Love the stance and the bronze wheels. I jusy got my Method 706 in Bronze. 17"

What is the purpose of the AFE rear air adjustment arms? I'm trying to learn up on all of this. How do you like the ride with the Kings? I run those on my FJ, but 1 day after had them installed, I ruptured my left Achilles tendon. I haven't been able to shift a car for 4 months. That's a big part of why I just bought this new tundra. I'm trying to figure out if that's the best setup for the tundra or if I should look at the fox shocks that are now aluminum?

The Stance of your truck is exactly what I'm going for. Also what kind of rock sliders are on there?

This is what I'm running with my Icons on my Tundra. I've got the CBI full bumper plus a 12k winch. Bumper is 155lbs + winch is 60 lbs. Total weight is ~220, including the light bar and a pair of Rigid fog lights. It's handling the weight just fine and the ride is smooth.

The AFE arm is an arm that sets the height for your rear air suspension. This arm is just like the factory arm, but has more adjustment so the rear air will air up more to achieve level or slightly past level after the truck has been lifted.

The ride is good, daily driving is slightly degraded or just stiffer if that makes sense. The truck doesn’t float as much which is nice but hits a little harder on slow bumps etc. it’s always a trade off when you put true off road suspension on a truck. You’re going to give up some daily driver comfort.

Fox vs. King? Really they are vary similar and both are good. ADS is working on a kit that is definitely in the conversation when it hits also. As far as my experience in the past running both fox/king I can’t say one is better than the other. Best price would be my decision factor. Fox will typically have more adjustment but I’ve found that you really just find a good off road adjustment and daily adjustment and stay there.

Quality Air-ride leveling with AVS lift out there??

Some understand - some are confused (understandably). Air-ride leveling suspension does not necessarily mean you have AVS… so searching through this forum can be tough trying to figure out what really works and what doesn’t with AVS controls.

I’m really just trying to get all our options layed-out. Here is what I ‘think’ is correct for those of us with AVS and want a lift (help from those in the know would be great):

    1. Westcott lift (specific to AVS/air) works
    2. Front levels - pucks with an open top for the AVS sensors (RC 1.75, etc) works
    3. Kits specific to AVS (Readylift sst lift kit for AVS air-ride)

Can anyone else add to this? Higher-end suspension updates for the AVS? I’d prefer a better solution like Icon stage 1 or even RC M1s. I spoke with icon today and they are still in DEV on an AVS solution . Any other additions here? Thanks in advance everyone. Help.

Have any of you that has lifted 3" been told that you need the TRD extended axles? I have everything for my lift ordered but the shop that's installing says they got an email, I don't know from who that doing a 3" lift will require the TRD axles. No one has them in-stock, and the places I called today said they can't even order them. Something about Toyota putting a stop order on those parts and even the TRD lift kit. I don't know what to do now.

I'm pretty happy with them. I had 5100's on my '19 Ram and honestly the RC struts don't feel any different. The truck feels pretty close to stock. WAY BETTER than any spacer lift I've ever had (decided I wasn't going that route again). For the price, and as long as you know these aren't a high end strut that going to let you smash it on 4wd trails, I think this is a good option.

That makes me wonder if they were actually in stock. On 3 different occasions I ordered shocks listed as "in stock" online only to find out they were backordered. When I ordered this current Icon set I called the vendor and had them physically check the warehouse for the SKUs I wanted. Ordered over the phone and installed them exactly a week later and that was after they sat in the box for a few days waiting for my day off.

I ordered my Ikon kit through a local shop who did the install. Everything was in stock at the time, but then I got a call from the shop a few days before install saying the non-adjustable 2.5’s were like a month behind. But they had the adjustable ones. So, it was either wait or spend the extra $500. I ended up spending the extra $500 and now have blingy adjusters I need to take out a mess around with.

Does anyone know the stock spring rate on the rear end? Tried to call the local Toyota parts supplier here and all they could give me was the part number for the rear coils.

