle is on TOP of the LCA. On the 21's & older, the mounting point/cradle is in front of the LCA. I don't have 2 LCAs to compare the width & depth of the cradle so I can't speak to that. All I know is that design is different and that's why every aftermarket company had to create a new design for the 3rd Gen.

I'd wait if I were you. Otherwise, you're going to have to tread where no major aftermarket house was willing to go...which is trying to make the 2.5 gen design fit the 3rd gen.

Personally, I'd wait for Icon over Bilstein. I've burned through multiple sets of 5100's over the years, but a lot people love them. Totally up to you. I have no experience with Eibach. If you were near me, I'd give you my Bilsteins that I took off from my OR package. :)

Has anyone else come across ABS wire issues with a lift?

I just installed the Icon Stage 7 kit on my truck and the ABS wire between the sensor and the UCA is too tight to re-install the metal bracket towards the top of the spindle. Has anyone worked past this issue?

You need the piece from the Trd lift kit for the abs wire extension bracket (or come up with something to extend them yourself). Your parking brake lines and rear brake lines are also at risk for getting stretched. Extended brake lines and the parking brake extension bracket from the Trd lift kit fixes those.

Cool, thanks. F/R Brake lines have been done but I'll need to check on the parking brake extension bracket. If it's just a matter of changing the bracket I'll probably just fab something up myself

PT767-34310 For the parking brake. You need 2 of them.
Youll also need two 90119- A0536 for the parking brake.
    PT413-34220 For the abs line.

You actually shouldn't need that part. The OE bracket should mate up to the UCA just fine. This is my setup with the OE bracket on the tubular Icon UCAs. I have plenty of slack, even at full droop.

Yep I'm running the same UCA's, and the bracket on the UCA bolted right up as well. But the abs line between the UCA and the mounting location near the hub is pulled almost taut (circled in red). before it had enough slack to bolt it to the brake line bracket on the spindle (circled in blue).

Maybe I just need to pull the wire through a little more to get more slack but just wanted to see what y'all thought of it before doing anything

Agreed, up front, no issues with the abs line