If you have a TRD Sport...yes. According to everything that I see, it's recommended that you have the TRD Red axles or the extended length TRD Silver axles for lifts of 3".

The red axles come with the TRD Off Road & TRD Pro packages. The silver axles are what Toyota includes in the Toyota OEM lift kit.

Here's the tech note from Icon's engineering department:

Thanks for confirming this. I was able to get a set of the TRD Off-Road axles. Yeah I have the sport so the shop wouldn’t even touch my truck till I got these axles. I’m actually glad they knew about this, and did some research before just doing the install.

Anyone know the max height one can go on the front without replacing uca's? After seeing some of the spacer kits that lift the truck 3 inches up front, I wonder if it's possible to put an extended shock to get the same effect and just extend or replace the bump stop if needed. Also wondering if the trucks with the spacers have alignment issues, since most of the 3 inch suspension kits recommend replacing uca's with those in their kits... Or are the uca's in the kits provided for better wheel clearance in addition to more ideal alignment? Im not an expert about suspension so forgive the stupid questions, I haven't had my morning coffee yet.

Anyone have any leads where to order non-adjustable Kings that doesn't have a 6-8 month lead time? These things are impossible to find.

Yeah, just talked to icon tech support today and they mentioned that. So that means one doesn't need to replace uca's if you only want to go up a few inches. I also asked Icon about the Hybrid note, and was told there would just be a reduced lift height one would get due to the added weight of the hybrid system, but otherwise the lift kits are fine with the hybrids. I'm relatively close to icon, wonder what they charge for install. I'd probably do a stage 9 they had one in stock.

Has anyone on here updated your UCA when installing a Westcott lift on an AVS/Air Ride equipped truck? Ive read that its right at the top of OEM travel? It may be overkill for someone that does very little to no off-roading. I truly just want to actually upgrade my suspension to a small 2in. lift via ICON or the like... but unfortunately those of us with AVS/Rear Air Ride are limited in our options as very little is available to us. So I'm leaning towards Westcott as the lesser of evils. Id just like to do what I can to make it as quality a ride as possible. Maybe its totally fine since I see a gazillion of Westcott lifts on here... Anyone out there have any thoughts or suggestions? Im kinda tapped out in my searches for options at this point so I might end up biting the bullet and purchasing the Westcott AVS lift.

Is the air ride suspension up front as well? I thought it was the same coils up front and the air ride was only in the rear. Just curious. It impacts my reco. :)

There's the air ride and then there is air ride with AVS... The AVS has a wire that drops down the top of coil over and in to the shock for tuning suspension. Comfort, Comfort+, etc....

Nope... the air ride is only in the rear but the AVS system is plugged in front ... on the Westcott and some ring spacer level pucks the AVS still works because it just stays plugged ... but any Front strut or coilover lift (currently) means leaving the AVS unplugged (which is plausible- and doesn't really effect anything other than not being able to use it) ARGH ...lol... :( Thanks for the RECO KROP :)

Correct. This is a Platinum that has the rear air WITH the AVS system.

Do we know if the AVS system is like the old X-REAS system on 5th Gen 4runners (Limited & Platinums)? Is it air or hydraulic?

If it's like the X-REAS system that hydraulically changed the dampening at all 4 corners by moving hydraulic fluid around, then I don't know of any suspension lift that was straight compatible with that system. You either did a pre-load and/or spacer...or just deleted the system entirely to change to a true suspension lift from King/Elka/Icon/Fox/Eibach, etc.

I can see why the aftermarket struggles with this because you can't keep the factory variable system in that scenario. If it's like X-REAS, at some point, you'll have to choose.

I'm not up on the AVS system so someone else might have to chime in.

I feel like our options are Westcott or a similar preload or spacer lift.... or we disconnect and do a whole new system like King/Elka/Icon/Fox/Eibach ... which for some of us is very daunting.... especially when im not talking Baja here :) But I want to lift my vehicle the right way/ safely and with as little ride change as possible.... this is basically why all AVS enabled Air ride folks are pulling their hair out just trying to get an extra 2 inches of lift ..... sigh
